Communication strategies of gender-oriented topics among young people

The qualitative research focuses on young people (15-20 years old) and their approach to gender issues. The aim of the research is to analyse not only young people's interest in gender issues but also the forms of communication and presentation of gender issues to young people. The research also includes several interviews, mainly with teachers, about how gender topics are presented to students at school, whether they consider that young people should be educated in this area as well, and how best to communicate these topics to young people. Kvalitativní sonda se zaměřuje na výzkum mladých lidí (15-20 let) a jejich přístup k genderovým tématům. Cílem výzkumu je analyzovat nejen zájem mladých o genderová témata, ale také způsoby komunikace a představení genderových témat tak, aby to bylo pro mladé lidi zajímavé. Součástí výzkumu je také několik rozhovorů především s vyučujícími o tom, jak jsou studentům genederové témata ve škole představena, zdali považují za důležité mladé lidi vzdělat i v této oblasti a jak nejlépe tato témata s mladými lidmi komunikovat. \n

Understanding the terms "Best before" and "Use by" – Food 2022

The special survey Food 2022 conducted by the CVVM SOÚ AV ČR included a block of questions focusing on the Czech public's familiarity with the terms "Best before" and "Use by". The majority (73%) of the Czech public correctly use the term "Use by...", whereas the meaning of "Best before" life is less clear and almost half (47%) of the citizens attribute the same meaning to it as to "Use by".\nThe term "Best before" is correctly understood by 46 % of respondents. Since 2017, the Czech public's familiarity with the term has been growing.\nWhen shopping, 78% of citizens use the term "Use by" and 73% use the term "Best Before".\nFood beyond the "Best Before" date is consumed at least occasionally by 64% of respondents and 56% beyond the "Use by" date, both an increase compared to 2020. Do speciálního výzkumu Potraviny 2022 realizovaného CVVM SOÚ AV ČR byl zařazen blok otázek zaměřující se na obeznámenost české veřejnosti s pojmy „Minimální trvanlivost“ a „Spotřebujte do“.\nVětšina (73 %) české veřejnosti používá správně označení „Spotřebujte do…“ oproti tomu význam minimální trvanlivosti je méně jasný a téměř polovina (47 %) občanů mu přisuzuje stejný význam jako údaji „Spotřebujte do“. Pojmu „Minimální trvanlivost“ správně rozumí 46 % dotázaných. Od roku 2017 obeznámenost české veřejností s tímto pojmem roste.\nPři nakupování se podle pojmu „Spotřebujte do“ rozhoduje 78 % občanů, podle pojmu „Minimální trvanlivost“ pak 73 %.\nPotraviny po uplynutí doby „Minimální trvanlivost“ alespoň občas spotřebovává 64 % dotázaných a po datu použitelnosti („Spotřebujte do“) pak 56 %. V obou případech jde o nárůst v porovnání s rokem 2020.

In the period from the first half of September to the beginning of November of 2022 within the regular survey the Public Opinion Research Centre questioned respondents about their confidence in constitutional institutions. In this survey there was a question about their trust to the Chambers of Parliament, the President, the Government, and Local and Regional Councils.\n33% of Czechs trust the president, 28% trust the government.\nThe Chamber of Deputies has the confidence of 28% and the Senate of 34% of the public.\n13% of Czech citizens declare satisfaction with political situation, 62% are dissatisfied. V reprezentativním šetření CVVM SOÚ AV ČR byla v průběhu období od září do listopadu 2022 vybraným občanům položena otázka, zda důvěřují základním ústavním institucím.\nPrezidentovi důvěřovalo 33 % Čechů, vládě 28 %.\nPoslanecká sněmovna má důvěru 28 % a Senát 34 % veřejnosti.\nNejvyšší důvěře se těšili starostové (62 %) s obecními zastupitelstvy (63 %).\nS politickou situací bylo spokojeno 13 % občanů, nespokojenost vyjadřovala více než třípětinová většina (62 %) veřejnosti.

