Computed tomography system with strict real-time synchronization for in-situ 3D analysis of periodically vibrating objects

In the contribution, we present a laboratory system capable of X-ray computed tomography (XCT) scanning of an periodically moving or oscillating object. The system is an in-house developed XCT setup with electromagnetic voice coil actuator mounted on top of the rotary stage of the setup. The strict synchronization of the components, the rotary stage, the electromagnetic actuator movement and the detector readout is accomplished with use of the detector hardware trigger and hard real-time Linux operating system. Cylindrical sample manufactured from epoxy resin with metal particles to enable movement tracking is scanned in a stationary position and during periodical movement induced by the vibration stage. The volumetric data of the scans is compared and the results of this contribution represent an important step towards identification of defects through modal analysis of in-situ harmonically vibrating object.

Autoři eseje se pokusili na základě ego-dokumentů odhalit hranice rozporu mezi očekávaným standardem intenzity a délky trvání prusko-rakouského konfliktu a následnou realitou. Jeden z modernizačních procesů 19. století se zkondenzoval v krátkém a intenzivním střetu v létě 1866, kdy se v důsledku zvýšení hustoty dopravní infrastruktury a zavedení nových komunikačních a infrastrukturních sítí svět zdál „menší“ a „rychlejší“. Esej přináší analýzu dobového diskurzu, který autoři chápou nejen jako rámec, v němž se odehrávaly vzpomínky a události, ale také jako produkt těchto mnemonických procesů. Authors of the essay have attempted, based on ego-documents, to reveal the borderlines of the discrepancy between the expected standard of intensity and duration of the Austro-Prussian conflict and the subsequent reality. One of the 19th-century mnodernizing processes condensed in the short and intense clash in the summer of 1866 when in consequence of increased density of the traffic infrastructure and the introduction of new communication and infrastructure networks, the world seemed „smaller“ and „faster“. The essay brings an analysis of the period discrourse that the autohors understand not only as a frame within which memories and events were performed, but also as a poduct of mnemonic processes.

Analysis suggestion for vehicle scanning method

An analytical approach is suggested that can be conveniently applied in the framework of the Vehicle scanning method (VSM). It assumes that the modal parameters of a bridge will be imported from a finite element (FE) program into MATLAB, where the structural response caused by a moving mass and a moving spring mass is solved using coupling equations and numerical integration. A mathematical formulation of the solution is presented together with a short numerical case study that compares the results to a traditional closed form solution. It is shown that when comparing both forms of analysis the suggested approach is more accurate in the case of slow velocities of the passing sprung mass. Other advantages are that the method allows for the mass of the vehicle or (tractor) towing vehicle and a damping \nto be included in the calculation. The user-friendly preprocessing in commercial FE programs can also be considered an advantage.

Příspěvek je věnován názorům Daniela Adama z Veleslavína (1546–1599) na Čechy a cizince, s nimiž jsou české země ve styku, případně které znají z dostupné literatury. Jedná se zejména o Němce, Italy a Poláky, avšak pozornost je věnována i národům, které představují pro české země reálnou či potenciální hrozbu (Turci a Rusové). Veleslavín soudí, že staří Čechové disponovali dobrými vlastnostmi (udatnost, víra v boha, spolehlivost, dodržování řádu a zákonů), avšak stykem s cizími národy tyto vlastnosti ztrácejí, soustředí se více na světské radovánky a polevují v péči o národ a vlast. – Materiálovou bází pro příspěvek byly zejména česky psané předmluvy k dílům, které Veleslavín připravil ke knižnímu vydání v letech 1578– 1599.\n The paper is devoted to the views of Daniel Adam of Veleslavín (1546–1599) on the Czechs and foreigners with whom the Czech lands are in contact or who they know from the available literature. These are mainly Germans, Italians and Poles, but attention is also paid to peoples who pose a real or potential threat to the Czech lands (Turks and Russians). Veleslavín judges that the old Czechs possessed good qualities (bravery, faith in God, reliability, respect for order and laws), but that they lost these qualities through contact with foreign nations. They concentrate more on secular pleasures and slacken their concern for the nation and the homeland. The material base for the paper was the Czech written prefaces to the works that Veleslavín prepared for publication in 1578–1599.

A short study on self-balancing of vertical rotors mounted in passive contactless bearings

Energy losses and wear of the support elements of high-speed rotors can be reduced by mounting the rotors in stable passive contactless bearings, the operation of which is based on magnetic levitation. The goal of the conducted research was to investigate applicability of selfbalancing device added to vertical rotors supported by bearings showing low stiffness and damping, which is a specific property of passive magnetic bearings. This paper deals with applicability and efficiency of self-balancing devices added to vertical rotors supported by bearings having very low stiffness and damping, which corresponds to the properties of magnetic frictionless bearings.

This paper deals with the first experimental tests of hard rubbers under tensile harmonic loading on the axial-torsional servohydraulic Instron 8852 test machine. The objective of these experiments on cylindrical rubber specimens on this machine is to obtain stress-strain curves of rubber specimens, first considering uniaxial finite longitudinal strains for a single load cycle. Next, the hysteresis loops and their skeleton curves are compared for two selected strain measures as a function of their conjugate stress. It is shown how to obtain the dependence between elongation in the axial direction and constriction in the radial direction, which is used to determine the Cauchy stress in this configuration.

Hybridní svařování laser-MIG/MAG na ÚPT

Častým nedostatkem laserových svarů je jejich neúplné vyplnění, protože se laserem obvykle svařuje bez přídavného materiálu. Při hybridním svařování laser-MIG/MAG vytváří laserový svazek tavnou lázeň, do které je elektrickým obloukem dodáván přídavný materiál. Synergické působení obou zdrojů umožňuje dosažení hlubokého štíhlého svaru s požadovaným převýšením. Příspěvek seznamuje s problematikou integrace jednotlivých systémů, a představuje dosud provedené experimenty. Laser welds usually suffer from underfill defects because the welding is usually made without a filler wire. During the hybrid laser-MIG/MAG welding, the laser beam forms the melt pool, and the arc simultaneously delivers melted filler wire. The synergic interaction of both heat sources allows deeper penetration while the weld face is sufficiently filled and has the prescribed geometry. This contribution reports the issues of individual systems integration and presents already-made experiments.
