Bayes Estimation of Queue Length

The paper deals with an application of Bayes for estimation of the queue length in junction arm. In Bayesian view the concept of probability is not interpreted in terms of limits of relative frequencies but more generally as a subjective measure of belief of a rationally and consistently reasoning person which is used to describe quantitatively the uncertain relationship between the statistician and the external world. This model splits controlled networks into microregions. The queue length and the occupancy of each junction approach are the basic state quantities for fully expressed traffic situation at given time instant. The occupancy determines relative time of the detector activation during sample period, i.e. the proportion of time when detector has been occupied and total time of measuring period. The optimization criterion for this attitude is minimization of the queue length. For clearness, the model is derived for simple junction. Příspěvek se zabývá aplikací Bayesovského přístupu na odhadování délek kolon na jednotlivých ramenech křižovatek.

This paper describes our solution for a hardware co-simulation of algorithms in programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) with a communication server out of Matlab. The implemented HW co-simulation with communication server has got many advantages and it allows uniform communication with dierent platforms via various communication interfaces (RS232, Ethernet, USB, etc.). Necessary and sufficient optimality conditions in multichain semi-Markov decision processes

In this note, we consider semi-Markov decision processes with finite state and general multichain structure. We formulate necessary and sufficient optimality condition for average reward optimality criteria as well as condition for equivalence of these optimality criteria. V práci se vyšetřují semi-Markovské rozhodovancí procesy s konečným stavovým prostorem a větším počtem tříd rekurentních stavů. Jsou formulované nutné a postačující podmínky optimality pro různá kriteria průměrného výnosu, jakož i podmínky pro ekvivalenci těchto kritérií.

Approximations of stochastic and robust optimization programs

The paper deals with two wide areas of optimization theory: stochastic and robust programming. We specialize to different approaches when solving an optimization problem where some uncertainties in constraints occur. To overcome uncertainty, we can request the solution to be feasible to all but a small part of constraints. Both approaches gives us different methods to deal with this requirement. We try to find fundamental differencies between them and illustrate the differencies on a simple numerical example. Článek se zabývá dvěma rozsáhlými oblastmi teorie optimalizace: stochastickým a robustním programováním. Specializuje se na dva různé přístupy v případě řešení optimalizačních úloh, ve kterých se vyskytuje náhodný prvek v omezeních. Jako způsob obejití tohoto problému je možné hledat řešení, které je přípustné pro téměř všechna omezení až na malou část. Oba přístupy nabízí odlišné metody zabývající se tímto požadavkem. Ve článku se snažíme nalézt základní rozdíly mezi oběma přístupy a ilustrovat tyto rozdíly na jednoduchém numerickém příkladě.

On Robustness of Median Estimator in Bernoulli Logistic Regession

In the paper the median estimator of the logistic regression parameters employing smoothed data in the discrete case is considered. Sensitivity of this estimator to contaminations of the logistic regression data is studied by simulations and compared with the sensitivity of some robust estimators previously introduced to logistic regression. V práci je uvažován mediánový odhad parametrů logistické regrese využívající v diskrétním případě „zespojitěných“ dat. Pomocí simulací je studována citlivost zmíněného odhadu na kontaminaci dat logistické regrese a porovnána s citlivostí některých robustních odhadů dříve definovaných pro logistickou regresi.

Adaptive LQ controllers can exhibit uncorrect behaviour at the beginning of the adaptation process. Paper presents an approach which can overcome the problem. It is proposed to operate LQ adaptive controller jointly with some fixed robust controller, typically a PID one. Using single tuning knob, it is possible to tune adaptuve controller properties from that of PID to a standard LQ controller ones. Adaptivní LQ regulátor může vykazovat nevhodné chování na začátku adaptačního procesu. pro odstranění tohoto nedostatku se navrhuje současné řízení pomocí jedoduchého robustního regulátoru, obvykle PID. Jedním ladicím knoflíkem je pak možno plynule měnit vlastnosti adaptivního regulátoru z chování jako PID po standardní vlastnosti LQ regulátoru

Factorized Kalman Filtering

The present work considers the problem of the factorized filtering with Gaussian models and offers the solution, based on applying the L'DL decomposition of the covariance matrix. The results of such filtering is the posterior state estimate with the mean value and the factorized matrix of covariance. Článek se zabývá problémem faktorizované filtrace s Gaussovskymi modely a nabízí řešení, založené na L'DL rozložení kovarianční matice. Výsledkem této filtrace je stavový odhad se středními hodnotami a faktorizovanou kovarianční maticí.

Design and verification methodology for reconfigurable designs in Atmel FPSLIC

This paper describes a methodology and design flow for designs with dynamic reconfiguration in the DSP and control domain. The described design flow starts with a description an Matlab/Simulink that is converted to Handel-C and then compiled through VHDL to EDIF, and finally to FPGA configuration. The methodology and design flow are demonstrated on implementation examples with simple floating-point IP cores targetting the Atmel AT94K FPSLIC device. Částečná dynamická rekonfigurace umožňuje zvyšovat funkční hustotu návrhu, což ale vede ke složitějším metodám návrhu. Tento článek popisuje metodologii a návrhový postup pro rekonfigurovatelná zapojení z oblasti zpracování signálů a řídící techniky. Popisovaný postup začíná popisem v prostředí Matlab/Simulink, který je převeden do Handel-C a pak přeložen do VHDL a EDIFu a konfigurační informace pro FPGA obvody. Postup je předveden na příkladech.