Older School–Age Children’s Leisure and its Experiencing. Results of the Representative Survey – Czech Republic 2021 (Monitoring Study)

The aim of the study is to present results of the own representative survey How children spend and experience their leisure 2021, which monitor the state of children's leisure at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century. In the begging of the study, the main findings are summarized and the parameters of the research are introduced. Then, the results of a more detailed analyses are presented. At first, these focus on how much leisure children have. Then, two more extensive chapters follow that represent the main parts of the study. They focus on how children spend their leisure and how they experience it. The final part of the study presents selected factors influencing the possibilities and ways of spending leisure: parents' views on children's leisure, household expenses related to children's leisure, satisfaction with the possibilities for spending leisure and perceived barriers. Cílem publikace je čtenáře seznámit s detailnějšími výsledky vlastního reprezentativního šetření Volný čas dětí a jeho prožívání 2021, které monitorují stav problematiky trávení volného času dětí na počátku třetího desetiletí 21. století. V úvodu jsou shrnuta hlavní zjištění a představeny základní parametry výzkumu. Následují výsledky podrobnějších analýz. Ty nejprve seznamují s tím, kolik volného času děti mají. Hlavním těžištěm studie jsou dvě následující rozsáhlejší části věnované tomu, jak děti svůj volný čas tráví a jak ho prožívají. Závěrečná část představuje vybrané faktory ovlivňující možnosti a způsoby trávení volného času: názory rodičů na volný čas dětí, výdaje domácností spojené s volným časem dětí, spokojenost s možnostmi pro trávení volného času a pociťované bariéry.

Attitudes of the Czech Public to Climate Change on Earth – September/November 2022

In a survey conducted from the beginning of September to the beginning of November 2022, the CVVM SOÚ AV ČR dealt with the long-standing and highly debated topic of climate change on Earth. We were interested in what the Czech public thinks about this topic. Just under three-fifths (58%) of respondents are somewhat worried about the impacts of climate change (14% very worried, 44% somewhat worried), while 39% are not worried. Just under two-fifths (39%) of respondents are interested in the issue of climate change, with 6% 'very interested' and 33% 'somewhat interested'. More than a quarter (28%) of respondents think that human activity contributes 'a lot' to climate change, another 32% think it contributes 'a lot' and just under a third (32%) think it contributes 'a little'. Only 3% of respondents believe that human activity is 'not contributing at all' to climate change. 35% of respondents feel personally responsible for climate change on Earth, while the majority (61%) do not feel personally responsible. V šetření realizovaném od začátku září do začátku listopadu 2022 se CVVM SOÚ AV ČR zabývalo dlouhodobě velmi diskutovaným tématem, kterým je změna klimatu na Zemi. O problematiku změny klimatu se zajímají necelé dvě pětiny (39 %) dotázaných, z toho 6 % se „velmi zajímá“ a 33 % „spíše zajímá“. Necelé tři pětiny (58 %) dotázaných se v určité míře obávají dopadů změny klimatu (14% velmi, 44 % spíše), naopak obavy nepociťuje 39 % dotázaných. Podle více než čtvrtiny (28 %) dotázaných lidská činnost ke změně klimatu „přispívá zásadně“, podle dalších 32 % k ní „přispívá velmi“ a další necelá třetina (32 %) dotázaných si myslí, že k ní „přispívá trochu“. Pouze 3 % dotázaných zastávají názor, že lidská činnost ke změně klimatu „vůbec nepřispívá“. Osobní zodpovědnost za změnu klimatu na Zemi cítí 35 % respondentů, většina (61 %) naopak osobní zodpovědnost necítí.

