2019 - English
Derivatives of 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) are well-known bident ligands which had a lot of interesting applications thanks to their coordination abilities. Selected 1,10-phenanthroline compounds were studied by electrochemical methods. Depending on their different substituents were observed several oxidation and reduction voltammetric peaks. The study involves also in situ spectroeletrochemistry, infrared spectroscopy and identification of products by HPLC-DAD and HPLC-ESI MS/MS. Keywords: electrochemistry; oxidation mechanism; reduction mechanism Available on request at various institutes of the ASCR

2019 - English
Catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction is one of known effects observed during the electrochemical studies of proteins. Constant current chronopotentiometric stripping technique is suitable tool for the study of catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction due to the formation of peak H. This contribution compares the catalytic behaviour of nonmodified papain and its artificial derivatives prepared by the interaction of organometallic complexes of ruthenium with free sulfhydryl group of protein. The comparison of the chronopotentiometric behaviour of papain and its derivatives would help to better understand the catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction in these derivatives. Keywords: papain; ruthenium organometallic complexes; artificial metalloproteins; catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction Available on request at various institutes of the ASCR

Examination of the Spatial Structure of Pigs' Melanoma in Tissue Sections Based on Histology and Mass Spectrometry
Anýz, J.; Vysloužilová, L.; Horák, Vratislav; Štěpánková, O.; Vaculovič, T.; Adam, V.
2019 - English
We examine the spatial structure of the melanoma in tissue sections. The pigs melanoma was examined in 10 tissue samples obtained from animals of age between 4 and 22 weeks. The tissue sections were measured by light microscopy and Laser Ablation Ion Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry to obtain spatial metal (Cu, Zn) distribution. The exploratory analysis of the tissue sections indicates there is clearly a pattern in the spatial structure. Different projections of the spatial structure of the melanoma are obtained by the different measurement methods. The spectral clustering on the data was utilized to describe the structure in the data. According to the clustering results, there are distinct clusters of observations in the histological data. The spatial elemental distribution of the metals Cu and Zn cannot be clustered -the data form one compact cluster. The clustering of the histological images produces clusters which are related to the annotation of the biological samples in broader terms -the differences between fibrous and cancerous tissue. Keywords: MeLiM; melanoma Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Charge Transport in Single Oligophenylene Molecular Wires with Different Anchoring Groups

2019 - English
This work compares single molecule conductance measurements of selected organic systems containing identical oligophenylene molecular wires and different tripodal anchoring groups. Single molecule conductance G was obtained by a scanning tunneling microscopy break junction technique complemented by theoretical calculations based on the density functional theory and non-equilibrium Green’s function formalism. Two molecules were compared where the same oligophenylene wire is connected to one of the electrodes via a tripod substituted on each leg by a thiol group either in the meta or para position. By combined experimental and theoretical analysis it was possible to confirm that single molecule conductance in the metal-molecule-metal junction of both molecules corresponds to a fully extended molecular wire, which is attached to one of the electrodes by all three thiolate bonds of the tripod. Experimental results confirmed that G value of meta-connected molecules is lower than that of para, whereas junction formation probability was higher for meta functionalization. Method optimization for simultaneous separation of six triazole fungicides in HPLC
Kovač, Ishak; Martín Miján, P.; Del Sol Vega Alegre, M.; Dejmková, H.; Jaklová Dytrtová, Jana; Schwarzová, K.
2019 - English
Triazole pesticides are widely used in agriculture against fungi pathogens. Their application is not restricted on just one member of the group, more importantly, the application is usually carried out in the mixture of two or more triazoles. Hence, this work focuses on simultaneous separation and detection of six triazole fungicides: penconazole, tebuconazole, propiconazole, cyproconazole, fenbuconazole, and difenoconazole. Two different columns were tested with different parameters for isocratic and gradient elution in HPLC with UV detector. On Purospher Reverse Phase-18 column with gradient elution isomers of triazoles cyproconazole and propiconazole were successfully separated. However, on this column, there was an overlap of some triazoles. In contrast, the isocratic elution on Kromasil Eternity-5-PhenylHexyl column showed sufficient separation capabilities. In further research, chiral separation of triazoles will be considered using capillary electrophoresis. Keywords: capillary electrophoresis; HPLC; triazole pesticides Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Quick determination of compounds contained in caraway (Carum carvi L.) by a method usable in agricultural practice
Horáčková, L.; Pluháčková, H.; Bradáčová, M.; Kudláčková, Barbora
2019 - English
Caraway is a very important agricultural commodity whose quality is determined by parameters such as dry matter, essential oil content and composition, especially the ratio of its two major components carvone and limonene. Appropriate method for their analysis is given in the Cesky lekopis (2017), however, this method is rather time-consuming, costly and demands large quantity of sample. The use of a NIR spectrometer could be a viable alternative, it is much faster and cheaper, as can be clearly seen from the comparison of both methods in this paper. In the time aspect, it's saving from many hours to a few minutes. Newly presented method could potentially be more accessible to agricultural companies who need quick quality verification of their product before taking it to the market from the viewpoint of final product quality not just the quantity, which, in most cases, is nowadays a current state of practice. Keywords: caraway; essential oil; carvone; limonene Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Electrochemical Investigation of Polylactic Acid/Carbon Black Composite Filament for the Manufacture of 3D Printed Electrodes
Sebechlebská, Táňa; Vaněčková, Eva; Shestivska, Violetta; Kolivoška, Viliam
2019 - English
Fused deposition modeling 3D printing has recently attracted increasing attention as an inexpensive, fast, reliable, adaptable and environmentally friendly tool to fabricate electrodes and electrochemical cells from composites of thermoplastics and carbon nanostructures. In this work, we use electric conductance measurements and cyclic voltammetry employing Ru(acac)30/1- as an electroactive probe to demonstrate that commercial polylactic acid(PLA)/carbon black composite filaments may be readily used as functional working electrodes in aqueous electrolytes. We further devise a procedure that leads to an improvement of their electrochemical performance. Characteristics of composite filaments treated by the optimized procedure approach those of classical metallic electrodes. Keywords: 3D printed electrodes; Fused deposition modeling; Polylactic acid; Carbon black Available on request at various institutes of the ASCR

Measurement of the vertical profile of the ground level of the atmosphere using an unmanned platform First results
Novotný, J.; Bystrický, R.; Dejinal, K.; Trusina, Jan; Komínková, Kateřina
2019 - English
Application of new technologies such as unmanned platforms is also on the rise in meteorology. The paper brings the first comparison of measurement sensors placed on the drone with standard meteorological measure-ments on the mast. The mast data provides continuous data over time, but not in space and only in five defined heights. The first results show a good match between mast measurements and measurements using a flying dron in wind direction and wind speed. Additional influences specific to the newly designed measurement method is the main problem, which must be solved. Keywords: Drone; Meteorological mast; Temperature; Vertical profile; Wind Available at various institutes of the ASCR
