Stručný přehled historie Mongolska
Šmahelová, Lucie
2010 - Czech
Zásadním a mnohdy i jediným zdrojem informací bývá proto právě archeologie. Mongolia is a part of huge epicentre of ethnic processes in the large area among Southern Siberia, Sayan and Altai Mountains. Due to climatic conditions and social-economic processes the older ethnics were assimilated or pushed by the recent ones to the steppes of Eurasia and further to European corridor. History of Mongolia is so far various and confused topic as its cultures were constantly in motion but historical sources are limited or even missing. The archaeology gives us the very important and often the only source of information. Keywords: archaeology; Mongolia; Prehistory; Early history; culture Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Sekerky s raménky pohledem metalografa
Hošek, Jiří
2010 - Czech
Dvě halštatské sekerky s raménky datované do Ha C2 – Ha D1-2, objevené v SZ Čechách, byly nedávno analyzovány autorem článku. Two Hallstatt flat-and-lugged axes (dated to Ha C2 – Ha D1-2) discovered in NW Bohemia have been recently examined by the author. First axe, from Březno u Milešova, was made of piled iron (locally steel) but its cutting edge was treated by carburization and quenching. The second axe, from Nakléřovský průsmyk, apparently reveals the case of steel cutting-edge welding onto an iron axe body. The steeled cutting edge and its tempering evidence advanced tool-making techniques. Both the examined axes belong to the less numerous group of high quality forgings. Nevertheless, regarding all the up to date examined flat-and-lugged axes, hardening of these tools might have been a common practice at the time. Evidence of tin coating on archaeological ferrous artefacts by voltammetry of microparticules (VMP)
Ottenwelter, Estelle; Costa, V.
2010 - English
Voltammetry of microparticules (VMP) using a paraffinimpregnated graphite electrode (PIGE) to transfer material directly from the artefacts to an electrochemical cell, was applied on two objects from Medieval Ages covered by a grey metallic coating in a variable state of conservation and appearance as a non invasive analytical method to characterise artefacts. Results have shown that the light grey metallic surface layers observed on both objects present different chemical composition, which could be determined in a selective way, following their stratigraphical location of the artefacts. Keywords: voltammetry of microparticules; tin coating; analytical method Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Finds of Early Modern period ceramics from cesspit B at Prague castle
Blažková-Dubská, Gabriela
2009 - English
The following text provides a detail analysis of the assemblage of ceramics from cesspit B, which was built onto the west wall of the southern transept of the Romanesque St. Vitus Basilica at Prague Castle. It is a total of 187 reconstructed vessels – 120 pots, 47 jugs, 9 bowls, 4 lids, 2 pans, 17 stove tiles and 3 miscellaneous objects. On the basis of the comparisons with published collections (Most, Tábor, Strážnice) is possible to date the use of cesspit B to the end of the 15th century and possibly into the first half of the 16th century. Keywords: Post-medieval; ceramics; Prague Castle Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Přehled výsledků dosavadního archeologického průzkumu areálu cisterciáckého kláštera v Sedlci u Kutné Hory
Velímský, Filip
2009 - Czech
Příspěvek přináší stručné shrnutí výsledků série záchranných archeologických výzkumů, které v letech 2004–2008 proběhly u konventního kostela Nanebevzetí Panny Marie v areálu cisterciáckého kláštera v Sedlci u Kutné Hory. Autor se v textu blíže věnuje zejména dvěma novým, pro dějiny stavby klíčovým zjištěním, konkrétně nálezu depotu mincí pražských grošů Václava II. a Jana Lucemburského, který datuje ukončení stavby věnce kaplí, uzavírajícího na východě stavbu konventního kostela, nejpozději v průběhu 2. desetiletí 14. století a odkrytí části doposud neevidované stavby, s největší pravděpodobností staršího románského konventního kostela. The article is a brief summary of results of the rescue archaeological excavations near the convent church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in the area of the Cistercian convent in Sedlec by Kutná Hora in years 2004-2008. The author focuses mainly on two new discoveries, which are crucial for the building history, concretely on the coin depot containing Prague Gross of Václav II. and Jan Lucemburský, dating the completion of the chapels in the east side of the convent church to the 2nd decade of 14th century at the latest, and on the partial uncovering of so far unregistered building, with high probability an older Romanesque convent church.
