The aim of this empirical study was to examine how players' explicit and implicit attitudes towards content depicted in a video game influence their interaction with the game and their game experience. In order to do so, this study examined a particular case of a video game representing gay and bisexual women. The primary aim was to investigate how players' game engagement is influenced by the topic portrayed and by their attitudes towards gay and bisexual women. The secondary aim was to explore the players' implicit and explicit attitude change towards gay and bisexual women as a result of playing the game. This study used an experimental and a control condition, with two versions of one game differing only in the identity of one character - in the experimental version she is a lesbian and in the control version a heterosexual woman. The modification of the game was a part of the thesis. Participants' implicit and explicit pretest and posttest attitudes were measured, and their game engagement was measured in the posttest. Results showed lower game engagement in the experimental compared to the control group, however, no link between initial attitudes and game engagement was found. There was no significant explicit or implicit attitude change. This study brings new data to the areas of game research... There is an increasing demand in the domain of data science for auto- mated tools analyzing the data lineage of software systems. In situations where general-purpose programming languages are used, Python is among the most popular choices. It is also one of the most challenging to analyze. Manta Flow is an automated data lineage analysis platform that contains a scanner for Python. In this work, we developed an extension of this scanner. Its purpose is to statically determine the types of expressions in an analyzed application. We achieved this by expanding the concept of data flows to carry type information and we appropriately refactored the internals of the scanner. This information was then used to implement an improved method for finding the targets of function invocations during the analysis of data flows. 2024 - English
Covid-19 is a highly contagious potentially life-threatening disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. The virus is responsible for a global pandemic and has claimed over 6 million human lives between years 2020 and 2022. To limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2, numerous vaccines have been developed and applied. For already infected individuals, antiviral drugs are applied. An important validated target is the main protease of SARS-CoV-2 (Mpro ). Although thousands of inhibitors have been prepared and one is used in clinical practice (sold under the name of Paxlovid), improved computational protocols to design new active compounds are needed. The computational approach used here is based on pharmacophores. By curating and inspecting 298 structures of Mpro /inhibitors complexes retrieved from the Protein Data Bank (PDB), we have generated six distinct pharmacophores featuring different binding modes. With their aid, we have carried out molecular docking, whose effectiveness was evaluated by measuring root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) of the generated poses with respect to the native conformations. The routine captured 177 out of 213 ligands naturally binding to the active site of the protein with 127 (72% of the captured) generated with RMSD within 2 Å relative to the native conformation....
SN1987A, the first supernova visible by the naked eye since 1600s, is anomalous by existence of preexisting triple ring nebula around it. One candidate explanation of the nebula is a binary merger of SN1987A's progenitors. This was already modelled in previous work with smoothed-particle hydrodynamics code GADGET. This thesis aims to replicate this model using mesh-based hydrodynamics code Athena++ and compare it. We focus on ejected mass per latitude distribution and total ejected mass. 1 Keywords: SN1987A|simulace; SN1987A|simulation|binary merger Available in a digital repository NRGL

Použití metod zobrazení mračna bodů pro ověření polohy kamery

2024 - English
Visual localization is the problem of estimating the 6 degrees of freedom camera pose from which a query image was taken relative to a known reference scene representation. It is the key for applications such as Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality, as well as autonomous robotics such as drones or self-driving cars. This thesis focuses on a visual localization pipeline, especially on its pose verification and reranking step. The pipeline uses 3D point clouds and 2D-3D correspondences be- tween the query image and 3D scene points for candidate camera poses estimations. The thesis explores point cloud rendering approaches as they are utilized in the pipeline and the verification step-the render of the discretized scene from a given candidate position is compared to the actual query image to asses if the given couple depicts the same place. One of the main challenges of such rendering is occlusion handling. Due to the sparsity of points employed for otherwise continuous real world representation, information about what lies in the front and what is hidden can be easily lost when projected to the 2D image. Rendering approaches explored in this thesis focus on the challenge directly or as a component of a novel view synthesis DNN-based renderer. Rendering influence on localization performance is investigated.

