Transformations of the Plane: Study of Bionic Architectural Models of Anton Vranka

Structural modelling techniques of architect and professor Anton Vranka influenced in a specific way several generations of students at the Faculty of Architecture STU in Bratislava. The phenomenon of so-called Vrankovina - problem, puzzles, or a proposal that thrives on geometry, uses the effect of optical illusions, or transforms any flat medium into a surprising spatial structure is still known among the students and graduates a few years after Vranka has retired. His unique approach creates links between Bauhaus theory of architecture, architectural bionic and biomimetic, fascinating directions in architectural theory from the 1960s through to 1980s. The aim of this paper is to capture knowledge stored in Vranka’s fragile paper models, and report on his motives and methods and theoretical works. They are thus added to a growing circle of works on folded architecture. The proposed systemization documents an astounding variety of forms, created when just a few creative processes. Categorization of the models will be used as a basic platform for transferring theoretical works in architectural building practice. Štruktívne modelovanie slovenského architekta a pedagóga Antona Vranku špecifickým spôsobom ovplyvnilo niekoľko generácií študentov pripravujúcich sa na Fakulte architektúry STU v Bratislave na povolanie architekta. Fenomén tzv. Vrankoviny, problému, hádanky, alebo návrhu, ktorý sa vyžíva v geometrii, využíva optický klam, alebo pretvára plošné médium na prekvapivú priestorovú štruktúra sa medzi študentmi a absolventmi traduje ešte dnes, niekoľko rokov po Vrankovom odchode na dôchodok. Jeho jedinečný prístup k teórii architektúry spája odkaz Bauhausu s prúdom architektonickej bioniky a biomimetiky, fascinujúcich smerov v architektonickej teórii 60. až 80. rokov 20. storočia. Cieľom tejto práce je zachytiť poznanie, uložené vo Vrankovych krehkých papierových modeloch, a podať správu o jeho motívoch a metódach. Zdokumentovaním východísk a teoretických prác sa tieto poznatky pridajú do rastúceho kruhu zdrojov pojednávajúcich o skladanej architektúre. Uvedená systemizácia používaných vyjadrovacích prvkov dokumentuje ohromujúcu pestrosť foriem vychádzajúcu z iba niekoľkých tvorivých prostriedkov. Z nej vychádzajúca kategorizácia výsledných modelov v rámci tohto výskumu poslúži ako báza pre skúmanie možností prenesenia teoretických prác do stavebnej praxe.

The Impact of Architectural Form of Residential Buildings on the Quality of Public Space

The process of creating residential areas has changed over the decades by social and economic conditions. One of the important factors affecting the quality of public space, depending on their location, is an overall form of urban structure. The work focuses on the correlation of expressions form of the housing environment and associated public space. By three selected examples of residential structures in Bratislava, the paper attempts to explain the process of creation and function of interspace in linear areas. Common character of expression is rhythmic shifting of line objects and mass - spatial features. Knowledge of development and analysis of these residential complexes will allow us to understand their inner order and context within the creation of public spaces. Proces tvorby obytného prostredia sa v priebehu desaťročí menil podľa spoločenských a ekonomických podmienok. Jedným z dôležitých faktorov ovplyvňujúcich kvalitu verejného priestoru je celková forma urbanistickej štruktúry, v ktorej sa nachádza. Práca sa zameriava na koreláciu hmotového stvárnenia obytného prostredia a prislúchajúceho verejného priestoru. Na troch vybraných príkladoch obytných štruktúr z Bratislavy, sa snaží priblížiť proces tvorby a fungovanie medzipriestorov lineárnej zástavby. Spoločným nositeľom výrazu je rytmické radenie líniových objektov a hmotovo- priestorová charakteristika miesta. Poznanie vývoja a analýza týchto obytných súborov nám umožní pochopiť ich vnútorné usporiadanie a kontext v rámci tvorby verejných priestorov.

Specific Forms of Residential Space in Urban Areas: Adaptation of Public Space of Residential Structures in Post–socialist Countries

Dealing with the heritage of socialist mass housing planning is also a part of research on public spaces of residential buildings. Residential housing of the socialist period in Slovakia is dealing with the same issues. Questions of lifespan, transformation and intensification of mass housing are common topics of different post socialist countries. However, dealing with the heritage of socialism and humanization of settlements is different. In countries to the east of Slovakia, context of less developed economy and local cultural and social characteristics paradoxically led to several innovative housing solutions. In our context, similar planning projects remained only on paper while in the country of Georgia, Armenia and Ukraine became materialized. The paper focuses on comparison of the development of housing and public space based on social and historical context of these countries, which have several common urban characteristics. Súčasťou výskumu verejných priestorov obytného prostredia je aj téma vyrovnávania sa s dedičstvom socialistickej masovej bytovej výstavby. Obytné súbory socialistického plánovania na Slovensku sa dnes stretávajú s podobnými problémami. Otázky životnosti, trvalej udržateľnosti, transformácie a intenzifikácie sídelných štruktúr, sú však spoločnou témou viacerých krajín. Proces vysporiadavania sa s dedičstvom socializmu a humanizácie sídlisk je rôzny. Kontext menej vyspelej ekonomiky a kultúrno-spoločenských špecifík krajín na východ od Slovenska paradoxne umožnil vzniknúť variante viacerých inovatívnych riešení. V našom kontexte zostali podobné projekty iba na papieri, no v krajinách Gruzínska, Arménska a Ukrajiny sa realizovali. Na porovnanie vývoja bývania a verejných priestorov v tomto príspevku slúži spoločenský a historický kontext týchto krajín, ktoré majú niekoľko spoločných urbánnych charakteristík.

