Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na aktuální problematiku současného fenoménu migrace a jejích důsledků pro Českou republiku. Cílem teoretické části práce je nastínit způsoby migrace v České republice od konce druhé světové války až do současnosti, přiblížit legislativní rámec, který upravuje právní pobyt cizinců na území České republice a nabídnout přehled současné integrační politiky a její aplikace. Práce je zaměřená zejména na občany mimo země EU, a to zejména lidí vietnamského nebo ukrajinského původu. Cílem výzkumné části je podrobně prozkoumat výše uvedených národností, jejich integrační mechanismy a životní podmínky v České republice. This master thesis focuses on the actual problematic of contemporary migration phenomenon and its consequences for the Czech Republic. The aim of the theoretical part is to outline migration patterns in the Czech Republic since the end of the World War II up to the present-day situation, summarize the legislative framework which encompasses the legal stay of the foreigners in the Czech Republic and overview the actual integration Policy and its application. The paper examines in particular the conditions for the non EU nationals, in particular the people with Vietnamese or Ukrainian origin. The aim of the research part is to explore closely the above mentioned nationalities, their integration mechanisms and life conditions in the Czech Republic.

Diplomová práce se zabývá situací rodilých mluvčí vyučujících anglický jazyk na českých školách. Teoretická část se nejprve zaměřuje na role, kvality, autonomii a zodpovědnost učitelů a porovnává autoritu rodilých mluvčí v České republice a v anglicky mluvících zemích. Dále definuje pojem rodilý mluvčí anglického jazyka, věnuje se faktorům ovlivňujícím rozdíly mezi rodilými mluvčími a českými učiteli, zabývá se kvalifikací a pracovními příležitostmi rodilých mluvčích v České republice a nastiňuje problematiku kulturního šoku a překonávání kulturních rozdílů ve vyučování. V praktické části se pomocí rozhovorů s řediteli škol snaží zjistit jejich názor na danou problematiku a prostřednictvím dotazníku pro rodilé mluvčí se snaží zmapovat jejich postoje vůči českým žákům, míru kvalifikace, důvody pro příchod do České republiky, působnost na českých školách a spokojenost se současnou situací v České republice. This diploma work deals with the situation of Native Speaker English teachers at Czech schools. The theoretical part focuses on the roles, autonomy and responsibilities of teachers and compares the authority of Native Speakers to the authority of Czech teachers. Further, it defines the term English Native speaker, follows the factors which influence the differences between Native Speakers and Czech teachers, deals with the qualification of and job openings for Native speakers in the Czech Republic, and outlines the problems of cultural shock and bridging of cultural differences in lessons. On the practical part, it tries to enquire the opinions of school directors about the existing problems. It intends to chart the attitudes of Native speakers towards Czech learners, the degree of qualification, reasons for coming to and leaving the Czech Republic, fields of action at Czech schools and the rate of satisfaction with the current situation in the Czech Republic.

Metamorphoses of \kur{Borrelia burgdorferi} sensu lato spirochetes: from dormant to motile forms

The aim of the study was to obtain and elaborate information focused on metamorphoses of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) spirochetes. The research included detection of various stress conditions for production of dormant forms of Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. spirochetes in vitro. Subsequently, metamorphoses from dormant to motile stages was observed under favourable conditions. Proper PCR method for primers aimed to detect dormant forms of Borrelia was delevoped. The infectious potential of dormant spirochetes of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto (s.s.) complex was observed in vivo. Transformations of spirochetes have also been observed in real time and individual stages have been recorded. Rozbor vybraných britských antikoloniálních literárních děl

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rozborem vybrané britské antikoloniální literatury s využitím literární teorie Edwarda W. Saida, uznávaného britského literárního teoretika. Představí Saidovu teorii kolonialismu v různých typech umění, i jeho vysvětlení pojmu ,,říše", jako základní tvrzení. Tyto teoretické koncepty aplikuji a rozebírám v návaznosti na jednotlivá literární díla, která zahrnují novelu deníkovou formou Journal of a West India Proprietor od Matthewa Gregoryho Lewise, bajku "How the Camel Got His Humph" z Just So Stories ("Jak velbloud k hrbu přišel" ze sbírky Bajky Nebajky) a básně "The White Man´s Burden" ("Břímě Bělochů") a "Gunga Din" z básnické sbírky Gunga Din and Other Favourite Poems od Rudyarda Kiplinga.Dále román A Passage to India (Cesta do Indie) od E.M. Forstera, dvě novely Lord Jim a Heart of Darkness (Srdce temnoty) a povídku ,,An Outpost of Progress" od Josepha Conrada, a krátkou povídku ,,The Force of Circumstance" od Somerseta Maughama. Hlavními jevy, které práce rozebírá jsou rasismus Britů vůči původnímu obyvatelstvu v koloniích, kulturní rozdíly a vzájemné neporozumění, britská nadřazenost vůči obyvatelům kolonií (často se pojí s určitým stupněm naivity Evropanů). Rozborem těchto jevů se budu snažit poukázat na umělecké a autorské záměry jednotlivých spisovatelů, skrze něž poukazují na určitý závažný společenský problém. Své argumenty podpořím a rozvinu aplikací Saidovy literární teorie. This diploma thesis deals with analysing selected British anti-colonial fiction applying the theory of the renowned British literary critic Edward W. Said. It introduces Said´s theory of the motif of colonialism in different types of art work as the basic statement, as well as Said´s concept of ´the empire´, and these concepts will later on be applied onto individual literary works. They include the novella in a journal form Journal of a West India Proprietor by Matthew Gregory Lewis, a fable "How the Camel Got His Humph" from Just So Stories, and a poem "Gunga Din" from the collection Gunga Din and other Favorite Poems by Rudyard Kipling. My analysis will also include the novel A Passage to India by E.M. Forster, two novellas Lord Jim and Heart of Darkness and a short story "An Outpost of Progress" by Joseph Conrad, and a short story called "The Force of Circumstance" by Somerset Maugham. The main phenomena that will be analysed in this thesis are British racism towards the native people, cultural differences and misunderstandings, British superiority (very often also linked to certain naivety) over the native people. Analysing all these factors, I will strive to emphasize the authors´ artistic intentions and efforts to point them out as serious social problems. Applying the theory of Edward Said, I will support and develop my arguments.

