Alternative storytelling principles

During my film studies we were thought how to understand and how to apply rules of screenwriting of traditional drama structure. Besides the three act structure, there are alternative episodic ways of constructing a narrative with their own rules. However many succesful episodical films lean on the traditional three act structure. My aim was to recognize the principles of combining of the structures, and to explore how they are rendered through directing within films of high cinematic quality. Through four contemporary revisionist westerns four potential principles are found that could be applied in screenwriting of other genres as well. These films are showing how to avoid the formulaic storytelling sollutions, while they prooveing that socially relevant themes can be explored within genre films that mass audiences are eager to see. Během studií jsme se učili, jak porozumět pravidlům psaní scénáře a jak je aplikovat na tradiční strukturu dramatu. Krom uspořádání do tří aktů existují také alternativní epizodické způsoby konstruování vyprávění s odlišnými pravidly. Přesto řada úspěšných epizodických filmů stojí na tradiční trojaktové stavbě. Mým cílem bylo popsat principy prolínání struktur a zkoumat, jak jsou uplatňovány v režijním zpracování filmů vysoké umělecké kvality. Ve čtyřech současných revisionistických westernech byly nalezeny čtyři možné principy, které je možné uplatnit také při psaní scénářů pro filmy jiných žánrů. Tyto filmy ukazují, jak je možné se vyhnout scenáristickým klišé a zároveň potvrzují, že aktuální sociální témata mohou být zkoumána v rámci žánrových filmů, o které masové publikum stojí.

The opera The Emperor of Atlantis opens a door to a significant world. My journeys to the town Terezin was accompanied with thoughtsas each visit had it own value, and focused on different perspective of the history. I was traveling to Terezin in my own initiation, while other people, with the similar origin amine, about 70 years ago have done it in coercion, without any idea of their destiny The opera The Emperor of Atlantis opens a door to a significant world. My journeys to the town of Terezin was accompanied with thoughts as each visit had it own value, and focused od different perspective of the history.

Czech and (Slovak) Postmodern Photography is a discussion of how trends differ in the land that is now the ?Czech Republic? in comparison with western (mainly American) postmodern photography. The author who is ?American? is hoping the paper could be a starting point for people who are unfamiliar with the Czech Culture. It is not a precise catalogue of what is Czech Postmodern photography; it is merely an attempt to point out some trends in the development Czech Postmodern Photography. The author, believe that there are three waves (or periods) of Postmodern Czech Photography have occurred: One that begins around 1968, a second that begins in 1989, and a third that is still in the process of becoming. In addiction, the author believes that is important to understand characteristics of Structuralism in comparison to Post-Structuralism in the attempt to understand how these trends Postmodern trends transpire, because after 1968, Post-Structuralism played an important role in western culture, while in Czechoslovakia the imposed Marxist form of thought was decidedly Structuralist. Czech and (Slovak) Postmodern Photography je diskusí o tom, jak se liší trendy v zemi, která je nyní Českou republikou, v porovnání se západní (hlavně americkou) postmoderní fotografií. Autorka, která je Američankou, doufá, že by toto pojednání mohlo být odrazovým můstkem pro lidi, kteří českou kulturu neznají. Není to precizní katalog České postmoderní fotografie; je to pouze poukus vyzdvihnout některé trendy v rozvoji České postmoderní fotografie. Autorka si myslí, že existují tři vlny (či období) České postmoderní fotografie: První, začínající kolem roku 1968, druhý, který začal v roce 1989 a třetí, který je ve stádiu zrodu. Navíc autorka věří, že je důležité porozumět charakteristice Strukturalismu v porovnání s Poststrukturalismem a pokusit se pochopit, jak se tyto postmoderní trendy rozšiřují, protože po roce 1968 hrál Poststrukturalismus důležitou roli v západní kultuře, zatímco v tehdejším Československu byl povinnou marxistickou myšlenkovou formou rozhodně Strukturalismus.

Pedro Meyer is a visionary artist who pioneered the descent into the new technological age of photography. At a time when computers and digital photography were a foreign concept to most professionals in the field, Meyer was switching out traditional cameras, darkrooms and film for the new tools technology had to offer. Combining aspects and details from different photographs by using computers, Meyer made new and more complex images. He mastered the art of altering photographs to bring forth his own point of view. By being able to combine the most interesting facets of different images, Meyer was able to capitalize on the most effective parts of those images and alter them into new pictures which told a much larger story. He took the taboo idea of altering a photograph and made it acceptable in projects such as ( ?I Photograph to remember?,
?Truths and fictions ?).Meyer's visionary intuition into the fact that photography must evolve with the new technologies in order to survive continues to affect new photographers and photography schools throughout the world. His point of view however, raises interesting ideas about the morality, authenticity and copy writing issues behind altering and molding photographs to reflect his own personal views. Pedro Meyer je vizuální umělec, který jako jeden z prvních přivedl fotografii do nové technologické éry. V době, kdy počítače a digitální fotografie byly pro většinu lidí z oboru velkou neznámou, vyměnil Meyer tradiční fotoaparát, temnou komoru a film za nové technologické postupy. Pomocí počítače Meyer kombinoval části a detaily z různých fotografií a vytvořil tak nové a celistvější zobrazení. Uprovování fotografií ovládal do takové míry, že se tak zrodil jeho vlastní způsob vyjadřování. Kombinováním nejzajímavějších aspektů různých fotografií mohl Meyer zhodnotit jejich nejpůsobivější části a přeměnit je v nové obrazy vypovídající širší příběh. Myšlenku pozměňování fotografie, která byla do té doby tabu, etabloval například v projektech "I Photograph to Remember? ( Fotografuji, abych nezapomněl) a " Truths and Fictions? ( Skutečnosti a fikce). Meyerova jasnozřivá myšlenka, že fotografie musí pracovat s novými technologiemi, aby byla schopná přežít, stále ovlivňuje nové fotografy a fotografické školy po celém světě. Jeho přístup nicméně vznáší otázky morálnosti, autentičnosti a autorských práv; otázky, jenž se skrývají za myšlenkou pozměňování a přetváření fotografií za účelem vyjádření svých vlastních představ.
