2010 - Czech The Digitization registry of the Czech Republic is national project, which is developed under the cooperation of National Library of Czech Republic, Academy of Sciences Library with close cooperation with other partners from Czech libraries. The aim of the national registry of the digitized documents is to avoid unwanted duplicities during digitization process and to enable sharing the digitization results across the Czech Republic. The Digitization Registry could also provide to the system users tools for digitization workflow management to simplify the way of the monitoring digitization process. The solution could also serve to end users as the central access point to digitized documents. Very important is also the fact that it cooperates with library catalogue systems as well as with digital document repositories. At the end of 2010 there were 39 thousand records in the Registry. National Library will guarantee regular operation of the Registry. Záměrem projektu Registr digitalizace CZ je vytvoření národního registru digitalizovaných dokumentů, sloužícímu k evidenci digitalizace v knihovnách (a do budoucna i dalších paměťových institucí), k snadnějšímu sdílení výsledků digitalizace a k zamezení duplicit při zpracování. Vytvářený systém slouží také k řízení a evidenci workflow na digitalizačních pracovištích jednotlivých institucí a umožňuje sledovat celý proces již od výběru dokumentu k digitalizaci. Řešení je provázáno s dalšími systémy využívanými v knihovnách – zejména Kramerius a Aleph. Pro zpřístupnění aktuálních informací o stavu digitalizace koncovým uživatelům je použit vyhledávací nástroj Fast. Uživatelské přístupy jsou realizovány prostřednictvím webové aplikace. Grey Literature and the Role of the Library of the AS CR

2010 - Czech The Library of the ASCR is a coordinator of the data collection in the ASCR. In the ASEP database have been gathered more than 180,000 records, which are classified into 20 types. Although the records of grey literature do not belong to evaluated scientific results, they are abundantly represented in this database. A structure of grey literature data records has been adjusted to correspond with the data structure in NRGL. There is a possibility to add a full text to the records and it is possible to harvest data. Knihovna AVČR je koordinátorem sběru dat v AVČR. V databázi ASEP je uloženo více jak 180000 záznamů, které jsou zařazeny do 20 druhů. Přestože záznamy šedé literatury nepatří k hodnoceným výsledkům vědeckých výstupů, jsou v této bázi hojně zastoupeny. Struktura dat záznamů šedé literatury byla upravena tak, aby odpovídala struktuře dat v NUŠL, k záznamům je možno přikládat plné texty a data sklízet (harvestovat). Evaluation of scientific performance based on citation statistics or myocardial factor - good servant but a bad master.

2009 - Czech This is a report about the use and misuse of citation data in the assessment of scientific research. The idea that research assessment must be done using „simple and objective“ methods is increasingly prevalent today. The „simple and objective“ methods are broadly interpreted as bibliometrics, that is, citation data and the statistics derived from them. There is a belief that citation statistics are inherently more acurate because they substitute simple numbers for complex judgments, and hence overcome the possible subjectivity of peer review. But this belief is unfounded.“ Tento příspěvek pojednává o užívání a zneužívání na citačních údajích založených indikátorech při evaluaci vědeckého výkonu ať jednotlivců, tak institucí, z nichž nejrozšířenější je IF databáze WoS společnosti Thomson & Reuters. V dnešní době vzrůstají tendence založené na myšlence, že evaluace musí být prováděna „jednoduše a objektivně“. Metody „jednoduše a objektivně“ jsou široce pojímany jako bibliometrie, tedy citační údaje a z nich odvozené indikátory. Takovéto indikátory jsou dnes považovány za daleko přesnější, protože zaměňují prostá čísla za složité posudky a tak překonávají možnou a přirozenou subjektivitu peer review procesu posuzování. Open Access and institutional repository : approach of the Czech Academy of Science and link-up to international projects

2009 - English The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCR) is a signatary of the Berlin Declaration since the last year. In April 2009 the Scientific Council of the Academy stepped forward and recommended in a statement addressed to the newly elected management of the Academy to: formulate ASCR policy for OA; finish preparation of the central institutional repository of ASCR and use it for OA; actively use ASCR’s potential as a unified and strong organization for effective development of an information infrastructure for R&D and determine concrete rules for access to infrastructures built in the frame of “OP VaVpI EU” projects. The Czech Academy of Sciences Library (CASL) has been invited to participate in the process and actively contribute to the OA case in the future. There are a few projects with central impact that concerns OA. We describe two of them in the paper. Digitalization project of signed illustrations in prints from the years of 1501-1750 held in the ASL collection

