Ivan Borkovský. Archeolog mezi legendou, dvěma světovými válkami a dvěma totalitními režimy

2023 - Czech Archeolog Ivan Borkovský vedl více než čtyřicet let technicky a později i odborně výzkum Pražského hradu, vedle toho se věnoval desítkám dalších lokalit. Patří k nejvýraznějším osobnostem československé a české archeologie středověku. Byl kolegou a učitelem celé řady významných archeologů, historiků a architektů. Přesto v jeho osobním životě a v jeho osudech ve vypjatých obdobích 20. století jsou neznámé momenty. Ve vzpomínkových textech jeho žáků a kolegů se vyskytují příběhy, které se za téměř padesát let od jeho smrti staly legendami. Většina z nich se ale nezakládá na pravdě. Je otázkou, zda podnět k těmto příběhům dal Ivan Borkovský sám nebo zda vznikly později a jakou roli v nich sehrála osobnost vypravěče. Předkládaný text se věnuje především těmto zvratům v jeho životě a pokouší se archivním průzkumem potvrdit nebo vyvrátit často opakovaná cliché. V neposlední řadě je cílem práce připravit půdu pro komplexnější zpracování jeho odborného odkazu, které nebude možné bez pochopení úskalí, jež jeho život provázela. Archaeologist Ivan Borkovský led the technical and later professional research of Prague Castle for more than forty years, in addition to dozens of other sites. He is one of the most prominent personalities of Czechoslovak and Czech archaeology of the Middle Ages. He was a colleague and teacher of a number of prominent archaeologists, historians and architects. Yet there are unknown moments in his personal life and in his fate in the tense periods of the 20th century. In the memoirs of his students and colleagues, there are stories that have become legendary in the nearly fifty years since his death. But most of them are not based on truth. The question is whether Ivan Borkovský himself gave rise to these stories or whether they were written later and what role the personality of the narrator played in them. The presented text focuses on these twists and turns in his life and attempts to confirm or refute the oft-repeated clichés through archival research. Last but not least, the thesis aims to pave the way for a more comprehensive treatment of his scholarly legacy, which will not be possible without an understanding of the pitfalls that accompanied his life. Annular Impinging Jets and an Active Control of Hysteretic Effects

2023 - English An annular impinging air jet with and without flow control was studied experimentally using measurements of the wall pressure and flow velocity by the Pitot probe. To investigate flow control swirling effects, eight synthetic jets were generated from the nozzle center body. The experiments cover Reynolds numbers 4000–10,000 (evaluated from the outer exit diameter of the annular nozzle). For Re<9000, the bistability and hysteresis were identified and two different flow field patterns (A, B) were found under the same boundary conditions. For higher Re>9000, the hysteresis were not found. Stereolithography for manufacturing of advanced porous solids

