2024 - Czech
In collaboration with the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) and leveraging their historical examination data, we developed a convolutional neural net- work trained to identify diabetic retinopathy from retinal images. The primary objective of this project was to establish a machine learning model applicable within the medi- cal setting of IKEM, streamlining and potentially expediting the examination process. Additionally, we designed a user-friendly website to facilitate the straightforward utiliza- tion of the trained model by physicians possessing only basic computer skills. While the neural network demonstrates good results, it is crucial to underscore its restricted adapt- ability, attributed to the compact model size and the monotonic nature of ophthalmic data sourced from a specific type of fundus camera. The proposed solution is slated for testing in a real hospital operational environment. The neural network is not intended as a replacement for the physician, but as a tool that can assist the physician in diagnostic process. 1 Keywords: Strojové učení|Zpracování obrazu|Retinopatie|Neuronové sítě|Diagnóza; Machine Learning|Image Processing|Retinopathy|Neural networks|Medical diagnosis Available in a digital repository NRGL

2024 - English
In this thesis, we investigate the application of pretrained Deep Neural Networks, par- ticularly Vision Transformers (ViT), for predicting human fMRI activity in response to visual stimulation. The Algonauts Challenge 2023 dataset, serving as a large-scale bench- mark of human fMRI data, allows us to assess the performance of ViT in comparison with established CNN architectures like VGG and ResNet. Our study highlights the complex- ity of this task, especially in accurately modeling the diverse regions of the full visual cortex. We identify specific ViT layers that align with the brain's hierarchical processing and prove to be the most predictive. However, one of the limitations we encounter with pretrained ViT is its reduced adaptability due to inherent subject variability. This limi- tation underscores the challenge in developing a single model that is universally effective across different individuals. To address this, we implement an iterative training strategy, starting with the layers that perform best across all subjects, followed by fine-tuning for specific visual areas in individual subjects. Despite these efforts, the effectiveness of ViT varies; it performs satisfactorily in some subjects but struggles in others, particu- larly in word-selective regions. The incorporation of textual data...
We explore the capability of evolution strategies to train a transformer architecture in the reinforcement learning setting. We perform experiments using OpenAI's highly parallelizable evolution strategy and its derivatives utilizing novelty and quality-diversity searches to train Decision Transformer in Humanoid locomotion environment, testing the ability of these black-box optimization techniques to train even such relatively large (com- pared to the previously tested in the literature) and complicated (using a self-attention in addition to fully connected layers) models. The tested algorithms proved to be, in gen- eral, capable of achieving strong results and managed to obtain high-performing agents both from scratch (randomly initialized model) and from a pretrained model. 1 Keywords: Evoluční strategie|Transformery|Optimalizace policy|Novelty; Evolution strategies|Tranformers|Policy optimization|Novelty Available in a digital repository NRGL

This thesis presents a comprehensive study of the application of reinforcement learning to algorithmic trading. The main focus of this thesis is on the generalization properties of various reinforcement learning algorithms, both from the data perspective and the applicability of the trained agents to real algorithmic trading. To that end, we develop a training environment taking into account various real-world factors influencing the performance of algorithmic trading strategies. We also experiment with the recurrent replay buffer extension of the DQN algorithm, known as R2D2, being, to the best of our knowledge, the first to employ this algorithm for the task of algorithmic trading. Each algorithm is evaluated against traditional algorithmic trading strategies, including the buy-and-hold strategy, to demonstrate the superior performance of the reinforcement learning strategies. On top of that we also provide a study on how the amount of training data and transaction costs influence the generalization of the algorithms to unseen market conditions. We show how transaction costs significantly increase the task complexity and that the R2D2 algorithm overperforms the commonly used baselines, as well as other state-of-the-art reinforcement learning algorithms in this task. 1 Keywords: zpětnovazební učení|algoritmické obchodování|generalizace|R2D2|hluboké učení; reinforcement learning|algorithmic trading|generalization|R2D2|deep learning Available in a digital repository NRGL

