2023 - English This thesis is a critical examination in a comparative perspective between Plato and Aristotle, paying special emphasis about functions of a state between those two authors deriving knowledge from their own literature as well as other contemporary authors nowadays. This thesis natural goal is to provide its readers a comprehensive idea about a craddle of democracy in Athens that shaped western political thought paying special attention between those two authors and their ideas about proper functions of a state. Then I provide my valuable insights about the topic, considering similarities, differences and my opinion. The Athenian state, as it existed in ancient Athens, was one of the earliest and most influential examples of democracy in the history of Western civilization. The functions of the Athenian state can be understood through various institutions and mechanisms that governed different aspects of society and governance It is important to note that while Athens was a democracy, it was not a modern representative democracy. The functions of the state were largely carried out by a small subset of the population-free male citizens. Additionally, Athens was just one city-state in ancient... po Slovensky Táto Bakalárska práca je kritický výskum z komparatívneho hľadiska medzi Platónom a Aristotelom prikláňajúc špeciálny dôraz na funkcie štátu medzi týmito dvoma autormi, získavajúc vedomosti z literárnych diel samotných autorov, alebo aj iných relevantných akademikov v súčasnosti. Ultimátnym cieľom tejto Bakalárskej práce je poskytnúť jej čitateľom rozsiahlu ideu o kolíske demokracie v Antických Aténach, ktorá vyformovala západný politický prúd, prikláňajúc informácie vyššie spomenutých pánov Platóna a Aristotela a ich ideálnych funkcií štátu. Potom pripojím svoju ruku k dielu a poskytnem hodnotnú diskusiu na danú tému, zohľadňujúc podobnosti rozdiely a moje vlastné názory. Aténsky mestský štát ako existoval v Antickom Grécku, bol jeden z prvých a najviac ovplyvňujúcich príkladov demokracie v histórií západnej civilizácie. Funkcie Aténske mestského štátu môžu byť pochopené pomocou rôznych inštitúcií a mechanizmov, ktoré vládli rôznym aspektom spoločnosti a vlády. Je nutné spomenúť, že zatiaľ čo Atény boli demokratické, tak to nebola forma priamej demokracie akú poznáme v dvadsiatom prvom storočí. Vliv vývoje technologie válčení na teorii spravedlivé války

2023 - English Teorie či tradice spravedlivé války je jedním z nejstarších filozofických konceptů, jehož počátky sahají až do středověku. Stále však existují oblasti, které nejsou dostatečně prozkoumány, zejména pokud jde o moderní válku a technologický vývoj. Ačkoli je výzkum tohoto tématu dodnes poměrně skoupý, řada badatelů se shoduje na tom, že teorii spravedlivé války je třeba modifikovat, aby zůstala platným etickým rámcem pro vysvětlení vojenských konfliktů. Výzkumnou otázkou této práce je, jaký vliv má rozvoj válečných technologií na teorii spravedlivé války. Pro zodpovězení této otázky byla zvolena forma výzkumného designu případové studie, přičemž jako tato případová studie bude použit druhý konflikt v Náhorním Karabachu. Práce dochází k závěru, že základní principy teorie spravedlivé války jsou skutečně ovlivněny rozvíjející se válečnou technologií a je nutná další revize teorie, aby byla kompatibilní s rychlým tempem rozvoje válečné technologie. Od roku 2010 začala využívat své schopnosti tvrdé síly k prosazování svých zájmů v zahraničí prostřednictvím angažovanosti v Iráku, Sýrii, Libyi a Somálsku. Ale Irák a Sýrie mají pro Ankaru zvláštní význam ve srovnání s ostatními scénami, kterých se účastní. Hlavní motivací politiky Ankary v Iráku a Sýrii je boj proti přítomnosti PKK v těchto dvou zemích, protože tato skupina představuje významnou hrozbu pro tureckou územní celistvost. V tomto ohledu má Türkiyeova angažovanost v Iráku a Sýrii hlubší důvody a je intenzivnější. Přesto události, jako byla invaze do Iráku v roce 2003 a vypuknutí syrské občanské války v roce 2011, oba destabilizovaly. Tato destabilizace posílila PKK a umožnila Íránu zvýšit svůj vliv na ně. Tato práce se zabývá opatřeními, která přijalo Türkiye k zachování své národní bezpečnosti proti přítomnosti PKK v Iráku a Sýrii a také íránskou angažovanost v těchto dvou zemích po jejich destabilizaci. 2023 - English Conservatism and political apologies share a paradoxical relationship, commonly viewed as contradictory, yet upon closer inspection reveal more similarities than expected. This apparent contradiction stems primarily from the varying interpretations and applications of these concepts across different academic disciplines and areas of discourse. Existing interpretations, such as Michael Cunningham's claim that conservatism is more compatible with political apologies than other major western ideologies, are based on broad assumptions. This thesis expands on Cunningham's findings by adopting an intersectional approach to scrutinize the concepts of conservatism and political apologies, in particular within the context of Canadian parliamentary speeches. The thesis answers: are we or are we not able to conceptually locate political apologies within conservatism? Whatever the answer might be to this first question, can we find empirical evidence of that conceptual relationship in a real world context? Obchodní vztahy mezi USA a Čínou během Trumpova presidentství

