Wheat B-starch based polymeric materials
Kotek, Jiří; Kruliš, Zdeněk; Šárka, E.
2011 - English
The contribution is aimed at preparation of a thermoplastic material derived from the wheat B-starch. Two ways have been followed, namely blending of the starch with poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and plasticizing of the starch. In both cases, properties of the materials based on the B-starch are comparable to analogous materials based on the A-starch. The prepared materials have potential application as biodegradable films for agriculture. Keywords: biodegradable plastic; polycaprolactone; B-starch Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Hybrid structures based on montmorillonite/modified starch intercalate
Duchek, P.; Špírková, Milena
2010 - English
Intercalates based on several commercial cationized starches with degree of substitution D=0.04-0.17, and sodium montmorillonite were prepared. The XRD analyses of resulting organic/inorganic hybrids proved that modification in the starch structure leads to embedding the polycation into montmorillonite clay gallery. Lower degree of starch cationization results in bigger enlargement of the interlayer space in the hybrid structure. Keywords: organic/inorganic hybrides; montmorillonite Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Novel nanocomposite materials for power engineering
Boček, J.; Matějka, Libor; Mentlík, V.
2010 - English
The epoxy-POSS nanocomposites were prepared and their electrical/dielectric and thermomechanical properties were determined. The mono- and octa-epoxyfunctionalized POSS (POSS,E1 and POSS,E8) were covalently incorporated in the epoxy network matrix DGEBA- 3,3’-dimethyl-4,4’-diaminocyclohexylmethane (Laromin C260) as pendant units or as polyhedral junctions, respectively. While the POSS junctions are well dispersed in the hybrid network DGEBA-Laromin-POSS,E8, the pendant POSS aggregate to form large crystalline POSS domains. Keywords: nanocomposite; epoxy resin; insulating system Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Cation and anion exchangers from nanofibrous polystyrene for fast water treatment
Marek, J.; Beneš, Milan J.; Jelínek, L.
2009 - English
Strongly acidic sulfonovaný cation exchanger on polystyrene nanofibrous matrix (Nanospider TM technology) was prepared by simultaneous sulfonation and crosslinking. Weakly basic nanofibrous anion exchanger was prepared after transformation of sulfogroups to sulfochloride by reaction with ethylene diamine. Nanofibrous products were characterized by sorption capacity. They have sorption kinetic significantly faster in comparison with standard granular ion exchangers. Keywords: polystyrene; nanofiber; ion exchanger Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Metal organophosphonates and their intercalation compounds as inorganic-organic hydrid materials and nanomaterials
Zima, Vítězslav; Svoboda, Jan; Melánová, Klára; Beneš, L.
2008 - English
We prepared several new phenylphosphonates and 4-carboxyphenylphosphonates of alkaline earth metals and copper and characterized them by powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy. For four of these compounds, their structure was determined from their powder X-ray diffraction patterns using an ab initio FOX program. The prepared alkaline-earth phenylphosphonates with general formula MeC6H5PO3yH2O (Me = Ca, Sr, Ba) were found to be suitable hosts for intercalation reactions. Připravili jsme několik nových fenylfosfonátů a 4-karboxyfenylfosfonátů kovů alkalických zemin a mědi a charakterizovali je pomocí práškové rentgenové difrakce, termogravimetrické analýzy, EDX, elem. analýzy a infračervené spektroskopie. Byla určena struktura čtyřech těchto sloučenin pomocí ab initio programu FOX z práškových rtg. dat. Připravené fenylfosfonáty alkalických kovů se ukázaly být vhodnými hostitelskými materiály pro interkalační reakce. Keywords: intercalation Available at various institutes of the ASCR