2024 - Czech
This thesis aims for the comparation of historical, economic and cultural factors that are related to the establishment of tetrarchy in the year 285 AD and to the constitution of sedes imperii as settlement cities for individual emperors, especially with regard to emperor Diocletian's private palace in Split. A part of the thesis includes the analysis of the economic background and buildings near the cities, such as villae rusticae, and their effects on the development of the cities and economic prosperity in a broad region. In other part, the thesis focuses on the ideology and typology of self-representation of the emperors from earlier tetrarchy, as well as on the contrasts between the official emperor's cult and the personality cult of each individual emperor in their settlement cities, the latter being represented for example by triumphal arches or private emperor mausoleums. In the final part of the thesis there is a schema of transformations of sedes imperii after the decline of the first tetrarchy and in the time of Constantine's dynasty that follows. Práci uzavírá nástin proměn sedes imperii v období rozpadu první tetrarchie a v období následující konstantinovské dynastie. 2024 - Czech
In this work, we will introduce the concept of quantum scarring. Quantum scarring refers to the states inside the chaotic parts of spectra, which significantly differ from predictions for chaotic states. In this work, we will focus on Quantum Many-Body Scars (QMBS), which deviate from the Eigenvector Thermalization Hypothesis (ETH) predictions. First, we will introduce the ETH and several ways in which the QMBS deviate from it; periodic revivals of non-eigenstate QMBS, anomalously low values of entanglement entropy, and localization of Husimi function in the classical limit. We will apply these methods to detect and study QMBS on coupled Lipkin models. Nejprve představíme ETH a možnosti jejího narušení stavy QMBS, zejména periodické revivaly nevlastních stavů QMBS, anomálně nízké entropie provázaní a lokalizaci Husimiho funkce v klasické limitě. Tyto metody aplikujeme pro nalezení a studium stavů QMBS na více- násobných Lipkinových modelech. 1 Keywords: kvantové jizvy|kvantový chaos|hypotéza termalizace vlastních stavů|mnohočásticové systémy; quantum scars|quantum chaos|eigenstate thermalization hypothesis|many-body systems Available in a digital repository NRGL

This work focuses on the synthesis of nanoparticles of vanadium, titanium and their oxides. Magnetron-based gas aggregation source was used for nanoparticle preparation. Metallic nanoparticles of vanadium and titanium deposited on substrate were heated at atmospheric pressure which transformed them into oxides. Metallic and oxide nanopar- ticles are compared in terms of morphology, chemical composition, crystal structure and optical properties. Oxidation of vanadium nanoparticles during short heating times at the temperature of 450 řC is discussed in more detail. It was demonstrated, that ideal heating time for VO2 preparation is 60 s, the most stable vanadium oxide phase - V2O5 - is formed after longer heating. The change of electrical and optical properties with tem- perature (thermochromic behaviour) was monitored for VO2 nanoparticles. The V2O5 and TiO2 nanoparticles were tested for their photocatalytic effect and possible use as substrates for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). It was shown that TiO2 nanoparticles coated with a thin silver layer can be used as recyclable, enhancing SERS substrates.

2024 - English
This thesis studies optical and magneto-optical responses of thin epitaxial Ni-Mn- Ga films prepared by magnetron sputtering. The relative permittivity tensor spectra were computed from the spectroscopic ellipsometry data measured both without the external magnetic field and in the out-of-plane magnetic field configuration. For one of the thin film samples, measurements across martensitic transformation were performed and temperature-hysteresis was observed. The analysis of the obtained spectra for thickness- varied series of samples clearly demonstrated the influence of substrate-induced strain and revealed a strong correlation between the out-of-plane lattice parameter and the properties of the obtained spectra. 1 Keywords: epitaxní filmy|Ni-Mn-Ga|Heuslerovy slitiny|martensitická transformace|relaxace pnutí|spektroskopická elipsometrie|polární magneto-optický Kerrův jev; epitaxial films|Ni-Mn-Ga|Heusler alloy|martensitic transformation|strain relaxation|spectroscopic ellipsometry|polar magneto-optical Kerr effect Available in a digital repository NRGL
