Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vývojem rasismu v Británii a zkoumá poválečné černošské autory. Dále analyzuje díla Benjamina Zephaniaha nejdříve báseň o vraždě Stephena Lawrence, dále pak tři jeho romány. Práce zkoumá etnické a rasové aspekty ve zmíněných dílech a ukazuje, jak tato díla přímočaře vzdělávají čtenáře o problémech moderní společnosti. The thesis deals with development of racism in Britain and examines post-war Black British Writers. It analyses several works of Benjamin Zephaniah firstly the poem about the murder of Stephen Lawrence, secondly the three novels of his. This work focuses on racial and ethnic aspects of the discussed works and tries to point out how they educate their readers about issues of a modern society in a straightforward way.

Tato práce se zabývá jedinečným románem Mansfieldské panství od velikánky britské literaturyJane Austenovéa jeho dvěma posledními filmovými adaptacemi. Cílem práce je zjistit jakým způsobem si tvůrci interpretovali příběh a jak se rozhodli přiblížit ho dnešnímu publiku. Práce analyzuje téma chudoby, otroctví, sociálního statusu a poukazuje na morální hodnoty a přísnost, které předznamenávají krutou viktoriánskou dobu. This thesis researches the unique novel Mansfield Park by the genius of British literatureJane Austenand its two latest film adaptations. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the filmmakers interpreted the story to introduce it to the modern audience. The thesis analyses themes of slavery, poverty, social status and comments on the moral and rigid qualities, which foreshadow the unforgiving Victorian era.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá rozborem témat, která se vyskytují ve třech dílech autorky Jhumpy Lahiriové, respektive Interpreter of Maladies (Tlumočník nemocí), The Namesake (Jmenovec) a In Other Words, a jejich vlivem na postavy i samotnou autorku. Témata jsou v knihách Lahiriové propojena, ale popsána z několika různých úhlů pohledu, čímž autorka dodává svým dílům rozmanitost a spletitost. Cílem práce je odhalit v dílech Lahiriové relevantní témata a určit, do jaké míry ovlivnila vývoj postav ze dvou fiktivních knih, ale také její vlastní život s ohledem na její zázemí, dvě autobiografické eseje "My Two Lives" a "Teach Yourself Italian" a memoár In Other Words. This bachelor thesis is concerned with the analysis of themes that appear in Jhumpa Lahiri's three pieces of work, respectively Interpreter of Maladies, The Namesake and In Other Words, and their influence on her characters and the author herself. In Lahiri's work, the themes are interrelated, but described from several points of view, by which the author adds to the diversity and complexity of her work. The aim of this thesis is to detect these relevant themes and determine their importance in the development of Lahiri's characters from two fictional books, as well as in her own life with respect to her background, two autobiographical essays "My Two Lives" and "Teach Yourself Italian", and her memoir In Other Words.

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu dvou románů anglické literatury, Kim a Ztracený horizont, s cílem zjistit, jakým způsobem vyobrazují Tibet a do jaké míry je v nich zachován mýtus o Tibetu. Analýza je provedena s ohledem na tři témata, která jsou poté porovnána tak, jak je autoři vyobrazují. Na závěr je zmíněn vliv děl na již existující obraz o Tibetu. This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of two novels of English literature, Kim and Lost Horizon, that aims to explore how the novels depict Tibet and to show how the myth of Tibet is perpetuated. The analysis is provided with respect to three themes that are then compared. In the last part, the thesis mentions their influence on the already existing image of Tibet.

Leptolyngbya je rod vláknitých sinic, který v současné době patří do čeledi Leptolyngbyaceae. Kvůli velmi malým rozměrům je obtížné tento rod morfologicky studovat. První část práce je literární rešerše zaměřující se na základní charakteristiku sinic, jejich taxonomii a současnou znalost studovaného rodu Leptolyngbya a jemu příbuzných rodů. V praktické části bylo zkombinováno studium morfologie a ekologie leptolyngbyoidních druhů s proteinovou/peptidovou analýzou, označovanou jako MALDI-TOF hmotnostní spektrometrie. Ze 61 vzorků vláknitých sinic 24 obsahovalo rod Leptolyngbya. Dále byly identifikovány tři příbuzné rody - Nodosilinea, Oculatella a cf. Stenomitos. MALDI-TOF analýza potvrdila podobnost v proteinovém/peptidovém složení mezi vybranými kmeny rodu Leptolyngbya. Tato data se přesně neshodovala s daty morfologickými, což může naznačovat, že morfologická diverzita zcela nepokrývá skutečnou druhovou diverzitu rodu Leptolyngbya. Další výzkum je plánován v rámci navazující diplomové práce. Leptolyngbya is a genus of filamentous cyanobacteria, currently belonging to the family Leptolyngbyaceae. Due to its extremely small dimensions, this genus is very difficult to study morphologically. In the first part of this thesis, a review focusing on the basic characteristics of cyanobacteria, their taxonomy and the current knowledge about the studied genus Leptolyngbya and its relatives was carried out. In the experimental part, the study of the morphology and ecology of leptolyngbyoid species was combined with the protein/peptide analysis called MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. From 61 collected samples of filamentous cyanobacteria, 24 contained Leptolyngbya. Three other related genera (Nodosilinea, Oculatella and cf. Stenomitos) were identified. MALDI-TOF MS confirmed the similar protein/peptide composition among selected Leptolyngbya strains. Data obtained from the protein/peptide analysis did not match the morphological data precisely which could indicate that the morphological diversity does not cover the real species diversity within the Leptolyngbya genus. Further research is planned to be carried out within the diploma thesis.

