The presented publication summarizes reports that have made within solution of research plan of Faculty of Education of Masaryk University SCHOOL AND HEALTH FOR THE CENTURY. The project is inspired by ideas, which define new paradigm in the school and health system both in our country and in the world. These new ideas are determined first of all by documents of World Health Organisation (WHO), shich have been accepted and elaborated by our government, social and scientific authorities and organisations and new framework curricula, which represent fundamental changes in our school system. We deal eith theoretical issues in detail in the following pages describing the project SCHOOL AND HEALTH FOR THE 21 CENTURY. Předkládaná publikace shrnuje příspěvky, které vznikly v rámci řešení výzkumného záměru Pedagogické fakulty Masyrykovy univerzity ŠKOLA A ZDRAVÍ PRO 21. STOLETÍ. Jde o projekt, jenž je inspirován idejemi, které určují nové paradigma ve školství a zdravotnictví jak u nás, tak ve světě. Tyto nové myšlenky jsou dány především dokumenty Světové zdravotnické organizace (SZO/WHO), které byly přijaty a rozpracovány našimi vládními, společenskými i vědeckými orgány a organizacemi a novými rámcovými vzdělávacími programy, které představují zásadní změny v našem školství. Podrobněji se teoretickými východisky zabýváme na následujících stránkách, kde popisujeme projekt ŠKOLA A ZDRAVÍ PRO 21. STOLETÍ.

This study presents a preparative theoretical project that deals with evaluation of life standard and stress of teachers, and it can also produce some new results concerning other areas than only stress of teachers. The conception of the structure and basic pre-research enables us to build hypotheses and evaluate all conseQuences, which need to be accepted when clarifying the teachers´quality of life and stress. Studie představuje přípravný teoretický projekt pro zkoumání kvality života a učitelského stresu, které může přinést nové výsledky než zkoumání zdraví a učitelského stresu Postulujeme koncepci struktury kvality života a jednoduchý předvýzkum umožňuje postavit hypotézy a zvážit všechny okolnosti, které je nutno akceptovat při objasňování kvality života a učitelského stresu.

Language Abstraction, Intergroup Bias and National Essentialism is a part of an international project initiatedat the EAESP Summer School 2006 in Padova supervised by Anne Maass and Guen R. Semin. Our experimental study builds on the Linguistic Category Model (LCM) by Semin & Fiedler (1988, 1991) and itsrecent developments suggested by Carnaghi, Maass, Gresta, Bianchi, Arcuri, & Cadinu (submitted). In their research, Carnaghi et al. have shown differences in the inductive potential of nouns versus adjectives. We attempted to link their findings with intergroup attitudes and national essentialism. In four European countries, we examined whether the use of nouns versus adjectives for nationality labels of target persons has effects on intergroup bias. The use of more abstract language for the description of a target person (e.g. a Czech) should lead to stronger intergroup bias than the use of less abstract language (e.g. Czech). Based on Carnaghi and colleagues’ ideas we supposed that the link between more abstract language and stronger intergroup bias is mediated via the process of ascribing more essentialist characteristics to the target person. In the context of our research, national essentialism is defined as a belief system that is based on different components of national identity. Along with Habermas (2000), we distinguish three components of national identity: ethnic, cultural and civic. Denoting nationality with a noun (e.g. a German) should trigger a higher rate of perceived essentialism whereas using an adjective for a nationality label (e.g. German) should lead to a lower level of perceived essentialism. Tato experimentální studie navazuje na model lingvistických kategorií Semina a Fiedlera (1988, 1991) a jeho rozšíření o kategorii podstatných jmen (Carnaghi, Maass, Gresta, Bianchi, Arcuri, & Cadinu, 2008). Výzkumu Carnaghiho a kol. prokázal odlišnou míru induktivního potenciálu podstatných a přídavných jmen. V naší studii jsme propojili výsledky výzkumu o rozdílném induktivním potenciálu podstatných a přídavných jmen s problematikou meziskupinových postojů a národnostního esencialismu. Ve čtyřech evropských zemích jsme testovali, zda označení národnosti pomocí podstatných jmen způsobuje vyšší míru meziskupinového zkreslení ve prospěch vlastního národa ve srovnání s označením pomocí přídavného jména. Předpokládali jsme, že použití abstraktnější kategorie podstatných jmen (např. Čech) povede k vyšší míře vnitroskupinového favoritismu ve srovnání s použitím méně abstraktní kategorie přídavných jmen (např. český). Ve shodě s výsledky Carnaghiho a kol. jsme dále předpokládali, že vztah mezi abstraktností výrazů pro označení národnosti a meziskupinovým zkreslením je mediován národnostním esencialismem. V kontextu našeho výzkumu národnostní esencialismus definujeme jako systém přesvědčení, který je založen na různých komponentách národní identity. Ve shodě s Habermasem (2000) rozlišujeme tři komponenty národní identity: etnickou, kulturní a občanskou. Označení národnosti pomocí podstatného jména (např. Němec versus německý) implikuje vyšší míru národnostního esencialismu, který dále ovlivňuje míru vnitroskupinového zkreslení ve prospěch vlastního národa.