Koncept spolutvorby je zmenou vo vnímaní hodnoty pre zákazníka, so zásadným dopadom na konkurencieschopnosť podniku, ktorá umožňuje podniku disponovať určitou konkurenčnou výhodou. Z pohľadu zákazníka ide nie len o prijímanie hodnoty, ale na tvorbe hodnoty sa môže aj podieľať. Spoločnosť stojí na strane zriaďovateľa hodnoty, ktorá ponúka hodnotové propozície a spolutvorba hodnoty sa objaví v momente, keď zákazník pozve dpoločnosť do spojenej sféry. Tento článok pojednáva o koncepte hodnoty v marketingu z pohľadu tovaro-dominantnej logiky. Kombinuje zapojenie spotrebiteľa do procesu spolutvorby a paralelne opisuje význam hodnoty pre spoločnosť, ktorá už bola v odbornej literatúre mnohokrát analyzovaná z ekonomického hľadiska, no tento článok prináša pohľad prostredníctvom kvalitatívnych ukazovateľov rozdelených do troch dimenzionálnych štruktúr. Mikro-analytický prístup k vnímanej hodnote, tzv. zoom-in prístup, umožňuje posilniť myšlienku vnímanej hodnoty na trhoch B2B a B2C.

Príspevok sa zaoberá analýzou súčasnej literatúry, ktorá sa venuje hodnoteniu finančnej výkonnosti podniku v domácom, ale aj zahraničnom prostredí a jednotlivými faktormi, ktoré na túto výkonnosť vplývajú. Na základe preštudovanej literatúry sa autorka snaží stanoviť kľučové faktory, ktoré jednak vplývajú na výkonnosť výrobných podnikov, avšak na druhej strane sa snaži identifikovať medzeru v tejto oblasti, ktorá by mohla byť predmetom ďalšieho výskumu. Dilčím cieľom príspevku je získanie prehľadu metodiky, ktorá bude použitá v dizertačnej práci autorky. Záverom je zhrnutie prínosov s bližším určením faktorov, ktorým sa autorka bude venovať v budúcnosti. Cieľom príspevku je zhodnotiť a vytvoriť prehľad skúmaných interných faktorov v spoločnosti, ktoré vplývajú na finančnú výkonnosť vo výrobných českých aj zahraničných podnikoch.

Effect of Plasma Oxidation of Carbon Working Electrode on Its Electrochemical Response

Screen-printed electrochemical sensors are very perspective because they are much smaller than common electrodes used in electrochemistry, portable, ecological and can be very easily modified in order to increase their sensitivity and selectivity for specific analytes. In this study, plasma treatment was used to modify the carbon working electrode of a screen-printed threeelectrodes system. Plasma treatment was performed using RF plasma discharge in argon/oxygen atmosphere. The plasma modified electrodes exhibited considerable enhancement in electrocatalytic activity towards studied electroactive compounds.

Nevizuálne svetelné prostredie v budovách

Daylight plays an important role in achieving energy savings and visual comfort in buildings. It conforms to human circadian rhythms and provides the best visual conditions in the work environment and residential buildings. Due to the dynamics of life in today's modern society, people are spending more and more time indoors. As a result, we are exposed to less and less time directly in daylight. This is true depending on the appropriateness of the indoor lighting environment. The diversity of geometric properties of the space, but also the optical properties of building materials significantly complicate the simplified view of the evaluation of the circadian potential in buildings. This fact points to the fact that not only the quantity but also the quality (i.e., colour spectrum of light) of the indoor light environment needs to be properly addressed. Denné svetlo zohráva významnú úlohu pri dosahovaní úspor energie a vizuálneho pohodlia v budovách. Je v súlade s ľudskými cirkadiánnymi rytmami a umožňuje najlepšie vizuálne podmienky v pracovnom prostredí a v obytných budovách. Vzhľadom na dynamiku života v súčasnej modernej spoločnosti ľudia trávia v interiéroch stále viac času. V dôsledku toho sa vystavujeme čoraz menej času priamemu dennému svetlu. Táto skutočnosť zvyšuje dôležitosť vhodne navrhnutého vnútorného svetelného prostredia. Rôznorodosť geometrických vlastností priestoru, ale aj optických vlastnosti stavebných materiálov výrazne komplikuje zjednodušený pohľad na hodnotenie cirkadiánneho potenciálu v budovách. Tento fakt poukazuje na skutočnosť, že nielen kvantitu, ale aj kvalitu (t.j. spektrálne zloženie svetla) vnútorného svetelného prostredia je potrebné vhodne riešiť.