2009 - Czech The paper deals with Digitalization project of signed illustrations in prints from the years of 1501-1750 held in the ASL collection, which has resulted in the creation of a database with around 3,000 signed illustrations, which are the work of around 600 creators, and also 510 print containing these illustrations.Thanks to detailed compilation of both signed illustrations and printed materials in which illustrations are found, this database provides wide-ranging possibilities of interdisciplinary utilisation. Aside from the research possibilities that the database offers, the article is also focused on the overall characteristic of the mentioned group of signed illustrations, with regard to developmental changes of book illustrations over the course of the 16th through the 18th century, and to certain problems when deciphering the symbolic language of illustrations in the given period. Článek představuje projekt Digitalizace signovaných ilustrací v tiscích z let 1501-1750 uchovávaných ve fondu Knihovny Akademie věd ČR, v. v. i., jehož výsledkem bude zveřejnění databáze s cca 3000 signovanými ilustracemi, které jsou dílem cca 600 umělců a jsou součástí 510 tisků z fondu KNAV. Díky detailnímu popisu ilustrací a spisů, v nichž se ilustrace nacházejí, i širokým vyhledávacím možnostem, které databáze nabídne, bude projekt významným příspěvkem nejen pro studium dějin knihy, knihtisku a knižní kultury, ale i dějin obecně a dalších příbuzných disciplín. Příspěvek se zaměřuje i na obecnou charakteristiku zmíněného souboru ilustrací a na některé problémy při dešifrování jejich symbolického jazyka. Do we evaluate the research profesionally?

2008 - Czech The science and research undoubtedly are the most powerful tools of human civilization and the expenses allocated in belong to optimal investment at all. The identification of top research areas, organization, teams and/or indviduals has therefore crucial importance for allocation of financial resources. The evaluation of research quality is then key factor. However, the evaluation of research quality and output is a complex problem due to nature of research processes. The research achievement has two inherent components: quality (= what was done) and quantity (= how much was done). While the first component is evaluated by peer review systems, the later is based on database with scientific informations nad/or derived from them indicators. Quantity data (indicators) are always core parameters of evaluation systems, frequently used without peer review.This contributions dealst with some problems with databases and indicators application in R,T and D evaluations. Věda je nejmocnější nástroj lidské civilizace a prostředky do ní vložené jsou jednou z nejvýhodnějších investic vůbec. Proto je nesmírně důležité správně alokovat dostupné zdroje prostředků a identifikovat ty oblasti vědy, organizace, skupiny a jednotlivce ve vědě a výzkumu, které jsou v systému nejvíce přínosné. Hodnocení výkonu ve vědě a výzkumu je proto klíčový moment. Takové hodnocení je však vzhledem k povaze vědy metodicky velmi složitá záležitost. Výkon ve vědě a výzkumu má vždy dvě složky (zastoupené v různém poměru): kvalitativní (= co bylo vykonáno) a kvantitativní (= kolik bylo vykonáno). Zatímco hodnocení prvé složky je nutno provádět peer review systémem, pro druhou složku jsou široce využívány databáze vědeckých informací a indikátory, které z nich lze odvodit. Správnost a úplnost údajů v takových databázích jsou tudíž nezbytným předpokladem pro hodnocení ve vědě a výzkumu. 2008 - Czech Document content is comparing and analyzing of two greatest citated sources, Web of Science (Thomson Reuter) and SCOPUS (Elsevier). Both products are monitored from view of chronological and contentual amount searching possibilities, consecutive work with retrieved data and comprehensive user friendly searching system. Benefits and misssing parts in both information sources are mentioned. Obsahem příspěvku je porovnání dvou největších citačních zdrojů, Web of Science (Thomson Reuter) a SCOPUS (Elsevier). Oba produkty jsou sledovány především z hlediska časové i obsahové šíře, vyhledávacích možností, návazné práce se získanými daty a celkové uživatelské přívětivosti. Jsou zmíněny přednosti i případné nedostatky obou informačních zdrojů. The library of František of Ditrichštejn in the contemporary context

2007 - Czech The author observed the history of the Ditrichštejn library, which became an important aristocratic collectors´ library in the 17th century. She concentrates on the persons of her owners (Adam of Ditrichštejn and František of Ditrichštejn) and their librarian arrangement. Extant contemporary catalogs of the Ditrichštejn library (1614 and 1646) make it possible to observed the progress of this librarian arrangement over the 30 years. The autor conclused, that Ditrichštejn book collection presents rare experiment about the application of the catholics librarian principles. Autorka sleduje dějiny ditrichštejnské knihovny, která patřila k významným šlechtickým knižním sbírkám 17. století. Soustředila se na to, jak osobnost majitelů (Adam z Ditrichštejna a František z Ditrichštejna) ovlivňovala podobu a uspořádání této knihovny. Dochované dobové katalogy (1614 a 1646) umožnily také sledovat vývoj knihovnického uspořádání této šlechtické bibliotéky v průběhu třiceti let. Autorka došla k závěru, že Ditrichštejnská knižní sbírka představuje ve své době ojedinělý pokus o aplikaci katolických knihovnických principů.
