Ondráček, Jakub; Ondráčková, Lucie; Dřevínek, M.; Otáhal, P.; Vošáhlík, J.
2022 - English
Furthermore, during COVID pandemic many people were using the PPEs for longer time than it was suggested by the manufacturer or tried to use home-made or web \ncommunity recommended decontamination/disinfection/antiviral treatments. Such treatments may severely destroy the structure of the filtration material and alter the \nfiltration properties as compared to the original piece of the PPE and thus not protect the wearer properly against harmful particles. This work aims to estimate the change in the \nsize-resolved filtration efficiency of different respirators after application of selected decontamination/disinfection treatments. Analýza materiálových toků textilních odpadů v České Republice
Shtukaturova, Anastasia
2022 - English
Objemy textilních odpadů se v posledních desetiletích neustále zvyšují kvůli nadměrné spotřebě textilních výrobků v souvislosti s nízkonákladovou rychlou módou, rostoucí populací a vyšší životní úrovní obyvatelstva. Získané výsledky potvrzují, že Česká republika zatím není dostatečně připravena na plnění cílů Akčního plánu v případě textilních odpadů, a to kvůli jeho neustále rostoucím objemům a chybějícím recyklačním technologiím\n Volumes of textile waste have been continuously increasing over last few decades because of the overconsumption of textile products linked to low-cost fast fashion, growing population and higher living standards. Both textile industry and waste generation contribute to environmental pollution and production of greenhouse and waste gases. In 2020, the EU adopted the new Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) for the transition to the circular economy where the waste considers to be a valuable resource. Principles of the CEAP need to be implemented into the legislation of each Member state. In the Czech Republic, a new waste treatment law based on the CEAP was adopted in 2021. The new waste treatment law determines important changes for the textile waste treatment in the country. To prepare the Czech Republic for these significant changes, a material flow analysis (MFA) was created to determine the current state with textile waste streams. The results showed that the production of industrial textile waste was 70 405 tons in the year 2010 and 87 840 tons in the year 2019, so there is no big increase for this type of textile waste. The production of textile waste from households was 37 393 tons in the year 2019 and it is almost ten times higher in a comparison with the year 2010. Moreover, the analysis of municipal solid waste (MSW) samples showed that they contained about 7% of different types of used textiles which may be suitable for recycling. Obtained results confirm that the Czech Republic is not enough prepared for meeting the objectives of the CEAP in a case of textile waste because of its constantly growing volumes and lack of recycling technologies.\n\n Keywords: textile waste streams; analysis; new waste treatment law Available in a digital repository NRGL

NIVB Meeting 2022
Šímová, Šárka
2022 - English
The first annual meeting of the National Institute of Virology and Bacteriology (NIVB) in Kutná Hora on 30.11.–2.12. is an opportunity for participating teams to meet, discuss excellent science, establish collaborations, and introduce the project to the members of our newly established International Science Advisory Board. The primary objective of NIVB is to mediate the cooperation among the 28 participating research teams from 8 Czech research institutions: Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Institute of Molecular Genetic, and Biological Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, and Palacký University in Olomouc. We are delighted that it was possible to arrange the meeting of all the participating research groups, which reflects the scientific breadth of NIVB. The research interests of the participating groups can be broadly assigned into the programs of (1) Pathogen-host interactions, (2) Immunity against viruses and bacteria, and (3) Treatments for viral and bacterial infections. We thank all participants for contributing 28 presentations and 65 posters to the meeting. This conference is a pioneering endeavor, the first meeting that will bridge the virology and bacteriology communities from the Czech Republic. While the research interests of all the participating groups are focused on virology and bacteriology, the contributing laboratories are very diverse in the research methodologies they employ. Therefore, the meeting has the potential to enable the establishment of new scientific collaborations among the participating teams, which is the main objective of NIVB.\nNIVB Meeting 2022 has the ambition to launch a new series of annual meetings on virology and bacteriology and aims at informing wider scientific community about new development, trends and issues in these scientific fields. Removal of PFASs from sewage sludge by pyrolysis
Hušek, Matěj
2022 - English
Our work aimed to describe PFASs behaviour at different pyrolysis temperatures (200 to 700 °C). We analysed 37 PFAS in sewage sludge samples and pyrolysis products. The temperature at which PFASs were removed from the sewage sludge at more than 99.0% was 400 °C, and at 600 °C, removal was more than 99.9%. As a result, it is recommended for commercial sludge pyrolysis units (larger volume, lower material homogeneity) that the process temperature be not lower than 600 °C. This recommendation is supported and demonstrated by the analyses of samples from the Bohuslavice Trutnov WWTP (CZE), where the sludge pyrolysis unit is in operation.\n Keywords: sewage sludge samples; pyrolysis; temperature Available in a digital repository NRGL