2023 - English The aim of this paper is focused on benefits of stereolithography (SLA) technology for the fabrication of the lightweight lattice structures with potential for load-bearing function and high absorption of impact energy. SLA is an additive manufacturing technology employing the principle of liquid resins curing moderated by radiation of a wavelength from ultra-violet band where resulting material parameters are tunable by setting of the curing process. The batches of samples manufactured using three different resins were subjected to quasi-static uni-axial tensile and compression tests. Acquired data were processed to derive deformation behaviour expressed as stress-strain diagrams and fundamental material properties. Based on the knowledge obtained from the mechanical tests, the setup of the fabrication parameters, the most suitable resin for manufacturing of the lattice structures and the overall suitability of SLA technology for the fabrication of advanced porous materials, were determined. 2023 - Czech Náplní první části kurzu bude úvod do proteomiky s cílem ukázat současné metody a nástroje použitelné k akvizici a vyhodnocení proteomických dat. V první části probereme ve zkrácené formě všechny kroky experimentálního postupu od 1) designu experimentu tak, aby byl vhodný pro následnou LC/MS analýzu, 2) přípravy vzorku na příkladech imunoprecipitace a komplexního lyzátu až po 3) možnosti měření pomocí Data Dependent nebo Data Independent acquisition. Součástí kurzu bude i kritické hodnocení kvality naměřených dat. Při vyhodnocení se zaměříme na možnosti zpracování dat ve freeware SW typu MaxQuant a DIAnn. Rovněž Vás stručně seznámíme s komerčními programy – Proteome Discoverer, PEAKS, Spectronaut. Druhá část kurzu bude zahrnovat úvod do statistického zpracování kvantitativních proteomických dat v softwaru Perseus. Důraz bude kladen na pochopení důležitých statistických pojmů (distribuce dat, t-test, ANOVA, p-value, FDR, atd.) a porozumění všem nezbytným krokům statistické analýzy, jako je filtrace dat, normalizace dat, statistické testování, apod. K dispozici budou modelová data, která budou účastníci v rámci kurzu zpracovávat. The first part of the course will be an introduction to proteomics with the aim to show current methods and tools used for proteomic data acquisition and evaluation. In the first part, we will discuss in abbreviated form all steps of the experimental procedure from 1) designing the experiment to be suitable for subsequent LC/MS analysis, 2) sample preparation using examples of immunoprecipitation and complex lysate, to 3) measurement options using Data Dependent or Data Independent acquisition. The course will also include a critical evaluation of the quality of the measured data. The evaluation will focus on the possibilities of data processing in freeware software such as MaxQuant and DIAnn. We will also briefly introduce you to commercial programs - Proteome Discoverer, PEAKS, Spectronaut. The second part of the course will include an introduction to statistical processing of quantitative proteomic data in Perseus software. Emphasis will be placed on understanding important statistical concepts (data distribution, t-test, ANOVA, p-value, FDR, etc.) and understanding all necessary steps of statistical analysis such as data filtering, data normalization, statistical testing, etc. There will be model data that participants will process during the course. 2023 - Czech Hodnocení ekosystémových služeb (ES) se v průběhu posledních dvou dekád stalo důležitým koncepčním a modelovým nástrojem využívaným při kvantifikaci příspěvku jednotlivých ekosystémů (včetně globálního)\na biologické rozmanitosti k lidskému blahobytu. I když existuje celá řada koncepčních rámců a široká škála empirických aplikací, chybí podrobnější teoretická vymezení opírající se o ekologické a ekonomické teorie a rovněž\npřetrvává nejednoznačnost v definování pojmu ekosystémová služba. Ad hoc vymezení a obecná formulace tohoto pojmu je pak limitující v interpretaci dosažených výsledků, možnosti srovnání napříč studiemi, včetně provádění přenosu hodnot a funkcí hodnot, či při koncipování ekonomických nástrojů jakým jsou např. platby za ekosystémový služby. V tomto příspěvku proto diskutujeme pojmy jako je konečný produkt, meziprodukt, ekologická produkční funkce a funkce užitku, tedy pojmy, které jsou určující pro korektní vymezení ES z pohledu ekonomické teorie. The assessment of ecosystem services (ES) has become an important concept during the last two decades and a model tool used to quantify the contribution of individual ecosystems (including the global one)\nand biodiversity to human well-being. Although there are a number of conceptual frameworks and a wide variety empirical applications, there is a lack of more detailed theoretical definitions based on ecological and economic theories as well ambiguity persists in defining the term ecosystem service. Ad hoc delineation and general formulation of this the concept is then limiting in the interpretation of the achieved results, the possibility of comparison across studies, including implementation transfer of values and functions of values, or when designing economic instruments such as payments for ecosystem services. Therefore, in this paper we discuss terms such as final product, intermediate product,\necological production function and utility function, i.e. concepts that are decisive for the correct definition of ES from the point of view economic theory. 2023 - English Blade tip timing (BTT) system is a non-invasive method used for measuring the blade tip timing of rotating machinery. The BTT system typically consists of sensor probes, signal conditioning system, and data acquisition unit. The sensor probes are placed in proximity to the rotating blade tips, Sensors measure the time at which each blade passes by the probe. By measuring the blade tip timing, the BTT system can detect changes in the blade tip vibration, which is an important for the health monitoring and performance optimization of rotating machinery [1]. To ensure accurate measurement of blade tip timing, the probe arrangement is crucial. The placement of the probe relative to the blade tips can affect the measurement accuracy, and thus, several arrangement algorithms have been developed to optimize the placement of the probes. Instead of considering the condition number, a statistical algorithms is followed to optimize the placement of probes for accurate measurement of blade tip timing in turbo-machinery. Náhrobky rodu Švamberků z období 15. až počátku 17. století z uměleckohistorického hlediska

Překvapivý je fakt, že ačkoliv šlo o významný šlechtický rod, dochované práce jsou většinou průměrné nebo podprůměrné kvality, které, zejména pokud jde o díla z 15. století, odrážejí převažující stav sepulkrální skulptury oné doby. Při zvolení prosté formy náhrobku mohlo hrát roli více faktorů. Kromě utrakvistické kritiky majestátních funerálních děl i nedostatku kvalitních kameníků po husitských válkách to mohla být obecně i myšlenka vzdorování pýše a důraz na osvědčení křesťanské skromnosti bez ohledu na konfesi pohřbeného. Only a fragment has remained from the original collection of the Švamberk family tombstones that was still quite large at the beginning of the 18th century. Surprisingly,\neven though the Švamberks were a prominent noble family, the surviving works usually show average or below-average quality which, as far as the 15th century works are concerned, reflect the prevailing condition of sepulchral sculpture in Bohemia of the time. More factors could have been behind opting for an austere form of the tombstone.
