Diffusion properties of the brain in health and disease
Syková, Eva
2003 - English
Diffusion parameters affect neurone-glia communication, ionic homeostasis, the movement and accumulation of neuroactive substances and, therefore, play an important role in synaptic as well as volume transmission. Keywords: Diffusion properties; brain Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Implantation of bone marrow stromal cells labeled with superparamagnetic nanoparticles into injured brain and imaging their fate by magnetic resonance
Jendelová, Pavla; Herynek, V.; Růžičková, Kateřina; Hájek, M.; Syková, Eva
2003 - English
Our study demonstrates that MSCs only migrate into an injured brain region. The commercially available contrast agent Endorem can be used as a cell marker for noninvasive MR tracking of implanted stem cells. Keywords: bone marrow stromal cells; nanoparticles Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Changes in intrinsic optical signals and extracellular space diffusion parameters. Do they have a common mechanism?
Chvátal, Alexandr; Vargová, Lýdia; Kubinová, Šárka; Syková, Eva
2003 - English
We can therefore conclude that light transmittance changes do not simply correlate with changes in ECS volume, but they are clearly associated with neuronal activity accompanied by various biochemical, biophysical and morphological changes. Keywords: Intrinsic optical signals; extracellular space; common mechanism Available at various institutes of the ASCR

MR tracking of transplanted stem cells labeled by iron-oxide nanoparticles
Syková, Eva; Jendelová, Pavla
2003 - English
Our study demonstrates that grafted MSC and ESC migrate into an injured brain region. The commercially available contrast agent Endorem, based on iron-oxide nanoparticles, can be used a marker for long-term noninvasive MR tracking of implanted stem cells. Nucleoli of naked megakaryocytic nuclei
Janoutová, J.; Likovský, Zbyněk
2001 - English
The differentiation and maturation of megakaryocytes is characterized by endomitotic divisions which result in the formation of large polyploid cells the cytoplasm of which is segregated as thrombocytes. The present study was undertaken to provide more information on the incidence of nucleoli in naked magakaryocytic nuclei representing terminal stages of the megakaryocytic development after the loss of the cytoplasm transformed to thrombocytes. Keywords: nucleoli; megakaryocytes Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Morphology and distribution of nadph-diaphorase-positive neurons in the auditory cortex of the rat
Nwabueze-Ogbo, Fidel Chijoke; Druga, R.; Syka, Josef
2001 - English
Our results indicate the preferred localization of the NADPH-d/NOS positive neurons in the infragranular layers, which are sources of the majority of corticofugal neurons projecting to the subcortical structures. Keywords: nadph-diaphorase-positive Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Transport of ribosomal RNA within the nucleolus
Staněk, David; Koberna, Karel; Pliss, Artem; Čtrnáctá, Vlasta; Malínský, Jan; Mašata, Martin; Večeřová, Jaromíra; Raška, Ivan
2000 - English
In the present study, we have explored the fact that incorporation of BrU into prerRNA did not interfere with pre-rRNA processing (11) and we have investigated the transport of non - isotopically labeled RNA within the nucleolus by means of transmissiion electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy.Within 20 minutes, BrU - labeled nucleolar RNA moved from the transcription sites in nucleolar DFC to GC. Double localization of bromouridine labeled RNA and fibrillarin revealed that only a ppart of the fibrillarin rich domains were transcriptionally active. Available at various institutes of the ASCR
