Tomography of a bronze axe of the Únětice culture, found in Kukleny, Hradec Králové

It has been shown in the past that the computed X-ray tomography can bear significant new findings on the distribution of damaging and other structural details of the bronze findings. However, relatively high beam energies are necessary and it is not a priori ensured that the object under test would be penetrated with the radiation sufficiently. A big problem is also the photon scattering, which can make fine details indistinguishable. Therefore, a chosen Únětice culture axe has been submitted to a tomographical investigation in the laboratory of X-ray tomography of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, v.v.i. The result should confirm the suitability of the method for investigations of other similar bronze findings. V minulosti se ukázalo, že výpočetní rentgenová tomografie může přinést významné nové poznatky o rozložení poškození a jiných strukturálních detailech bronzových nálezů. Současně však jsou potřeba poměrně vysoké energie záření a předem není zcela zaručeno, že vybraný objekt bude dostatečně prosvícen. Velkým problémem je též rozptyl fotonů, tzv. scattering, který může znemožnit rozeznání jemných detailů. Proto byla v laboratoři rentgenové tomografie Ústavu teoretické a aplikované mechaniky, AV ČR, v. v. i., podrobena mikro-tomografickému průzkumu vybraná sekera z Únětické kultury. Výsledek by měl prokázat vhodnost metody pro průzkum dalších podobných bronzových nálezů. Microscopical characterization of layered pigmented coatings from the interior of the basilica of St. Venceslas in Stará Boleslav

The layers of individual samples, layer thicknesses, and their chemical composition were described using optical and electron microscopy. It was determined that most of them are lime coatings with the addition of natural clays, or zinc, lead, or iron pigments. Pomocí optické a elektronové mikroskopie byla popsána souvrství jednotlivých vzorků, tloušťky vrstev a jejich chemické složení. Bylo určeno, že většinou se jedná o vápenné nátěry s přídavkem přírodních hlinek, příp. zinečnatých, olovnatých či železitých pigmentů. The study was focused on the identification of the material used for the production of facade elements. Using thermal analysis and electron microscopy, it was found that it is not a mortar with a lime or cement binder, but a ceramic element. Studie byla zaměřena na identifikaci materiálu použitého na výrobu fasádních prvků. Pomocí termické analýzy a elektronové mikroskopie bylo zjištěno, že se nejedná o maltu s vápenným nebo cementovým pojivem, ale o keramický prvek. As part of the construction and technical survey, a microscopic analysis of samples of historic and modern core plaster and stucco was performed using a scanning electron microscope and SEM ‐ EDS analysis. Characterization of the aggregate and binder components of mortars was performed, comparison of mortars from different construction stages. The results of the survey work were used as a basis for the design of the reconstruction of the building. V rámci stavebně-technického průzkumu byl proveden mikroskopický rozbor vzorků historické a moderní jádrové omítky a štuku s využitím skenovacího elektronového mikroskopu a SEM‐EDS analýzy. Byla provedena charakterizace plniva a složek pojiva malt, porovnání malt z různých stavebních etap. Výsledky průzkumných prací byly použity jako podklad pro návrh rekonstrukce objektu. The study was focused on the identification of the material used for the production of paving in the vicinity of the fountain in Prague 6, Na Brusce Street. Using thermal analysis and electron microscopy, it was found that it is natural limestone. The results of the report were used as a basis for the design of the reconstruction intervention of the object.\n\n \n\n Studie byla zaměřena na identifikaci materiálu použitého na výrobu dlažby v okolí fontány v Praze 6, ulice Na Brusce. Pomocí termické analýzy a elektronové mikroskopie bylo zjištěno, že se jedná o přírodní vápenec. Výsledky zprávy byly použity jako podklad pro návrh rekonstrukce objektu. SEM-EDS and IEC analysis of the plaster from the interior of the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague proved a plaster layer consisting of two layers of core plaster with a different structure, a finishing layer and a coating. The plaster is contaminated with nitrates and chlorides, the content of nitrates is very high. SEM-EDS a IEC analýza omítky z interiéru Betlémské kaple v Praze prokázala omítkové souvrství sestávající z dvou vrstev jádrové omítky s odlišnou strukturou, štukové vrstvy a povrchové úpravy (nátěru). Omítka je kontaminovaná dusičnany a chloridy, obsah dusičnanů je velmi vysoký. Random response of a dynamic system under polynomial of a white noise

Many types of external additive random excitation of dynamic systems admit to be modelled as a combination of powers of a Gaussian noise. Such a type of excitation produces a non-Gaussian response even if the dynamic system is linear and the excitation is additive only. Although the excitation as a whole is non-Gaussian, the problem can be transformed into the form of a linear system with an additive and multiplicative white noise excitation which _nally produces a non-Gaussian response. The general method of transformation, the respective FPK equation, basic stochastic moments of the response, and a demonstrative example are discussed.
