Volcanoes in 19th century Czech specialist output and journalism

The study deals with the scientific interest of volcanic activity in the Czech society from the late 18th to the late 19th century in connection with the contemporary discourse on the formation of the Earth. The study then follows up impact of this interest to a gradual increase of the original Czech scientific and popular production on this topic. Studie sleduje vědecký zájem o sopečnou činnost v české společnosti od konce 18. do konce 19. století v souvislosti s dobovým diskursem o formování planety Země a mapuje vliv tohoto zájmu na postupný nárůst původní českojazyčné vědecké i popularizační produkce k tomuto tématu.

The Geographical Institute of Comenius University between World War I and World War II

The text discusses the origins and development of the Geographical Institute at Comenius University in Bratislava in the 1920s and 1930s, coupled with the work of Czech professors, especially Jiří Daneš, František Štůla and Jiří Král; although ethnically Czechs, all during their work in Bratislava were directing their research into the geography of Slovakia and the Sub-Carpathian Russia. Text sleduje vznik a vývoj Geografického ústavu na Komenského univerzitě v Bratislavě ve 20. a 30. letech 20. století, spojený s působením českých profesorů, zejména Jiřího Daneše, Františka Štůly a Jiřího Krále; ač etnicky Češi, všichni během bratislavského působení směřovali svůj výzkum k otázkám geografie Slovenska a Podkarpatské Rusi.

This study intends to make a comparison of the Czech Lands and Bavaria between 1861 and 1914 in terms of their systems of political parties. The study is based on the assumption that there were two levels of high politics for Bavaria and for the Czech Lands – at the levels of province and empire. The study focuses in particular on what way this similar political structure was reflected in the systems of Czech, Moravian and Bavarian political parties. Podstata studie spočívá v porovnání Českých zemí a Bavorska v letech 1861-1914 z hlediska systémů politických stran. Studie je vychází z předpokladu, že tehdy byly pro Bavorsko i pro České země vlastní dvě roviny vysoké politiky – úroveň zemská a říšská. Studie se hlavně zaměřuje na to, jakým způsobem se tato obdobná struktura politiky odrazila v systémech českých, moravských a bavorských politických stran.

Poor care in Bohemia and Bavaria in the 19th century

In both countries, a system was developed for the poor care, in which age care and medical care are not centralized and were not uniformly secured for all. In the Czech lands as well in Bavaria, however, began with the enlightenment of a process that covered the bandwidth of the instruments for combating poverty. V obou zemích byl vyvinut systém pro chudinskou péči, ve kterém zabezpečení ve stáří a lékařská péče nebyly centralizované a nebyly jednotně zajištěny pro všechny. V českých zemích i v Bavorsku však začal od osvícenství proces, který rozšířil šířku nástrojů pro boj s chudobou.

They can serve as an inspiration for contemplation and further researche. Jednotlivé příklady z historie a současnosti České republiky a Bavorska vytvářejí transregionální mozaiku kontrastních historických jevů, které mohou sloužit jako inspirace pro přemýšlení a další výzkum.

The Comparison of Absolutist Forms of Government in Bavaria and Bohemia in 17th and 18th Centuries

The regions, which was divided by mutual border since Middle Ages, have a lot of historical similarities and parallels. This study focused on the political resemblances between Bavaria and Bohemia in 17th and 18th centuries, in the period of absolutism. Above all we can see the relationship to Habsburg dynasty, which ruled hereditary in Bohemia. The Habsburgs concurrently were the Heads of Holy Roman Empire, which was important for Bavaria. The considerable similarities we can find in the internal politics as well: both the Habsburgs and the Wittelsbachs tried to marginalize the Diets and other representations of the estates for example. Regiony, které byly od středověku rozděleny vzájemnou hranicí, mají mnoho historických podobností a paralel. Tato studie se zaměřila na politickou podobnost mezi Bavorskem a Čechami v 17. a 18. století, v období absolutismu. Především vidíme vztah k habsburské dynastii, která vládla dědičně v Čechách. Habsburkové byli současně hlavou svaté říše římské, což bylo důležité pro Bavorsko. Značné podobnosti můžeme nalézt i ve vnitřní politice: jak Habsburkové, tak Wittelsbachové se snažili například marginalizovat sněmy a jiné zastoupení stavů.

The aim of this paper is to share the experiences gained during the creating anf filing a database of 17th and 18th century members of religious orders living within the territory of the Czech Lands. It focuses mainly on issues of standardization of biographical data. Cílem studie je podělit se o zkušenosti s vytvářením a plněním biografické databáze řeholníků žijích v 17. a 18. století na území historických českých zemí. Soustředí se zejména na problematiku standardizace biografických dat.

Ten years after the issue of „Bayern und Böhmen: Kontakt, Konflikt, Kulturʺ, Collegium Carolinum published a cross-sectional work on the parallel Czech and Bavarian past of the last 1500 years. The sumitted essays of this publication can be divided into three types: the type A comproses divergent prosesses with weak interactions, the type B comprises cases that indicate homogeneous phenomena or converged proces with significant external influences, the type C captures mutually strongly interconnected proces where, in addition to the general external effects, a fundamental impulse of one of the investigated regions made an impact. Deset let po vydání monografie „Bayern und Böhmen: Kontakt, Konflikt, Kulturʺ vyšlo ve spolupráci s Collegiem Carolinem průřezové zpracování paralelní české a bavorské minulosti za posledních 1500 let sousedství. Předložené eseje této publikace mohou být rozděleny do tří typů: typ A představuje studie se slabou interakcí, typ B zahrnuje případy, které naznačují homogenní jevy nebo procesy s významnými vnějšími vlivy, typ C zachycuje vzájemně propojený jev, kde kromě obecného vnějšího vlivu působil vzor jedné ze zkoumaných oblastí.
