Synthesis and Functionalization of Phenacenes Containing δ-Lactam Ring.
Váňa, Lubomír; Církva, Vladimír; Pfleger, Jiří; Storch, Jan
2018 - English
This work is aimed at the development of a new efficient methodology towards the synthesis of various aza[5]phenacenes containing δ-lactam ring in their structure. Possibilities of their functionalization or derivatization are also discussed, along with complexation properties of suitable aza-derivatives as ligands in transition-metal complexes. The resulting compounds are investigated in terms of their material properties, especially for the formation of thin film structures capable of an efficient semi-conductivity or their potential application as photoluminescent complexes in OLEDs.

Ebulliometric and Static Measurement of Total Pressure in the in the Binary Water + Poly(Ethylene Glycol) System.
Pavlíček, Jan; Bogdanić, Grozdana; Wichterle, Ivan; Izák, Pavel
2018 - English
The total pressure of the systems containing water and three different poly(ethylene glycol)s with nominal molecular weights of 1000, 3000 and 6000 g mol-1 was measured isothermally at 303.15, 308.15, 313.15, 323.15, 333.15, 343.15, 353.15 and 363.15, using the improved static apparatus for lower temperatures and ebulliometrically for higher temperatures, covering the concentration range up to 50 wt % of the polymer. The 343.15 K isotherm was measured by both experimental methods, and both showed good continuity and performance. A lot of additional data have been measured but not yet published, which are integrated here together with our recent measurement.

Jakubík, Pavel; Storch, Jan; Žádný, Jaroslav; Pfleger, Jiří; Církva, Vladimír
2017 - English
Synthetic strategies to partially fluorinated polyaromatics by photocyclization were examined, leading to both 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoro[6]helicene (1) and 1,2,3,4,13,14,15,16-octafluoro[6]helicene (2), and to 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoro[5]phenacene (3) and 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoro[6]phenacene (4). Thin films of the prepared compounds were characterized for their electrical properties and incorporated into OFET structures.

High-Volume Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash Concrete.
Reiterman, P.; Holčapek, O.; Krausová, A.; Šyc, Michal; Keppert, M.
2017 - English
About 50% of Municipal Solid Waste is incinerated (MSWI) in Europe what represent ca. 50 Mt/a of MSWI bottom ash (BA). Bottom ash contains several marketable components (iron scrap, non-ferrous metals, glass) which can by separated from the main BA stream and placed on the market with secondary sources. The resting material is, by its composition and properties, similar to natural aggregates and can be used in this way. The influence of metals separation form BA on its behaviour in concrete was tested by using BA from Praha Malešice Waste-to-Energy Plant. Particle size fractions 4/8 and 8/16 mm of this BA can be used as aggregates in concrete up to 50 vol. % of given fraction without any significant loss of concrete strength. The combination of valuable component separation form BA and recycling of the rest portion as aggregates feature promising way of BA management reducing the amount of BA to be landfilled to minimum.
