For the rescue of wooden elements and wood products are often discussions and disputes about the extent to which current technologies and materials can be brought closer to their original historical designs. At first sight, it may seems that windows made today can not have the qualities of windows that today still fulfills their function after many decades and hundreds of years. On the other hand, however, it is obvious that such this view might lead to inadequate simplification and, in our view, also sometimes leads to the requirements formulation whose technical basis may not be in line with what is already known and verified. And we would like to share this second look. Při záchraně dřevěných prvků a výrobků ze dřeva se častou vedou diskuse a spory o to, do jaké míry se lze současnými technologiemi a materiály přiblížit původnímu historickému provedení. Na první pohled by se mohlo zdát, že okna vyrobená dnes nemohou kvalit oken, která dnes po mnoha desítkách a stovkách let ještě stále plní svou funkci. Na druhý pohled je však patrné, že takový pohled by mohl vést k neadekvátnímu zjednodušení a dle našeho názoru také občas vede k formulaci požadavků, jejichž technický základ nemusí být v souladu s tím, co je již známo a ověřeno. A právě o tento druhý pohled bychom se rádi podělili.