Citizens on Development of Situation in Afghanistan - September/October 2021

In a survey conducted in September and early October 2021, the Public Opinion Research Centre asked all respondents several questions concerning the development of the situation in Afghanistan in connection with the withdrawal of the United States Armed Forces and other allies within the NATO mission from the country. More than a third (36%) of the Czech public were interested in the development of the situation in Afghanistan. Seven out of ten Czech citizens assess the situation in Afghanistan as a threat to world peace, and two thirds perceive it as a threat to European security. About half of the Czech public sees this situation as a threat to the security of the Czech Republic. 45% of Czech citizens consider the decision to withdraw the armed forces and to end the NATO mission in Afghanistan to be the right one, 31% think the opposite. Less than a quarter (24%) consider NATO's mission in Afghanistan to be a success, with about half (51%) finding it a failure. 56% of Czech citizens consider the decision to evacuate Afghan collaborators of Czech mission and their families to the Czech Republic to be the right, and 29% think the opposite. V šetření realizovaném v září a na počátku října 2021 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR položilo všem dotázaným několik otázek týkajících se vývoje situace v Afghánistánu v souvislosti se stažením ozbrojených sil Spojených států a dalších spojenců v rámci mise NATO. O vývoj situace v Afghánistánu se zajímala více než třetina (36 %) české veřejnosti. Sedm z deseti českých občanů hodnotí situaci v Afghánistánu jako hrozbu pro mír ve světě, dvě třetiny ji jako hrozbu vnímají i pro evropskou bezpečnost. Jako hrozbu pro bezpečnost České republiky tuto situaci vidí asi polovina české veřejnosti. 45 % českých občanů hodnotí rozhodnutí o stažení ozbrojených sil a ukončení mise NATO v Afghánistánu jako správné, 31 % si myslí opak. Jen necelá čtvrtina (24 %) vnímá misi NATO v Afghánistánu jako úspěšnou, asi polovina (51 %) ji pokládá za neúspěch. 56 % českých občanů hodnotí jako správné rozhodnutí o evakuaci afghánských spolupracovníků české mise i s rodinami do ČR, 29 % si myslí opak.

In the November/December survey the Public Opinion Research Centre put all respondents several questions concerning the assessment of the current situation in the world in terms of international relations, economics, security, conflict resolution or solving of global environmental problems. V listopadovém a prosincovém šetření, které se uskutečnilo v rámci kontinuálního výzkumu veřejného mínění CVVM, byla respondentům položena otázka zjišťující to, jak česká veřejnost hodnotí situace ve světě, pokud jde o mezinárodní vztahy, ekonomiku, bezpečnost, řešení konfliktů a řešení globálních problémů v oblasti životního prostředí.

In November/December 2021 survey CVVM investigated how sympathetic or unsympathetic are some selected countries to the Czech public. In this survey 13 countries were selected. The most sympathetic country among them according to Czech citizens is Slovakia followed by Austria, France, Great Britain and Hungary. V rámci šetření realizovaného v listopadu a prosinci 2021 předložilo CVVM svým respondentům otázku, jak sympatické či nesympatické jsou jim některé země. Dotázaní svoje postoje vyjadřovali na pětibodové škále s krajními hodnotami „velmi sympatická“ a „velmi nesympatická“. Nejvíce sympatií získalo Slovensko, stejně jako v minulých letech. Na druhém místě je Rakousko, následované Francií, Velkou Británií a Maďarskem. Na konci žebříčku se umístily Turecko, Rusko a Čína.

n November/December 2021, respondents were expressing views on threats by war, epidemics, natural disasters, economic crisis or resource crisis. The survey also focused on expectations concerning the future of the personal life of citizens, the future of the Czech society and the future of the whole humankind. These questions were amended with an open question trying to find out, what are their current fears. V listopadovém a prosincovém šetření CVVM zjišťovalo, zda lidé mají z něčeho obavy, a pokud ano, tak jaké (to byla otevřená otázka). Na tyto otázky navazovalo zjišťování názorů veřejnosti na reálnost ohrožení určitými skutečnostmi přesahujícími rámec republiky, jako je válka, epidemie, přírodní katastrofy a surovinová či ekonomická krize. Dále pak šetření zkoumalo, jaká očekávání do budoucnosti mají čeští občané, pokud jde o ně a jejich blízké, o Českou republiku, Evropu a lidstvo jako takové.
