Optimization of the outflow regime in Římov reservoir from the point of view of water supply
Mercado, Ma. Cristina Paule; Hejzlar, Josef; Jarošík, Jiří; Porcal, Petr
2023 - English
The best management strategy for the Římov reservoir: (a) discharge from a depth of 3–5 m during the stratified season, (b) without support for SHP and with high reservoir filling, (c) reducing the phosphorus loading of the reservoir as much as possible. The impacts of climate change on water quality are significant, as inflow DOC and P concentrations here increase with temperature and flow variability. The effects of climate change can be mitigated by targeted management of the reservoir, but the quality of water inflow will still deteriorate further.

Hydroacoustic assessment of the fish stock in Lake Balaton in 2017
Tušer, Michal; Muška, Milan
2018 - English
This report describes a study of open-water fish assemblage in Lake Balaton, Hungary, in 2017. The lake was acoustically surveyed using two horizontally-oriented 120 kHz transducers. The observed fish stock was assessed on the basis of fish sizes, abundance, biomass, and spatial distribution in the lake.

Fish stock assessment of the Petrusplaat Reservoir in 2016, Fish stock assessment of the Honderd en Dertig Reservoir in 2016, Fish stock assessment of the De Gijster Reservoir in 2016
Jůza, Tomáš; Soukalová, Kateřina; Kočvara, Luboš; Prachař, Zdeněk
2017 - English
In 2016, the aim of the complex ichthyological surveys of Petrusplaat, Honderd en Dertig and De Gijster reservoirs was the description of fish community composition and succession with the emphasis put on the abundance and biomass estimates. All important littoral/benthic and pelagic habitats were sampled using the well-established methods (benthic and pelagic gillnets, shore seining and pelagic fry and ichthyoplankton trawling, benthic traps) aiming particularly on the improvement of abundance estimates of gobiid fry.

The anti-oxidative stress response in Drosophila malanogaster involvement of adipokinetic hormone and adenosine
Zemanová, Milada; Kodrík, Dalibor
2016 - English
The anti-oxidative stress response was studied in Drosophila melanogaster larvae and adults with mutation in genes of adipokinetic hormone (Akh), and adenosine receptor (AdoR(1)), and both these genes together (Akh(1) AdoR1 double mutant). To elicit the oxidative stress we administered paraquat (PQ) in food. Mortality tests revealed the double mutant Akh(1) AdoR(1) was more sensitive to PQ toxicity than either of the single mutants. The PQ administration significantly increased the Drome-AKH hormone level in control w(1118) and AdoR(1) larvae. On the contrary, PQ significantly increased expression of glutathione S-transferase D1 (GstD1) gene. It seems that both functional adenosine receptor and AKH itself are important for the proper control of the GstD1 gene expression under oxidative stress. On the other hand, differences in glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity among the strains, and between untreated and PQ treated groups were minimal. Next, the glutathione (GSH) level was significantly lower in all untreated mutant groups as compared with untreated control w1118 flies and declined further when the flies were treated with PQ. Thus, we demonstrated the important role of AKH and adenosine in control of anti-stress response elicited by PQ in D. melanogaster model.
