UNICELLULAR ALGA CHLORELLA AS A FEED SUPPLEMENT, CURRENT EXPERIENCE AND FUTURE PERSPECTIVES
Kotrbáček, V.; Doucha, Jiří; Kuchařová, V.; Doubek, J.
2017 - English
We studied the effect of Chlorella biomass as a feed supplement. In laying hens we found that diet supplemented with 1 % (i.e. 10 g/kg) of dry disintegrated heterotrophically grown Chlorella biomass significantly increased content of carotenoids in egg yolks of 8 experimental animals already after the first week of supplementation (P<0,01). Compared to 8 control hens these differences remained significantly higher until the end of the eight-week experiment. The average carotenoid concentration was 17,3 mu g per g of yolk in control group and 25,3 mu g per g of yolk in experimental animals (P<0,01). Autotrophically grown Chlorella was supplemented to the 30 gilts one month prior the expected first heat in a dose of 1,5 g per animal per day. These sows entered heat earlier and the number of pregnancy was higher in comparison to the 30 control animals. Other studies observed digestibility of selenium organically bound in Se-enriched Chlorella. The level of selenium in blood, colostrum and also tissues of new born piglets was determined. Group of 8 sows was supplemented with Se-enriched alga during the pregnancy and 3 days after parturition at a dose of 0,3 mg of selenium per 1 kg of feed. The same amount of selenium in the form of sodium selenite was administrated to the control group of 8 individuals. Organic form of selenium significantly increased concentration of Se in blood of sows and colostrum (P<0,05). Piglets born to supplemented sows had also significantly higher level of Se in heart, muscles and liver (P<0.01). The use of fresh Chlorella biomass produced outdoors on a dairy farm was experimentally tested. The liquid fresh biomass applied to dairy cows during the pregnancy at a dose of 15 g dry mass per cow increased the dry matter content in colostrum from 17,5 g per 100 ml of colostrum in control group to 20,5 g per 100 ml of colostrum in supplemented cows (P<0,05). Do Invasive Alien Species Affect Diversity of Local Communities?
Kindlmann, Pavel; Honěk, A.; Martinková, Z.
2017 - English
Here we present results of simulation models to investigate the diversity dynamics in a theoretical system consisting of an "original" community of native species and an invasive alien species that invades this community, thus creating a "new" community. See Kindlmann et al. (2017) for full details of the simulations and results. Keywords: invasive species; local diversity Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Metody hodnocení potenciální zranitelnosti podzemních vod reaktivním dusíkem při pěstování polních plodin na orné půdě
Zemek, František; Pikl, Miroslav; Holub, Petr; Klem, Karel; Záhora, J.; Vavříková, J.
2017 - Czech
Metodika identifikace potenciálního průsaku reaktivního dusíku do podzemních zdrojů vod je založena na hodnocení kombinace konzervativních, těžko měnitelných a časově stabilních faktorů povodí a těch faktorů, které může člověk svým působením v krajině ovlivňovat. K ním patří způsoby a intenzita pěstování polních plodin na orné půdě povodí. Parametry druhé skupiny jsou získávány na základě metod obrazové spektroskoie leteckých hyperspektrálních a satelitních multispektrálních dat Sentinel-2. The methodology demonstrates on the case study of a catchment (cca 200 km2 in size) how to identify the areas with high risk of nitrogen (N) leaching to underground water in arable land. It uses synergy between “conservative” characteristics of the catchment, such as orographic features, bedrock and soil hydrological properties, and the dynamic ones, which are represented by vegetation properties. The latter are identified through the imaging spectroscopy of wheat canopy obtained from airborne hyperspectral and/or Sentinel-2 multispectral data. Keywords: nitrogen leaching; underground water; remote sensing Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Determination of the Rate of Tetraethylammoniumion Transfer across the\nWater/1,2-DCE Interface with Steady-State Voltammetry at a Nano-ITIES
Silver, Barry Richard; Holub, Karel; Mareček, Vladimír
2017 - English
The rate of TEA+ ion transfer across the water/1,2-dichloroethane interface has been\nmeasured using steady-state cyclic voltammetry at a capillary with an orifice of nano-sized\ndimension. It was found that the average rate constant for TEA+ transfer from water to oil and\nfrom oil to water is 0.64 cm/s. The results are repeatable using the same capillary. This value\nis similar to that measured previously using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and\nfluctuation analysis at the micro-interface. Charge Transport through Molecular Towers Based on Tetraphenylmethane Tripods
Kolivoška, Viliam; Šebera, Jakub; Lindner, M.; Valášek, M.; Mayor, M.; Mészáros, G.; Gasior, Jindřich; Hromadová, Magdaléna
2017 - English
Molecular platforms with multiple anchors were introduced recently to provide robust\ncoupling between molecular electronic components and metallic electrodes. In this work,\ncharge transport in tower-shaped single molecule conductors based on tetraphenylmethane\ntripod possessing three thiol anchors is investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy break\njunction technique. The effect of tripod substitution pattern and number of repeating units in\nmolecule is addressed. The substitution was found to influence conductance value in early\nstages of molecular junction evolution, where tower lays parallel to surface. In late stages, the\ncharge is transported through principal molecular axis and junction breaks thermally in tilted\nconfiguration.
