Report of the research of the Coleoptera in Bird Park Josefovké meadows 2017

Research of the Coleoptera, was provided in year 2017 in Bird Park Josefovské meadows (Královéhradecký district, Czech Republic). This global entomology research is the first, which was in this locations make. By the research has been found 217 species of Coleoptera, therefrom 6 species are protected in Czech republic: Carabus ullrichi ullrichi Germar, 1824 , Carabus scheidleri helleri Ganglbauer, 1892, Cicindela campestris campestris Linnaeus, 1758, Brachinus explodens Duftschmid, 1812, Meloe proscarabaeus Linné, 1758 and Oxythyrea funesta (PODA, 1761). Also has been documented five species from Red list of invertebrate of Czech Republic (Farkač, Král & Škorpík 2005): Cryptocephalus pusillus Fabricius, 1777 – (EN); Ampedus nigroflavus (Goeze, 1777) – (NT); Coraebus elatus (Fabricius, 1787) – (NT); Acupalpus luteatus (Duftschmid, 1812) – (VU) and Grypus brunnirostris (Fabricius, 1792) – (VU). In the database of AOPK is also reported species Hydrophilus piceus (Linné, 1758) wich is documented in Red list (Farkač, Král & Škorpík 2005) as critically endangered.

Toy or Toxic Waste?

Our study is a continuation of the investigations of IPEN and Arnika that found octaBDE, decaBDE and HBCD in Rubik's cubes, children's toys and hair accessories, i.e., products that were not treated with these substances but made of recycled plastic. The previous study indicates that banned brominated flame retardants commonly found in hazardous electronic and building waste are recycled into new products where they were not present historically. We conducted additional sampling to further examine whether toxic substances are being recycled into children’s toys on the Czech market. Studie z prosince 2017 shrnuje základní výsledky analýzy přítomnosti toxických látek, konkrétně bromovaných zpomalovačů hoření v hračkách pro děti vyrobených z recyklovaných plastů. Studie vznikla v rámci projektu Recykluj bez jedů a jejím cílem je upozornit na problematiku recyklace plastů s obsahem toxických látek a jejich návratu do oběhu v podobě nových výrobcích.
