High-Volume Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash Concrete.
Reiterman, P.; Holčapek, O.; Krausová, A.; Šyc, Michal; Keppert, M.
2017 - English
About 50% of Municipal Solid Waste is incinerated (MSWI) in Europe what represent ca. 50 Mt/a of MSWI bottom ash (BA). Bottom ash contains several marketable components (iron scrap, non-ferrous metals, glass) which can by separated from the main BA stream and placed on the market with secondary sources. The resting material is, by its composition and properties, similar to natural aggregates and can be used in this way. The influence of metals separation form BA on its behaviour in concrete was tested by using BA from Praha Malešice Waste-to-Energy Plant. Particle size fractions 4/8 and 8/16 mm of this BA can be used as aggregates in concrete up to 50 vol. % of given fraction without any significant loss of concrete strength. The combination of valuable component separation form BA and recycling of the rest portion as aggregates feature promising way of BA management reducing the amount of BA to be landfilled to minimum. Keywords: concrete; MSWI bottom ash; recycling Available at various institutes of the ASCR

39M-IMMEDIATE Research Report: Remarks on Repeatability Experiments and Perspective Exploitation of MAE Pt/C\nElectrocatalysts.
Kaluža, Luděk; Gulková, Daniela; Soukup, Karel
2016 - English
The 36-39 months of the projekt solution were devoted to summarize aspects of the most perspective results on Pt/C electrocatalysts preparation to focus on industrial expoitation. Chellenges of Pt dispersion in the Pt/C were compared with preliminary outcomes from volumetric determination of hydrogen adsorption. Partition Coefficients Octanol-water of Selected (–)-Menthol-Substituted Chiral Ionic Liquids.
Andresová, Adéla; Feder-Kubis, J.; Florianová, M.; Basarabová, B.; Čubová, K.; Bendová, Magdalena
2016 - English
Octanol-water partition coefficients, log P, may be considered as one of the indicators for the tendency to bioaccumulation. For this reason, log P was measured as a function of the alkyl chain length on the cation for selected species of the 1–[(1R, 2S, 5R)-(–)-menthoxymethyl]-3-alkylimidazolium chloride ionic liquid series. The data were processed by means of mathematical gnostics to evaluate the relationship between the structure of the studied ionic liquids and log P. Keywords: ionic liquids; partition coefficients octanol-water; mathematical gnostics Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Planet Earth – Global Batch Bioreactor.
Hanika, Jiří; Šolcová, Olga; Kaštánek, František
2016 - English
Planet Earth, precisely speaking its surface shell, might be considered as a huge, multiphase, batch, biochemical reactor heated by Sun, whose energy is a unique resource. The Sun ensures our earthly life uncondicionally; moreover, it compensated the heat losses of the land, water and ice by radiation emitted from the Earth surface to its surrounding space at night. It is evident that in this macro-reactor the complex transport phenomena occurs in phases;involving mass, heat and momentum. Obviously such a responsive batch system can be only limited by resouces of carbon materials utilized in energy produstion for industrial and chemical processes. Keywords: bioreactor; raw materials; global batch system Available at various institutes of the ASCR

IR Laser CVD OF Nanodisperse Ge-Si-Sn Alloys Obtained by Dielectric Breakdown of GeH4/SiH4/SnH4 Mixtures
Křenek, Tomáš; Bezdička, Petr; Murafa, Nataliya; Šubrt, Jan; Pola, Josef
2015 - English
Nowadays, great attention is devoted to Ge-Si-Sn ternary system, because Si1-x-yGexSny provides the potential of band gap engineering and tuning of the optical properties. IR laser irradiation of equimolar gaseous GeH4 + SiH4 + SnH4 + Ar mixture results in simultaneous decomposition of all three compounds and it allows deposition of nanostructured solid film. Analysis of the films by FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy revealed crystalline nanobodies of pure beta-Sn and crystalline nanoobjects of Ge1-x-ySixSny embedded in an amorphous metastable Ge-Si-Sn alloy. This process allows co-decomposition of all silicon, germanium and tin hydrides which is caused by combination of infrared multiple photon dissociation of absorbing silane and currently proceeding LIDB. This is followed by intermixing/clustering of extruded metal atoms in the gas phase. Keywords: IR laser; thermal decomposition; Ge/Si/Sn nanoalloys Available at various institutes of the ASCR
