Numerical Simulation of Precast Concrete Panel for Airfield Pavement
Novák J.; Kohoutková A.
2019 - English
Numerical analysis software belong to the main tools for simulating the real behavior of various concrete structures. In comparison with experimental tests, they offer an affordable way to study the mechanical behavior of structures under various conditions. The contribution deals with a precast element of an innovative airfield pavement system which is being developed within an ongoing scientific project. The proposed system consists of a two-layer surface course of the precast concrete panels placed on a two-layer sub-base of fiber reinforced concrete with recycled aggregates. Enormous costs of full-scale experiments force to simulate the behavior of the element in a numerical analysis software using finite element method. The simulation was conducted on a nonlinear model in order to obtain such results which could fully compensate results from experiments. The main objective of the simulation was to design and optimize the reinforcement of the precast element subject to quasi-static loading from airplanes with respect to geometrical imperfections, manufacturing imperfections, tensile stress in reinforcement and crack width. The numerical simulation revealed that the precast element should be heavily reinforced to fulfill all the demands assumed. Using under-reinforced concrete elements would lead to the formation of wide cracks and cracks permanently open Keywords: Precast concrete panel; pavement; numerical simulation; non-linear model; airfield Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Solving a problem of authority control in DSpace during ORCID implementation
Šorejsová, Tereza; Kováříková, Helena; Němečková, Lenka; Prajer, Ivo; Karel, Petr; Novák, Rostislav
2016 - English
Many universities intend to obtain ORCID identifier for their researchers and to use it in their university systems, one of the most common being the university repository. University repositories are no isolated archives. They provide significant added value to the existing university information infrastructure, and their integration within the university information system is essential. The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) systematically builds integration of its repository within various subsystems of the university information system. It provides mutual advantages. The article discusses a technical and process solution to how users can obtain their ORCID identifiers through university identity management system, its distribution to the integrated university systems (such as university repository, study information system, CRIS), and the design of the optimized automated data flow and data management of ORCID identifier distribution between the entities involved without a need of frequent manual intervention. It illustrates the possibilities of integrating ORCID to university systems using ORCID APIs and advantages of synchronizing ORCID identifier to DSpace using newly developed DSpace authority control and extension of DSpace RESTful API. The synchronization processes are fully automated and they are based on Enterprise Service Bus technology. Keywords: University systems ORCID integration; University data workflow; DSpace authority control; University repository integration; DSpace RESTful API Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Spring water: to drink or not to drink?
Bodyagina, Anastasia
2016 - English
This article deals with the topic the significance of which has not been appreciated yet, but it is steadily increasing throughout the world. It is a topic of unhealthy drinking water. It is fresh water that gradually comes out on the top in the list of the most valuable natural resources, and it will overtake leaving far behind such titans of the economies of all countries as oil and gas without which there is no one can see the future now. Much attention is given to the research and the study of the quality of spring water in a concrete example. Keywords: pitná voda; kvalita; drinking water; quality Available in the ZČU Library.

Free and open source software in computer education: exploring the current situation in greek secondary schools
Panagiota, Sakellariou
2016 - English
Free and Open Source Software is recently gaining attention, especially due to its primary characteristics – it is free of charge and can be freely and easily obtained. While Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) assist education, schools are more than ever in need of quality software solutions to assist the act of teaching. Especially in Greek primary and secondary schools, which have limited financial resources, the use of FOSS can help lower the cost barrier and support the use of ICT’s in classroom. The purpose of this study is to explore the extent of FOSS’s use at computer courses in Greek secondary schools, focusing not only to the operating systems installed to the computer labs, but also to the specific applications used by teachers to improve students’ computer literacy and advanced computing skills. In addition, the reasons for and against the use of FOSS in education are explored, according to the teachers’ views. Keywords: software; výuka; střední škola; software; teaching; high school Available in the ZČU Library.
