Seminar of Numerical Analysis 2007(SNA´07) is the forth meeting of a series started in 2003. SNA´07 is the third of the SNA meetings, which is held at the Institute of Geonics AS CR Ostrava. At this occasion, we would like to mention that the Institute was founded in 1982, which means not only 25 years of work of the Institute but also 25 years of research in mathematical modelling methods and creating a research group that is taking part in organizing SNA meetings. As become a tradition, SNA´07 is a combination of winter school and seminar, which makes the program attractive for a broad range colleagues. Seminář numerické analýzy (SNA´07) je čtvrtým setkáním v řadě, která začala v roce 2003. SNA´07 je třetím setkáním, které se koná na Ústavu geoniky AV ČR v Ostravě. Při této příležitosti si připomínáme, že ústav byl založen v roce 1982, což neznamená jen 25 let práce na ústavu, ale také 25 let výzkumu metod matematického modelování a vytvoření badatelské skupiny, která se zúčastňuje setkání na SNA. Stalo se tradicí, že SNA je kombinací semináře a Zimní školy, což činí atraktivní program pro širší oblast badatelů.

Seminar on Numerical Analysis 2005 is a scientific meeting devoted to the progress in numerical methods, which are important for challenging simulation and mathematical modelling in science and engineering. Seminář numerické analýzy 2005 je vědecké setkání věnované pokroku v numerických metodách, které jsou důležité pro náročnou simulaci a matematické modelování ve vědě a inženýrství.

Iterative Methods, Preconditioning and Numerical PDEs. Proceedings of the conference dedicated to the jubilee of Owe Axelsson

These proceedings contain extended abstracts of the contributions delivered to the conference Iterative methods, preconditioning and numerical PDEs (IMET 2004) held in Prague. The topics of the conference are motivated ny mathematical modelling in science and engineering, which lead to a great interest in discretization methods and solution of the arising systems of linear or nonlinear equations. The advances in numerical simulations strongly depend on the achievements in both efficient numerical solution methods and in using high performance (parallel) computers. The recent trends and progress in numerical solution methods, mostly exploiting iterative techniques, are well documented by the conference papers. Tento sborník obsahuje rozšířené abstrakty referátů přednesených na konferenci Iterační metody, předpodmínění a numerické parciální diferenciální rovnice (IMET 2004), konané v Praze. Témata konference jsou motivována matematickým modelováním ve vědě a technice, které vyvolává velký zájem o diskretizační metody a řešení takto vzniklých soustav lineárních a nelineárních rovnic. Rozvoj numerických simulací silně závisí na pokroku jak v efektivních metodách numerického řešení, tak ve využití vysoce výkonných (paralelních) počítčů. Poslední trendy a vývoj v numerických metodách řešení, většinou využívajících iterační techniky, jsou v článcích konference dobře zdokumentovány.
