LPE growth of InP using rare-earth treated melts

Addition of REs to the growth melt is known to have purifying effect on AIIIBV LPE layers. Each member of REs family acts in its own way. Small addition of Tb, Dy, Tm, and Pr leads to pronounced gettering of shallow donors, the high purity n-type InP can be grown. Exceeding certain concentration, reversal of conductivity type from n to p occurs. Addition of Tm during growth on InP:Fe substrates always results in the preparation of semi-insulating layers due to Fe out-diffusion mediated by RE admixture. Je známo, že přidáním prvků vzácných zemin do růstové taveniny lze získat LPE vrstvy sloučenin AIIIBV vysoké čistoty. Každý z těchto prvků však vykazuje jedinečné chování. Nízké přídavky Tb, Dy, Tm a Pr vedou ke getraci mělkých donorů a růstu čistých vrstev vodivosti typu n. Při překročení určité koncentrace dochází ke změně vodivostního typu. Přídavek Tm na InP:Fe substrátech má za následek konverzi epitaxní vrstvy do semiizolačního stavu kvůli difuzi Fe zprostředkované vzácnou zeminou.

Pseudo cepstrogram and its application to speech analysis

Generalized cepstral speech analysis is briefly summarized and applied to the construction of cepstrograms. By means of cepstrograms and pseudo cepstrograms of clean and noise corrupted speech it is shown that pseudo cepstrograms are more robust to background noise. The mel-scale representation of the speech spectrum is further used as a pre-processing step in pseudo cepstrum visualization. This combination of nonlinear approaches proved to be a very effective tool in speech processing. Je stručně popsána zobecněná kepstrální analýza a je použita ke konstrukci kepstrogramů. Na příkladech kepstrogramů a pseudokepstrogramů čisté a šumem znehodnocené řeči je ukázáno, že pseudokepstrogramy jsou odolnější k šumu pozadí. Dále je použita mel stupnice v řečovém spektru jako předzpracování při zobrazení pseudokepstra. Tato kombinace nelineárních přístupů se ukázala jako velmi účinná pro zpracování řeči.

Using festival residual LPC inventories in the EposTTS

Cílem tohoto příspěvku je popsat možnosti implementace nových hlasů do text-to-speech (TTS) systému Epos. Pro implementaci jsme použili inventáře TTS systému Festival. Inventáře obsahují komprimované řečové jednotky v podobě koeficientů Residuálně Lineárního Predikčního Kódování (RLPC) a další nutné informace pro syntézu řeči. Text je předáván systému Epos v MBROLA formátu a je tedy možné přímo určovat délku hlásek i tvar prosodie. The aim of this paper is to describe a possibility of the new voices implementation into the Epos text-to-speech (TTS) system. We implemented voices from the Festival TTS system. This system synthesizes text from speech units, which are stored in an inventory file as Residual Linear Prediction Coding (RLPC) coefficients. The inventory file provides every information needed for the text synthesis. The text is synthesized in the MROLA format, thus a phoneme length (and a prosody) can be determined directly.

Jsou prezentovány experimentální výsledky obousměrného přenosu osmi (2x4) 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) kanálů přes 210 km standardního jednovidového vlákna (G.652 dle ITU specifikace). Byly použity 10 GE vysílače/přijímače opnext DWDM XENPAK, běžné výkonové erbium-dopované zesilovače (EDFA) a nízkošumové EDFA předzesilovače. We present experimental results on bidirectional transmission of (2x4) 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) channels over 210 km of standard single mode fibre (G3652 according to ITU specification). The inscription of LPGs with a period of 0.17 up to 0.98mm with a focused CO.sub.2./sub. laser beam into an experimental non-commercial optical fiber under a variety of conditions is reported. The reproducibility of the LPG’s inscription process and an experiment with multiple inscription of LPGs are presented. V příspěvku je uvedena výroba mřížek s dlouhou periodou za různých podmínek s periodou 0,17 až 0,98mm do experimentálního nekomerčního optického vlákna pomocí CO.sub.2./sub. laserového paprsku. Je uvedena opakovatelnost procesu výroby mřížek s dlouhou periodou a experiment s vícenásobným zápisem.

Skutečnost, že kromě Japonska a Jižní Korey rozjeli své projekty FTTx i největší telekomunikační operátoři v USA, potvrzuje, že již opravdu začala éra nástupu optiky do přístupových sítí. I v Evropě již byla realizována řada projektů, další jsou ve stadiu realizace. Autoři příspěvku v návaznosti na jejich aktivitu v FTTx Forum-czsk a v evropském projektu BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) shromáždili aktualizované údaje o stavu a perspektivách výstavby sítí FTTx v ČR a ve světě. The fact that, apart from Japan and South Korea, also the biggest US operators have launched their FTTx projects, proves that the era of deploying optical fibres in the access networks has started in earnest. The authors of the paper, as part of their activities in the framework of the European IST project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) have gathered up-to-date information on the status and prospects of development of FTTx networks in the Czech Republic and in the world.

Experiments with speeking styles transposition using linear time scale mapping of FO contour

In this paper the experiments with the speaking styles transposition performed on the speech utterances produced by the TTS system with basic prosody are desribed. Speaking styles prototypes derived from five emotional states were obtained on the sentences with the same information content. The problem with different frame lenght between the prototype and the target utterance was solved by linear time scale mapping. The results were evluated by the listening tests of the resynthetised utterances. V anotaci článku jsou popsány experimenty se vzájemnou záměnou řečových stylů prováděné na promluvách generovaných TTS systémem se základní prozodií. Prototypy řečových stylů odvozené z pěti emocionálnách stavů byly získány z promluv se shodným informačním obsahem. Problém s rozdílnou délkou prototypu a cílové věty byl řešen s použitím lineárního mapování v časové oblasti. Výsledky byly hodnoceny pomocí poslechových testů promluv po provedené resyntéze.

Modification of the Ag.sup.+./sup./Na.sup.+./sup. exchange conditions was done in order to decrease optical losses and to modify n(x) profile of the waveguides. This was achieved using reaction melt with decreased Ag.sup.+./sup. content and consequent annealing of the samples. Byla provedena úprava podmínek iontové výměny Ag.sup.+./sup./Na.sup.+./sup. za účelem snížení optických ztrát a úpravy n(x) profilu vytvořených vlnovodů. Pozitivní výsledky byly dosaženy při použití taveniny s nízkým obsahem Ag.sup.+./sup. iontů a následném vyžíhání vzorků.

Vliv vrstev nitridu křemíku na difuzní délku minoritních nosičů v Si

Hlavním cílem práce bylo porovnání nitridu křemíku připraveného metodami LP CVD a MW PE CVD ze silanu a čpavku s ohledem na možnost pasivace c-Si povrchových vrstev. Vlastnosti vrstev nitridu křemíku byly studovány metodami SPV, FTIR a SIMS. Průměrná hodnota difuzní délky minoritních nosičů v Si vzorcích s LP CVD nitridem byla kratší a závisela na místě v reaktoru. The main purpose of this work was the comparison of the silicon nitride prepared by the LP CVD and by the MW PE CVD from silane and ammonia gases with respect to the possibility of passivation c-Si surface layer. The properties of the silicon nitride films were studied by the surface photovoltage (SPV), FTIR and SIMS methods. The average value of the diffusion length of minority carriers in the Si samples with the LP CVD nitride was shorter and dependent on the location in the reactor.
