FLC-15: Challenges in polar self-assembling systems

This is the Book of Abstracts for the 15th International Conference on Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (FLC-15 conference) held in Prague on June 28 - July 3, 2015. The broadening of the field compared to the beginning of this biennial series in 1987 is expressed in the conference subtitle: Challenges in polar self-assembling systems. The continuous worldwide interest to this conference series is proving that it has still a respected position within the series of International/European conferences on liquid crystals covering all interdisciplinary field of the liquid crystal research. At the FLC-15 conference more than 130 participants from 25 countries all over the world will present 5 key-note lectures, 14 invited talks and selected 39 oral contributions. The number has been limited to keep the single session conference format as it is a tradition for the FLC conference series. About 90 posters were presented in two poster sessions. For your convenience, the FLC-15 conference program is presented in this book.

The book of extended abstracts contains the papers presented at the 22nd International Conference on Engineering Mechanics, which has been held in Svratka resort in Czech Republic under auspices of the Czech Society of Mechanics and being a part of IFTOMM (The International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science) activities. As it corresponds with character of the conference, this proceedings book consists of several topic oriented parts: Linear and Nonlinear Dynamics and Stability, Aeroelasticity, Hydroelasticity and Fluid Mechanics, Biomechanics, Fracture Mechanics, Mechatronics, Reliability of Structures, Mechanics of Solids, Thermomechanics. The publication represents a well-balanced overview of theoretical, numerical and experimental work on fundamental and applied studies.

Proceedings of the Colloquium DYNAMICS OF MACHINES AND MECHANICAL SYSTEMS WITH INTERACTIONS (DYMAMESI), that was held in the Institute of Thermomechanics in Prague, November 25 - 26, 2014 deal with problems structural and multibody dynamics, in coupled interacting systems as aero-elasticity, hydro-elasticity, biomechanics, systems with feedbacks and mechatronics. ITAT 2014. Information Technologies - Applications and Theory. Part I. Prague : Institute of Computer Science AS CR, 2014. 101 p. ISBN 978-80-87136-18-8. This volume is the first part of the two-volume proceedings of the 14th conference Information Technologies – Applications and Theory (ITAT 2014). The conference was held in Jasná, Demänovská Dolina, Slovakia, on September 25–29, 2014. ITAT is a computer science conference with the primary goal of exchanging information on recent research results between Czech and Slovak scientific communities, and it presents a platform for young researchers and PhD students to start new collaborations. This year, it was held in parallel with two collocated conferences Datakon and Znalosti with which it shared some invited plenary talks and a poster session. Overall, 51 papers were submitted to all conference tracks. This volume presents 16 papers of the main track, which were selected by the program committee based on at least two reviews by the program committee members. Papers from the three workshops and extended abstracts of posters are included in the second volume.
