Příspěvek se zabývá optickými mikroresonátory, jejich přípravou, vlastnostmi a využitím v telekomunikacích a zejména v senzorech. Jsou uvedeny výsledky získané s přípravou a charakterizací kulových křemenných mikroresonátorů na pracovištích autorů. The paper deals with optical microresonators, their preparation, characteristics and application to telecommunication and sensor purposes. Results in the preparation and characterization of spherical silica resonators achieved by the authors are presented.

The role of small and medium CATV operators in providing e-services in the Czech Republic

As the demand for broadband e-services is increasing, there is a good chance for the cable TV operators to successfully compete with the traditional telecommunication operators in providing the services taking advantage of their broadband infrastructure. The paper reviews the Czech telecommunications arena focusing on the role of CATV operators and service providers in general and of the small and medium ones in particular.

New approach to speech analysis and synthesis using the complex cepstral coefficients was implemented in a form of a vocoder based on complex cepstral coefficients. To test the results of this new vocoder a comparison with results of an existing vocoder based on real cepstral coefficients were done. This paper describes the structure of both vocoders and the results of performed tests.

Layers of nanoparticles in micelle enclosures were deposited on InP substrates by electrophoresis from isooctane colloid solutions containing Pd or Ag nanoparticles. The layers were investigated by SIMS, low-temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy and topography, absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and sensitivity to hydrogen. Photoluminescence of InP was enhanced by the layers of Pd or Ag nanoparticles. Schottky barriers made on the n-type InP with layers containing Pd nanoparticles showed significant sensitivity to hydrogen in contrast to those containing Ag nanoparticles.

We report on the influence of rare earth (RE) elements (Pr, Er, and Dy) addition during vertical Bridgman low pressure synthesis on the properties of InP crystals. The temperature dependent Hall measurement and low temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were employed to study the changes in electrical and optical properties of the crystals. The observed changes are attributed to the gettering effect of REs caused by the high affinity of REs towards shallow impurities in InP.

We focus on the characterization of InP and InGaAsP layers prepared by liquid phase epitaxy with rare-earth admixtures. We applied photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), capacitance-voltage measurements, and secondary ion mass spectroscopy in order to explain: (i) the gettering effect and conductivity crossover of InP layers for Pr treated samples, (ii) narrowing of the PL and elecroluminescent spectra of the active InGaAsP region of a double-heterostructure LED.

The paper describes the measurement of electric activity of yeast cells at frequencies around 1 kHz and of mechanical vibrations of cell membrane. Synchronized and non-synchronized tubulin mutants of yeast cells were measured. The paper includes a description of the laboratory equipment with a platinum wire point sensor and a spectrum analyzer. Obtained results are in good agreement with AFM findings.
