The differentiation and maturation of megakaryocytes is characterized by endomitotic divisions which result in the formation of large polyploid cells the cytoplasm of which is segregated as thrombocytes. The present study was undertaken to provide more information on the incidence of nucleoli in naked magakaryocytic nuclei representing terminal stages of the megakaryocytic development after the loss of the cytoplasm transformed to thrombocytes. An increase in diffusion barriers, manifestes by a decrease of both ADCTMA and ADCW, occurs throughout the entire cortex of the wounded hemisphere.