Lexical analysis of names of Czech dishes and their translation into English

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou překladů názvů typicky českých jídel do angličtiny. Pojmy jako koncept, překlad a lexikální vztahy jsou studovány jak z hlediska teorie, tak v praktické části aplikovány. Východiskem práce byly reálné jídelní lístky z českých restaurací. Z práce vyplývá, že při překladu neznámých konceptů z jedoho jazyka do druhého je důležitá volba mezi ekonomičností překladu a jeho transparentností. Vždy by měl být volen překlad, který je transparentní. The aim of the thesis was lexical analysis of names of Czech dishes and their translation into English. The notions such as concept, translation or lexical relations were studied and in the analytical part applied. For this purpose Czech menus were collected. The thesis proves, that while translating unknown concept from source language into target language, there are two things that appear to be crucial, economy of the translation and its transparency. The transparency should always play the main role.

The aim of this thesis was to elucidate the establishment of sister broods in the spruce bark beetle, Ips typographus (L.), at three localities of different elevation in Sumava Mountains. Fecundity, sex ratio in the offspring, regeneration feeding, development of reproductive organs, re-emergence rate and other ecophysiological topics were studied as well. The aim of this thesis was to elucidate the establishment of sister broods in the spruce bark beetle, Ips typographus (L.), at three localities of different elevation in Sumava Mountains. Fecundity, sex ratio in the offspring, regeneration feeding, development of reproductive organs, re-emergence rate and other ecophysiological topics were studied as well.

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na nebezpečná slova v běžné angličtině. Mezi taková slova patří široká škála výrazů pocházejících jak z neformálního jazyka, hovorového jazyka, slangu, žargonu, eufemismů, dvojznačných slov, tak i z dysfemizmů, vulgarismů a tabu slov. Teoretická část se zabývá definicí jednotlivých kategorií na této škále. Historický pohled na klení je zkoumán a porovnán se soudobými názory. V této části je také podán návrh na to, jak zacházet s klením ve vyučování. Praktická část se zaměřuje na prozkoumání psaných a mluvených vzorků z různých pohledů, na příklad z hlediska frekvence výskytu. Korpus psaných vzorků byl sesbírán z knih doporučené literatury a jedné knihy dle autorčiny volby; mluvené vzorky pocházejí ze seriálů a jednoho filmu - vše volně dostupné veřejnosti. This diploma thesis is focused on dangerous words in everyday English. Among such words belong a wide range of expressions from informal, colloquial language, slang, jargon, euphemism, double-meaning words as well as dysphemisms, vulgarisms and taboo words. In the theoretical part, it is dealt with the definition of the individual categories on this scale. A historical perspective on swearing is examined and contrasted with the contemporary attitudes. A suggestion of how to treat swearing in education is given in this part, too. The practical part focuses on examining written and spoken excerpts from various points of view, i.e. from the perspective of frequency of the occurrence. The corpora of the written samples were collected from books of literature recommended for high schools, and one book of author's choice; the spoken samples come from TV series, and one movie - all of them freely available to the public.

The thesis deals with module extension in currently developing project called Time Project 5. Specifically, the Phases, Notification and External Interface module. The thesis is divided into four major chapters. The first chapter introduces theoretical background consisting of backend and frontend technology description. The second chapter serves as determination of customer's expectations in form of functional and nonfunctional requirements gathering. The major focus of the third chapter is on application architecture design of both server and client side together with subcomponents design. Additionally, this chapter is complemented by the data model and Time Project 5 application design. The last, and at the same time, major chapter reveals the actual implementation of mentioned subcomponents including further necessary support features.

Atrazine photochemical degradation in homogeneous phase using Fe(III)/UV/air system was studied. Two toxicity assessments, a Lemna minor growth inhibition test and a Daphnia magna acute immobilisation test, were employed to test potential toxicity of atrazine and its degradation products. The occurrence of atrazine in rivers from the Vltava River basin was evaluated from the analyses performed by Povodí Vltavy, State Enterprise.