Healthy personality model and its application in pedeutology

The study deals with questions of forming model of a healthy personality that represents a basis for further individual development of man. Theoretically, the model comes from the ideas of health psychology and is determined by aware individual responsibility, whole-life activities, will for acquiring new knowledge, purposeful ranking in social relation-ships, qualified relation to material environment, conscious relationship to ones´ own tradition and cultural heritage and by an eneavour for enjoyment of happiness and joy. We verify this conception, both in theory and by investigations, in teachers where the issues of a healthy personality are considered to be of extreme importance. Studie se zabývá otázkami tvoření modelu zdravé ososbnosti, která představuje bazální východisko pro další individuální rozvoj člověka. Teoreticky tento model vychází z ideí psychologie zdraví a je vymezen uvědomnělou individuální odpovědností, celoživotní aktivitou, vůlí k získávání poznatků, cílevědomým zařazením do sociálních vztahů, poučeným vztahem k materiálnímu prostředí, vědomým vztahem k vlastní tradici a kulturnímu dědictví a snahou o prožitek štěstí a radosti. Teoreticky i výzkumně ověřujeme tuto koncepci na učitelích, kde otázky zdravé osobnosti považujeme za mimořádně důležité.

V tomto sborníku jsou prezentovány výsledky, které vznikly v prvním roce práce na výzkumném záměru Pedagogické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity Škola a zdraví pro 21. století a které většinou odezněly na stejnojmenné konferenci , jež se konala na Pedagogické fakultě MU v Brně ve dnech 15. - 16. září 2005.

The category of life quality in psychology of health

The study deals with position of life quality in contemporary psychological research, in the sphere of psychology of health in particular. We compare the development of the health and life quality categories and the usage of these terms in theory and research. We believe that in the contemporary state of psychological investigation the concept of "life quality" is becoming more advantageous because it better express some new knowledge of psychology, evolution of man and society. Studie se zabývá místem kvality života především c sou´časném psychologickém výzkumu, zejména v oblatsi psychologie zdraví. Je srovnáván vývoj kategorie zdraví a kvality života a používání těchto termínů v teorii a výzkumu. Domnívíme se, že v současném stavu psychologického zkoumání se stává výhodnějším pojem "kvalita života", který lépe vystihuje některé noví poznatky psychologie, vývoje člověka a a společnosti.

Historians of psychology often ignored historical instruments of experimental psychology. But the significance of historical experimental instruments is indisputable. On their example of importing essential knowledge from other disciplines and using them for psychological purposes we can prove the progressivity of psychology. In this paper we tried to map the “terra incognita” of history of psychology – we tried to describe and examine most of the preserved collections of historical psychological instruments in the Czech Republic. Historické přístroje sloužící experimentální psychologii v dobách jejího vzniku jsou neglekticky přehlíženy historiky psychologie. Jejich význam je však nepopiratelný a můžeme na nich demonstrovat progresivitu tehdejší psychologické vědy, která dokázala využívat poznatky z jiných technických oborů a adaptovat je pro své potřeby. V tomto příspěvku se věnujeme zmapování „terra incognita“ historie psychologie; pokusili jsme se o deskripci a vystižení základních funkcí a možností využití původních historických přístrojů dochovaných ve sbírkách na území České republiky.

Ve studii je popsán výzkum životního stylu učitelek základních škol (n=216). Šetřením bylo identifikováno 14 typů životního stylu a určena jejich podmíněnost prostředím, výchovou a sebevýchovou. Ukázalo se, že nejčastější jsou životní styly, které byly charakterizovány jako výkonové a reflexivní, přičemž tyto styly byly podmíněny výchovou a sebevýchovou. Většina ostatních stylů byla určena spíše faktory prostředí. Výzkum ukázal, že učitelky volí optimální životní styl k charakteru své profese a vědomě ho formují. Považujeme životní styl za důležitou kategorii v pedeutologii a jejímu výzkumu a formování by se měla věnovat pozornost v profesní přípravě a také při analýze kariéry učitele. The study describes different lifestyles of the female teachers at elementary schools (n=216). Based on research, 14 types of lifestyle have been identified and shown to be conditioned by the factors of environment, upbringing and self-improvement. It has been proved that the most frequently occurring lifestyles are those characterized as performance-oriented and reflective, while they are conditioned by the upbringing and self-education. The most of the other lifestyles have rather been formed by the environment factors. The research has shown that female teachers tend to choose a lifestyle optimally corresponding to the character of their profession and consciously form it. We consider the lifestyle as an important category within pedeutology; its study and formation should be given appropriate attention within the professional teacher training and career analysis.