2024 - English
The process of setting material properties for realistic appearance after rendering is usually tiresome and often requires carefully crafted skill for fine-tuning the parameters, as different combinations of these parameters can produce different-looking materials. To simplify this process, we introduce a solution to the texture transfer problem by creating a pipeline containing several deep neural networks. These networks subsequently represent solutions to inverse rendering and material segmentation by predicting intrinsic scene characteristics, like diffuse and specular albedo, surface normals, glossiness, view vector, texture coordinates, and segmentation, all from a single image. Artists can subsequently plug these inferenced properties inside their 3D scene representations and thus reduce the time needed to iterate over several design ideas. To train these networks, we generated high-quality dataset of substantial size using physically-based techniques to ensure good generalization on real-world images. 1 Proces nastavování vlastností materiálu pro realistický vzhled po vyrenderování je obvykle únavný a často vyžaduje pečlivě nadobudnutou zručnost pro jemné doladění parametrů, protože různé kombinace těchto parametrů mohou produkovat různě vy- padající materiály. Pro zjednodušení tohoto procesu představujeme řešení problému přenosu textur vytvořením nástroje obsahujícího několik hlubokých neuronových sítí. Tyto sítě následně představují řešení pro inverzní renderování a segmentaci materiálu předpovídáním vnitřních charakteristik scény, jako je difuzní a lesklé albedo, povrchové normály, lesk, pohledový vektor, texturové souřadnice a segmentace, toto vše z jednoho snímku. Umělci mohou následně použít tyto odvozené vlastnosti ve svých reprezentací 3D scény a zkrátit tak čas potřebný k iteraci několika nápadů návrhů. Abychom tyto sítě trénovali, vygenerovali jsme vysoce kvalitní datovou sadu značné velikosti pomocí fyzicky založených technik, abychom zajistili dobrou generalizaci na obrázky z reálného světa. 1 Keywords: strojové učení|hluboké učení|počítačová grafika|inverzní renderování|segmentace materiálů|rozpoznávání materiálů; machine learning|deep learning|computer graphics|inverse rendering|material segmentation|material recognition Available in a digital repository NRGL

Soutež Algonauts 2023: predikce lidské fMRI aktivity při stimulaci vizuálními stimuli

2024 - English
In this thesis, we investigate the application of pretrained Deep Neural Networks, par- ticularly Vision Transformers (ViT), for predicting human fMRI activity in response to visual stimulation. The Algonauts Challenge 2023 dataset, serving as a large-scale bench- mark of human fMRI data, allows us to assess the performance of ViT in comparison with established CNN architectures like VGG and ResNet. Our study highlights the complex- ity of this task, especially in accurately modeling the diverse regions of the full visual cortex. We identify specific ViT layers that align with the brain's hierarchical processing and prove to be the most predictive. However, one of the limitations we encounter with pretrained ViT is its reduced adaptability due to inherent subject variability. This limi- tation underscores the challenge in developing a single model that is universally effective across different individuals. To address this, we implement an iterative training strategy, starting with the layers that perform best across all subjects, followed by fine-tuning for specific visual areas in individual subjects. Despite these efforts, the effectiveness of ViT varies; it performs satisfactorily in some subjects but struggles in others, particu- larly in word-selective regions. The incorporation of textual data... We explore the capability of evolution strategies to train a transformer architecture in the reinforcement learning setting. We perform experiments using OpenAI's highly parallelizable evolution strategy and its derivatives utilizing novelty and quality-diversity searches to train Decision Transformer in Humanoid locomotion environment, testing the ability of these black-box optimization techniques to train even such relatively large (com- pared to the previously tested in the literature) and complicated (using a self-attention in addition to fully connected layers) models. The tested algorithms proved to be, in gen- eral, capable of achieving strong results and managed to obtain high-performing agents both from scratch (randomly initialized model) and from a pretrained model. 1 Keywords: Evoluční strategie|Transformery|Optimalizace policy|Novelty; Evolution strategies|Tranformers|Policy optimization|Novelty Available in a digital repository NRGL

This thesis presents a comprehensive study of the application of reinforcement learning to algorithmic trading. The main focus of this thesis is on the generalization properties of various reinforcement learning algorithms, both from the data perspective and the applicability of the trained agents to real algorithmic trading. To that end, we develop a training environment taking into account various real-world factors influencing the performance of algorithmic trading strategies. We also experiment with the recurrent replay buffer extension of the DQN algorithm, known as R2D2, being, to the best of our knowledge, the first to employ this algorithm for the task of algorithmic trading. Each algorithm is evaluated against traditional algorithmic trading strategies, including the buy-and-hold strategy, to demonstrate the superior performance of the reinforcement learning strategies. On top of that we also provide a study on how the amount of training data and transaction costs influence the generalization of the algorithms to unseen market conditions. We show how transaction costs significantly increase the task complexity and that the R2D2 algorithm overperforms the commonly used baselines, as well as other state-of-the-art reinforcement learning algorithms in this task. 1 Keywords: zpětnovazební učení|algoritmické obchodování|generalizace|R2D2|hluboké učení; reinforcement learning|algorithmic trading|generalization|R2D2|deep learning Available in a digital repository NRGL
