Robustness of the iid test based on the correlation integral

2006 - English Kočenda (2001) zavedl nový test pro nelineární závislosti v časových řadách založený na korelačním integrálu. Podstata tohoto testu je odhadnout rozměr korelace pomocí integrace přes různé pomocné parametry. Avšak nechává neprozkoumanou možnost, když chce někdo použít test pro identifikaci nelineárních struktur v ne-normálních datech. Využívajíc Monte Carlo studie ukazujeme, že nelinearita vede k přemíře odmítnutí nulové hypotézy ze dvou důvodů: 1) data nemají nezávislou identickou distribuci, 2) data jsou nenormální. Je ukázáno, že dokonce velmi malá odchylka od normality může vést k odmínutí nulové hypotézy a tudíž špatnému závěru. Bootstrap metoda je revidována a je ukázano, že pomáhá předcházet nadměrnému zamítání hypotézy, navíc síla testu se významně zvýšuje. Kočenda (2001) introduced the test for nonlinear dependencies in time series data based on the correlation integral. The idea of the test is to estimate the correlation dimension by integrating over a range of proximity parameter. However, there is an unexplored avenue if one wants to use the test to identify nonlinear structure in non-normal data. Using Monte Carlo studies we show that non-normality leads to over-rejection of the null hypothesis due to two reasons: first, the data are not iid; and second, the data are nonnormal. It is shown that even very small deviation from normality could lead to a rejection of the null hypothesis and hence wrong conclusion. The bootstrap method is revisited and it is shown that it helps to avoid the over-rejection problem, moreover the power of the test increases by a significant amount. We also give a brief overview of the available data and analyses in the Czech Republic and present new gender wage gap decompositions for the Czech enterprise sector in 2004. V tomto přehledu poskytujeme diskusi ohledně různých dimenzí relativní pozice žen na trzích práce a technik, které jsou používány v empirické ekonomické literatuře k porozumění zdrojů pozorovaných rozdílů mezi pohlavími.
