Social time and its representation in the performance-oriented society of the 19th century: liberalization - monetization - pluralization
Řezníková, Lenka
2019 - Czech
One of the symptoms of the transition from the premodern society of estates to a modern civil society, as realized during the 19th century (at least at the ideological level) was the highlighting of time and its transformation into a secular instrument of liberal ideology. The monetization of time, expressed in Benjamin Franklin’s famous formulation „time is money“ (translated into Czech in 1838) allowed time to be conceived as a factor in social ascent. In contrast to the estates privileges that quarantees social status on given a priori selective principles, time was given to everybody and its appropriate utilization could ensure social ascent even for individuals from the lowest social strata. Hence time becomes a key component in the new liberal biographical project of social ascent, not only in the biological sense, but also with regard to the structure of social behaviour. Numerous instructions are given (even in fiction) on how to utilize time properly and transform it into material profit. As time in increasingly highlighted, so the importance of time periods and deadlines grows and need also incerases for synchronization and correct timing, because each actor noe disposes of his own time, which is not always compatible with the time of others actors. This study attempts to show how the new secularized time was represented in the emerging performance-oriented society and what consequences were in store for the monetization of time beyond this optimistic liberal discourse within the modernist generation at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Probability density determination by means of Gibbs entropy probability density
Náprstek, Jiří; Fischer, Cyril
2019 - English
A method of random response investigation of a nonlinear dynam-ical system is discussed. In particular, the solution of the probability density of a single/multi-degree of freedom (SDOF/MDOF) system response is investigated. Multiple stable equilibrium states with possible jumps of the snap-through type among them are considered. The system is Hamiltonian with weak damping excited by a set of non-stationary Gaussian white noises. The solution, which is based on the Gibbs principle of the maximum entropy of probability, can be employed in various branches of engineering. The search for the extreme of the Gibbs entropy functional is formulated as a constrained optimization problem. The secondary constraints follow from the Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) for the system considered or from the system of ordinary di_erential equations for the stochastic moments of the response derived from the relevant FPE Keywords: Fokker-Planck equation; Gibbs entropy functional; maximum entropy; probability density principle Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Multinuclear NMR Spectroscopy of Azo Dyes: NMR Metabolomics Study of the Association between Pancreatic Cancer and Diabetes Mellrtus.
Michálková, Lenka; Horník, Štěpán; Sýkora, Jan; Habartová, L.; Setnička, V.
2019 - English
In our study, 1H NMR metabolomics was employed to plasma samples of pancreatic cancer patients, individuals with long-term diabetes mellitus type 2 (lasting more than 5 years) and healthy controls. The NMR analyses were followed by establishing a statistical model based on principal component analysis and discriminant analysis. The aim was to discover differences between these groups and to define a potential biomarker panel. The statistical evaluation of metabolomics-based profiles provided high values of sensitivity and specificity. Subsequently, plasma samples of the risk group, specifically patients with recently diagnosed diabetes mellitus with a duration of <3 years (possible T3cDM), were analysed and the possibility of PC development was predicted. The achieved results showed strong potential of 1H NMR metabolomics to establish a biomarker panel that would facilitate the early diagnosis of PC and the possibility identify diabetic individuals, who are at risk of developing PC. As the dialytic tubing is impermeable for big molecules of receptor, the anions crossing the barrier of dialytic tubing to form complex with the receptor stay entrapped inside and can be removed from the solution. NMR methods were used to study the complexation properties of given receptors as well as to determine the concentration changes during dialytic experiments. Controlled time: history of time clock
Hlavačka, Milan
2019 - Czech
The measurement of time and its practical applications within transport, school and factory structures are civilizational phenomena of primery importance. When we examine the origins of time control we come up against two different worlds: the traditional world of clocks, clockmakers and clock patents on the one hand and the modern world of bureaucracies and factories on the other hand, i. e. the organisation of work in closed space outside of home. Hence this entails an entirely new associations of time and space with social consequences, so the history of time clocks not only involves the history of technocracy, but also civilizational and social history, as well as the history of the elimitation of defects in civilisation, by which is primarily meant the elimination od unpunctuality in the working proces. Time clock came to be seen as the primary disciplinary device in any transatlantic company. Keywords: time clock; working hours; disciplinary device Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Bolts loading in the stronly stressed rock mass
Waclawik, Petr; Sahendra, Ram; Šňupárek, Richard
2019 - Czech
The trial test of new mining method “Roadway-Pillar” was finished at the underground coal mine – ČSM Mine. The wide ranging monitoring was focused on the load bearing capacity of coal pillars and strata deformation changes induced by the roadway-pillar mining method. The results of monitoring allowed bolts loading and loading characteristics to be described. Further, an attempt is made to understand the rock bolt loading characteristics at different stages of rib dilation using numerical modelling with the available properties of rock mass and reinforcement for the studied site. Elastic and Mohr Coulomb strain-softening constitutive models are considered in FLAC3D to evaluate the performance of the rock bolts. „To express the Czech National Political Opinion”. Establishment of the Czech National Council in 1968
Hoppe, Jiří
2019 - Czech
The author describes in the text the genesis of the Czech National Council, which was formed in connection with the transition to the federal structure of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Its composition was strongly influenced by the Prague Spring 1968, and as a result, a specific political culture emerged, but it was not fully developed. Laplacian preconditioning of elliptic PDEs: Localization of the eigenvalues of the discretized operator
Gergelits, Tomáš; Mardal, K.-A.; Nielsen, B. F.; Strakoš, Z.
2019 - English
This contribution represents an extension of our earlier studies on the paradigmatic example of the inverse problem of the diffusion parameter estimation from spatio-temporal measurements of fluorescent particle concentration, see [6, 1, 3, 4, 5]. More precisely, we continue to look for an optimal bleaching pattern used in FRAP (Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching), being the initial condition of the Fickian diffusion equation maximizing a sensitivity measure. As follows, we define an optimization problem and we show the special feature (so-called complementarity principle) of the optimal binary-valued initial conditions. A genetic doubleness. The National Councils in the political system of Socialist Czechoslovakia
Gjuričová, Adéla
2019 - Czech
The article focuses on the National Councils in Czechoslovakia during the under-researched period of Socialist parliaments in the 1970 and 1980s. The author demonstrates their functions in the political system. She argues that they were expected to represent the Czech and Slovak "peoples" in the country's complicated representative structure, but their national(ist) trait was a part of the federalization of 1968 and "woke up" immediately after the Velvet Revolution. Článek sleduje národní rady v Československu v zatím nepříliš zkoumaném období socialistického parlamentarismu v 70. a 80. letech 20. století.
