Measurement of electrical and mechanical oscillations of yeast cells membrane in acoustic frequency range

The paper describes the measurement of electric activity of yeast cells at frequencies around 1 kHz and of mechanical vibrations of cell membrane. Synchronized and non-synchronized tubulin mutants of yeast cells were measured. The paper includes a description of the laboratory equipment with a platinum wire point sensor and a spectrum analyzer. Growth of InP crystals for radiation detectors and other application

Bulk InP single crystals were grown by Czochralski method. Various dopants were added to the melt to obtain single crystals suitable for radiation detectors and other application. The intentionally doped of InP crystals were characterized by measurements of resistivity and Hall coefficient. Application of speech recognition and rhyme tests for assessement of Czech speech processing systems

Speech intelligibility is the most important parameter of speech quality. In the contribution a new objective intelligibility assessment of speech processing algorithms, e.g., speech coding, synthesis, enhancement, conversion, is proposed. It is based on automatic speech recognition of rhyme tests. The idea is illustrated by comparison with listening evaluation of Czech rhyme tests and is applied for intelligibility assessment of Czech text-to-speech system and voice conversion. Srozumitelnost řeči je nejdůležitější ukazatel kvality řeči. V příspěvku je popsán návrh nového objektivního hodnocení srozumitelnosti algoritmů pro zpracování řeči, např. kódování, syntézy, zvýrazňování a konverse řeči. Je založen na automatickém rozpoznávání rýmových testů. Myšlenka je ilustrována porovnáním s poslechovým hodnocením českých rýmových testů a je použita na hodnocení srozumitelnosti českého systému pro převod textu na řeč a pro konversi hlasu. This paper presents results from the measurement of the electrical activity cold sensitive beta-tubulin mutant tub2-401 of yeast cells in frequency region 0.4 - 1.6 kHz. 25 measurements of both synchronized and nonsynchronized cells show that the synchronized cells have higher electrical activity what corresponds to the findings of Pohl et al. Mechanical oscillations of electrically polar structures in cell may give rise to electric oscillations we measured. Estimation of energy transfer parameters in thulium- and ytterbium-doped silica fibers

We present an estimation of the energy transfer coefficients by comparison of the measured emission of three TYDF samples with numerical simulations of the respective emission. The energy transfer coefficients were found higher than those reported in Tm/Yb-doped fluoride based crystals. With possible improvement of excited level lifetime of thulium by high alumina codoping, it makes Tm/Yb co-doped silica fibers promising for applications in fiber lasers and amplifiers. Dynamics of spontaneous photon emission from human body in 24 hour period

Spontaneous ultra-weak photon emission in the visible range was measured on palm and dorsal side of left and right hand by means of a low noise photomultiplier system. To study the dynamics of this photon emission in a 24h period photon emission was recorded in 2h intervals in 5 experiments. Mean photon emission over the 24h period differed both between subjects and hand locations. The fluctuations in photon emission in the course of 24h were more at dorsal sides than palm sides. Spontánní utra-slabá emise fotonu ve viditelné oblasti byla změřena na dlani a dorzální straně levé a pravé ruky pomocí nízko šumového fotonásobiče. K studiu dynamiky této emise fotonu v pruběhu 24 hodin, emise fotonu byla měřena v intervalech 2 hodin v 5 experimentech. Průměrná intenzita emise fotonu v rozsahu 24 hodin se lišila jak mezi subjekty, tak i mezi měřenými lokacemi. Fluktuace inetzity emise fotonu v průběhu 24 hod. byly vyšší na dorzálních stranách rukou než na dlaních. Keywords: bioluminescence; photons; skin Available at various institutes of the ASCR

This paper deals with the improving of the synthetic prosody modeling especially with the improving of the intonation modeling. A mathematical model of the pitch contour modeling can significantly limit the complexity of intonation rules creation and increase the naturalness of resulting synthetic speech. The linear prediction intonation model implemented in TTS system Epos uses excitation by rules and provides in conjunction with a triphone time domain inventories more naturalness synthetic speech. Tento příspěvek se zabývá zlepšením modelování prozodie syntetické řeči pomocí zdokonaleného modelování průběhu základního tónu. Použití matematického modelu průběhu základního tónu může významně zjednodušit pravidla generování průběhu základního tónu a zvýšit přirozenost výsledné syntetické řeči. Lineárně predikční intonační model zabudovaný v TTS systému Epos používá buzení pomocí pravidel a společně s kvalitním trifonovým inventářem nabízí syntetickou řeč s vyšší přirozeností. Storytelling voice conversion for TTS system with cepstral description

Our recent research in improvement of text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis was aimed at storytelling speaking style in addition to its multi-voice realization and expression of emotional states. Storytelling speaking style is suitable for applications aimed at children as well as applications aimed at blind people. In this contribution the experiments with the storytelling voice conversion performed on the short sentences of stories in Slovak and Czech are described. Náš poslední výzkum ke zlepšení kvality syntézy řeči byl zaměřen na implementaci pohádkových řečových stylů sloužících k vyjádření emočních stavů v rámci vícehlasé realizace TTS systému. Pohádkové řečové styly jsou užitečné v hlasových aplikací určených pro děti a také pro nevidomé. V tomto článku jsou popsány experimenty s konverzí pohádkových hlasů prováděné na krátkých promluvách z pohádek v slovenštině a češtině.