2023 - English This thesis will analyse the impact of Donald Trump as the President of the United States on trade with China during his office, comparing it to Barack Obama and Joseph Biden's terms. The paper will look at both the political and economic consequences of Trump's actions and decisions, together with the response to them from the Chinese side. The Trade War, together with other Trump's economic decisions towards Asia, resulted in tensions which led to a partial loss of the United States' position in that region and a worsening of relations with China. With the help of the comparative analysis method, the research concludes that Trump had an enormous impact on trade with China but the same external factors as Covid-19 also heavily influenced it. The paper argues that the political ideas which each President adopts were also one of the primary reasons for changes in the trade, both positive and negative. The person in charge of the state is pushing the trade relationship in one way or another, even if he does not possess complete control of the economics. Je ESG faktorem odolnosti pro akciové výnosy firem během krize? Důkazy z Evropy během pandemie covid-19

2023 - English The goal of this thesis was to examine whether high ESG performance serves as a resiliency factor for company stock returns during times of crisis. Using a DID estimator for 3 different regions and treatment timings, I find that high ESG performance did serve as a resiliency factor for company stock returns in the short term during the covid-19 pandemic, with high-ESG firms having 1.125-4.785% higher stock excess log returns compared to low-ESG firms over a 15 day period. This is probably a result of their lower perceived riskiness. I also find this effect is primarily driven by the S pillar and for European companies, by firms belonging to the Financial and Healthcare industries. In the long term, I find that the effect reverses and ESG becomes a negative factor, which I believe is caused by investors starting to seek riskier investments again. Finally, for European and American firms, I find the effect of a high score in the G pillar is negative even in normal times. Cílem této práce bylo zkoumat, zda vysoký výkon v oblasti ESG slouží jako faktor odolnosti pro výnosnost akcií firem během krizí. Použitím DID estimá- toru pro 3 různé regiony a časování treatmentů jsem zjistil, že vysoký výkon v oblasti ESG skutečně sloužil jako faktor odolnosti pro výnosnost akcií ve krátkodobém horizontu během pandemie covid-19, přičemž firmy s vysokým ESG měly o 1,125 až 4,785 % vyšší přebytečné logaritmické výnosy akcií ve srovnání s firmami s nízkým ESG během 15 dnů. Toto je pravděpodobně důsledek jejich nižší vnímané rizikovosti. Zároveň jsem zjistil, že tento efekt je poháněn především pilířem S a pro evropské společnosti zejména finančnick- ými a zdravotnickými firmami. V delším období jsem zjistil, že se tento efekt obrací a ESG se stává negativním faktorem. Věřím, že důvodem pro tento jev jsou preference investorů, kteří opět začínají vyhledávat rizikovější investice. Finálně jsem zjistil, že pro evropské a americké firmy je efekt vysokého skóre v pilíři G negativní i během normálního období. 2023 - English Protists and prokaryotes live in the natural environment in complex microbial communities whose members interact with each other. These communities consist of a few to many species that interact with each other in many ways such as predation/prey, ecto/endosymbiosis, parasitism, modulation of development or behaviour and harmful algicidal/bactericidal interactions, resulting in a complex network of interactions that influence structure of the microbial community as well as metabolism and behaviour of present species. This bachelor thesis is an overview of the interactions between free-living protists and prokaryotes within microbial communities, excluding well-studied interactions such as predation, parasitism, and ecto/endosymbiosis, while focusing on the diversity of lesser- known interactions, highlighting their importance and future research opportunities. Prvoci a prokaryota žijí v přirozeném prostředí jako součást komplexních mikrobiálních společenstev, jejichž členové spolu vzájemně interagují. Komunity se mohou skládat z několika málo nebo i mnoho druhů, které spolu interagují mnoha různými způsoby, jako například můžeme zmínit vztahy predátor/kořist ekto/endosymbiózu, parazitismus, ovlivnění vývoje nebo chování interakčního partnera či škodlivé baktericidní či algicidní interakce, vedoucí k vzniku složité sítě vztahů, které ovlivňují strukturu mikrobiálního společenstva, jakož i metabolismus a chování v něm přítomných druhů. Tato bakalářská práce si klade za cíl poskytnout ucelený přehled interakcí mezi volně žijícími prvoky a prokaryoty v mikrobiálních společenstvech s výjimkou dobře prozkoumaných interakcí jako jsou predace, ekto/endosymbióza a parazitismus. Práce je zaměřená na méně známé interakce, jejich význam a nastiňuje možnosti dalšího výzkumu.
