Numerical Simulation of Precast Concrete Panel for Airfield Pavement
Novák J.; Kohoutková A.
2019 - English
Numerical analysis software belong to the main tools for simulating the real behavior of various concrete structures. In comparison with experimental tests, they offer an affordable way to study the mechanical behavior of structures under various conditions. The contribution deals with a precast element of an innovative airfield pavement system which is being developed within an ongoing scientific project. The proposed system consists of a two-layer surface course of the precast concrete panels placed on a two-layer sub-base of fiber reinforced concrete with recycled aggregates. Enormous costs of full-scale experiments force to simulate the behavior of the element in a numerical analysis software using finite element method. The simulation was conducted on a nonlinear model in order to obtain such results which could fully compensate results from experiments. The main objective of the simulation was to design and optimize the reinforcement of the precast element subject to quasi-static loading from airplanes with respect to geometrical imperfections, manufacturing imperfections, tensile stress in reinforcement and crack width. The numerical simulation revealed that the precast element should be heavily reinforced to fulfill all the demands assumed. Using under-reinforced concrete elements would lead to the formation of wide cracks and cracks permanently open Keywords: Precast concrete panel; pavement; numerical simulation; non-linear model; airfield Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Solving a problem of authority control in DSpace during ORCID implementation
Šorejsová, Tereza; Kováříková, Helena; Němečková, Lenka; Prajer, Ivo; Karel, Petr; Novák, Rostislav
2016 - English
Many universities intend to obtain ORCID identifier for their researchers and to use it in their university systems, one of the most common being the university repository. University repositories are no isolated archives. They provide significant added value to the existing university information infrastructure, and their integration within the university information system is essential. The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) systematically builds integration of its repository within various subsystems of the university information system. It provides mutual advantages. The article discusses a technical and process solution to how users can obtain their ORCID identifiers through university identity management system, its distribution to the integrated university systems (such as university repository, study information system, CRIS), and the design of the optimized automated data flow and data management of ORCID identifier distribution between the entities involved without a need of frequent manual intervention. It illustrates the possibilities of integrating ORCID to university systems using ORCID APIs and advantages of synchronizing ORCID identifier to DSpace using newly developed DSpace authority control and extension of DSpace RESTful API. The synchronization processes are fully automated and they are based on Enterprise Service Bus technology. Keywords: University systems ORCID integration; University data workflow; DSpace authority control; University repository integration; DSpace RESTful API Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Context Sensitive Navigation in Hospitals
Balata, Jan; Macík, Miroslav; Míkovec, Zdeněk
2013 - English
In this paper we introduce an in-hospital navigation system suitable for motor impaired, visually impaired and elderly people. GPS localisation and WiFi triangulation are often not suitable in indoor environments due to poor signal or complicated calibration. We present a navigation system that does not depend on precise electronic localisation aids. User interfaces used are automatically accustomed to target user's abilities and preferences. Four di erent terminal types are used for the navigation system prototype. Keywords: navigation; UI generation; context modelling; accessibility Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Synchronous Phasors Monitoring System Application Possibilities
Kasembe, Andrew G.; Müller, Zdeněk; Švec, Jan; Tlustý, Josef; Valouch, Viktor
2012 - English
The paper deals with some tasks of advanced methods to achieve security and reliability of transmission power systems. There are discussed advanced principles and techniques in monitoring systems. The paper main part is devoted to possible applications of PMUs (Phasor Measurement Unit) and their integration into WAMPaC systems (Wide Area Monitoring, Protection and Control). Significant transmission system states were analyzed in several case studies. PMUs utilization for voltage monitoring is demonstrated for three cases – standard system state, high-load state and islanding. Here the attention is paid to the possibilities of power system observability improvement using measuring chain error elimination. Other possible applications in transmission systems include ampacity determination of transmission corridors, the calculation of line electrical parameters using synchrophasor measurement, state estimation issues and power system stability. The power system model was established for methods and algorithms verification purposes. The appropriate algorithms and their parameters were found using simulation outputs to create the local automatics, e.g. Automatic Power System Stabilizer (PSS). Keywords: Phasor Measurement Unit; Wide Area Monitoring System; Transmission System; Power System Stability; Extraordinary States; Black-out; Loop Flows Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Gaussian Logic for Predictive Classification
Kuželka, Ondřej; Szabóová, Andrea; Holec, Matěj; Železný, Filip
2011 - English
We describe a statistical relational learning framework called Gaussian Logic capable to work efficiently with combinations of relational and numerical data. The framework assumes that, for a fixed relational structure, the numerical data can be modelled by a multivariate normal distribution. We demonstrate how the Gaussian Logic framework can be applied to predictive classification problems. In experiments, we first show an application of the framework for the prediction of DNAbinding propensity of proteins. Next, we show how the Gaussian Logic framework can be used to find motifs describing highly correlated gene groups in gene-expression data which are then used in a set-level-based classification method. Keywords: Statistical Relational Learning; Proteomics; Gene Expression Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Understanding Formal Description of Pitch-Based Input
Poláček, Ondřej; Míkovec, Zdeněk
2010 - English
The pitch-based input (humming, whistling, singing) in acoustic modality has already been studied in several projects. There is also a formal description of the pitch-based input which can be used by designers to define user control of an application. However, as we discuss in this paper, the formal description can contain semantic errors. The aim of this paper is to validate the formal description with designers. We present a tool that is capable of visualizing vocal commands and detecting semantic errors automatically. We have conducted a user study that brings preliminary results on comprehension of the formal description by designers and ability to identify and remove syntactic errors. Keywords: Non-verbal Vocal Interaction; Vocal Gesture; Formal Description; User Study Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Stability Control of Renewable Energy Sources in Distribution Systems
Tlustý, Josef; Müller, Zdeněk; Valouch, Viktor
2010 - English
Deregulation in the power market has encouraged the move towards distributed generation, where many smaller generating plants located close to major loads are penetrating into interconnected power systems. When the penetration level increases, several other problems will need to be faced and solved. Stability problems may arise, new planning tools will be needed, dispatching of energy sources with typical random production will be necessary, protection systems must be integrated and revised. In order to simulate power system dynamics programmable opened software in Matlab – DynaSolv was developed. The paper describes various principles of penetration synchronous machine type DGS into distribution network. This study provides possible complex analysis view on DGS stability issues, which can answer the possibility of connection. Keywords: stability; distributed generation; globally penetrated system; eigenvalues Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Ontology Driven Voice-Based Interaction in Mobile Environment
Kopsa, Jiří; Míkovec, Zdeněk; Slavík, Pavel
2005 - English
In this paper we are presenting a prototype of a voice user interface that allows users to interact with the mobile knowledge management system, which is being developed at Czech Technical University in Prague. The primary application domain of the system is facility and construction site management. The knowledge handled by the system consists of a domain ontology, site plans and their semantic descriptions (application ontology). The site plans are stored in the SVG format; the semantic descriptions along with the domain ontology are stored in the OWL format. The knowledge (described by the corresponding ontology) is used for efficient control of the voice based interaction with the knowledge management system. The implementation of the voice user interface is based on the existing VoiceXML platform. Available in digital repository of ČVUT.
