The research focuses on the investigation and development of precise calibration samples with relief structures. These samples are designed for calibrating parameters in scanning electron microscopes (SEM). Test patterns allow verification of the imaging quality through microscopic techniques such as overall magnification, field of view size, resolution, deformation in lateral axes, and other geometric distortions. Precision lithographic techniques and other methods derived from silicon processing technologies in the semiconductor industry are employed for sample preparation. The development has been directed towards optimizing the recording of etching masks before transferring the image onto a monocrystalline silicon substrate. Ceramic protection of anti-corrosion layers of 3-glycidyloxypropyl-triethoxysilane on steel
Pokorný, P.; Prodanović, N.; Janata, Marek; Brožek, Vlastimil
2023 - English
There are various variations on the problem of steel reinforcement bond strength in concrete. Along with geometrical considerations, corrosion performance of steels with varying chemical compositions in interaction with variable chemical compositions of concrete are crucial. One approach is to cover steel surfaces with organosilane compounds, which increases the reinforcement resistance to corrosion in both acidic and alkaline conditions but, on the other hand, may weaken the reinforcement bond strength on concrete. The issue is resolved by intentionally forming a thin-walled, highly adhering corundum layer that is highly porous and impregnated with 3-glycidyloxypropyltriethoxysilane. This procedure also includes testing the adhesion properties between the ceramic and the metal and the cement prior to conducting a corrosion test in a chloride environment. On the development of a numerical model for the simulation of air flow in the human airways
Lancmanová, Anna; Bodnár, Tomáš; Sequeira, A.
2023 - English
This contribution reports on an ongoing study focusing on reduced order models for incompressible viscous fluid flow in two dimensional channels. A finite difference solver was developed using a simple implementation of the immersed boundary method to represent the channel geometry. The solver was validated for unsteady flow by comparing the obtained two-dimensional numerical solutions with analytical profiles computed from the Womersley solution. Finally the 2D model was coupled to a simple 1D extension simulating the flow in axisymmetric elastic vessel (tube). Some of the coupling principles and implementation issues are discussed in detail. Keywords: reduced order model; incompressible Navier-Stokes equations; finite difference approximation; coupling method Available in digital repository of the ASCR

Improving computational efficiency of contact solution in fully resolved CFD-DEM simulations with arbitrarily-shaped solids
Studeník, Ondřej; Kotouč Šourek, M.; Isoz, Martin
2023 - English
The abundance of industrial processes containing both solid and liquid phases generate demand for fully resolved models allowing for detailed analysis and optimization of these processes. An established approach providing such models is based using a variant of an immersed boundary method to couple the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and discrete element method (DEM). In the talk, we will present our custom and monolithic implementation of a fully-resolved CFDDEM solver and concentrate on the intricacies of solving contact between two arbitrarily-shaped solids. We shall propose an efficient contact treatment based on the concept of a virtual mesh, which provides the mesh resolution required by DEM through dividing the space around the contact point in a finite volume fashion without any changes to the CFD mesh itself. A substantial part of the talk will devoted to the parallelization of the contact solution, especially in the context of the domain decomposition method imposed by the CFD solver. Keywords: CFD; DEM; virtual mesh Fulltext is available at external website.

Výpočty výměníku mezi primárním okruhem a meziokruhem malého modulárního reaktoru DAVID
Kobylka, D.; Hrubý, Jan; Kordík, Jozef; Gabriel, Dušan; Marek, René; Isoz, Martin
2023 - Czech
The report summarizes the joint results of the Department of Nuclear Reactors FNSPE, CTU and IT CAS, in the area of thermal and hydraulic calculations of the heat exchanger between the primary and intermediate circuits of the developed small modular reactor (SMR) DAVID. The assignment parameters were further specified during control days and with updated documentation. During the analysis of the initial system parameters, it was found that the original geometric configuration of the exchanger had a completely insufficient surface for heat transfer. A decision was made, several parameters were modified and based on a series of calculations using two independent simplified models, a reasonable configuration with a significantly smaller diameter of the tubes in a significantly larger number was chosen. The pressure losses on both sides of the heat exchanger are within normal ranges and will not cause problems with the construction of these circuits. Although there are differences between the results from both used models, their comparison shows that the chosen different calculation methods lead to approximately the same results and the models do not show fundamental errors. Keywords: small modular reactor DAVID; thermodynamics; heat exchanger Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Ambiguity in Stochastic Optimization Problems with Nonlinear Dependence on a Probability Measure via Wasserstein Metric
Kaňková, Vlasta
2023 - English
Many economic and financial applications lead to deterministic optimization problems depending on a probability measure. It happens very often (in applications) that these problems have to be solved on the data base. Point estimates of an optimal value and estimates of an optimal solutionset can be obtained by this approach. A consistency, a rate of convergence and normal properties, of these estimates, have been discussed (many times) not only under assumptions of independent data corresponding to the distributions with light tails, but also for weak dependent data and the distributions with heavy tails. However, it is also possible to estimate (on the data base) a confidence intervals and bounds for the optimal value and the optimal solutions. To analyze this approach we focus on a special case of static problems depending nonlineary on the probability measure. Stability results based on the Wasserstein metric and the Valander approach will be employed for the above mentioned analysis. Keywords: Stochastic optimization problems; static problems; empirical measure; point estimates; interval estimates; nonlinear dependence Fulltext is available at external website.

Plošné návrhové srážky v českých povodích
Müller, Miloslav; Kašpar, Marek; Hulec, Filip
2023 - Czech
řádu a v povodích útvarů povrchových vod. Při zdvojnásobení doby akumulace srážky vzroste návrhový úhrn v jednotlivých pixelech v průměru o cca 20 %. S rostoucí plochou povodí velikost návrhových úhrnů klesá, a to především v případě kratších dob akumulace. Data on rainfall intensity on the territory of the Czech Republic with a horizontal resolution of 1 km2 and a time step of 10 minutes, obtained by adjusting radar estimates with data from rain gauge stations, were used to derive design areal precipitation in the Czech river basins of 1st to 4th order and in the basins of surface water bodies. When the rainfall accumulation time is doubled, the design precipitation total in individual pixels increases by about 20% on average. The magnitude of the design totals decreases with increasing catchment area, especially for shorter accumulation periods.