Case typology: Classification of the Bulgarian Language According to its Pronominal Case System

Tato práce se zabývá zařazením bulharského jazyka do systému typologie pádů. Na začátku je zmíněn popis sytému typologie a jeho rozdělení na jazyky s bohatým pádovým systémem (čeština, slovenština, polština atd.) a jazyky se systémem pádů zájmen (angličtina, dánština, švédština, holandština). Dále se tato práce zabývá krátkým popisem systému zájmen v bulharském jazyce, vývoj jazyka a práci nejvýznamnějších bulharských lingvistů. Následuje zařazení bulharštiny do systému typologie pádů tím, že srovnává určité aspekty s jazyky se systémem pádů zájmen, a to: forma predikátových zájmen, recipročních zájmen, porovnávacích předmětů, koordinace, elipsy, dislokace a identity. Na závěr je představen online dotazník o tom, která forma zájmen je více preferována. Výsledky dotazníku a komentáře k nim jsou uvedené v poslední kapitole. Dotazník a výsledky jsou představené v apendixu v bulharštině i přeložené do angličtiny. This thesis deals with the categorization of the Bulgarian language in the Case typology system. It begins with a description of the Case Typology system and its subdivisions - Rich case (Czech, Slovak, Polish etc.) and Pronominal case languages (English, Danish, Swedish, Dutch). Then it deals with the short description of the pronominal system in Bulgarian, its most recent development and some of the work of most prominent Bulgarian linguists. It goes on to categorize Bulgarian by comparing it to the Pronominal case languages in several aspects: predicate pronouns, coordination, ellipsis, dislocation, comparative objects and reciprocal pronouns and identity. Finally, a conducted online survey about which default pronoun form is more preferred. Its results are presented in the final chapter, along with commentaries. These are presented in the appendix both in Bulgarian and in a translated form in English.

Charakteristika: Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo zjistit za pomocí několika novel, jak se měnily sociální postavení mužů a žen v Americké předměstské literatuře. Předměstí jsou svým způsobem izolovaná kultura s vlastními kulturními a ekonomickými aspekty. V románech Babbitt a The Stepford Wives společně s krátkým příběhem The Swimmer mohou být tyto aspekty a změny pozorovány a také souvisejí s národní a geopolitickou situací. Characteristics: The aim of this thesis is to delve into the culture of American suburbs in search of a change in social norms or roles for Men and Women. Suburbia is isolated realm with its distinctive cultural and economic aspects. In the novels Babbitt and Stepford Wives along with the Short story The Swimmer such aspects may be observed and related to the geopolitical situation and national situation.

Tématem mé bakalářské práce je možná kategorizace převyprávění jako formy literární adaptace. Téma převyprávění analyzuji na základě údajů, které byly publikovány v díle Julie Sandersové a Lindy Hutcheonové, zabývající se studiem adaptace a apropriace. Dále dané téma analyzuji na základě mýtu jako literárního motivu, o kterém pojednávám na základě prací Josepha Campbella, Clauda Lévi-Strausse a Williama Bascoma, kterých zaměřením je zejména analýza mytologie a mýtu. O daném tématu potom diskutuji při ohledu na "Severskou mytologii" Neila Gaimana a "Prozaickou Eddu" Snorriho Sturlusona. The theme of my thesis is the possibility of categorizing retelling as a form resultant of the literary process of adaptation. I analyse the theme on the basis of data published in the work of Julie Sanders and Linda Hutcheon, who employ themselves with the study of adaptation, and of appropriation. Furthermore, the theme is analysed on the basis of mythical motif, which is discussed on the basis of the work of Joseph Campbell, Claude Lévi-Strauss, and William Bascom, whose works discuss and analyse mythology. The theme is then discussed with regard to Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology, and Snorri Sturluson's The Prose Edda.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vyobrazením starých a mladých v pozdějších dílech Hanifa Kureishiho - "Tělo", Vůbec nic, Poslední slovo, Něco vám povím a "Země starých". Cílem této práce je analyzovat, charakterizovat a porovnat skupiny starých a mladých na základě toho, jak jsou popsány v Kureishiho dílech. Staří, stejně jako mladí, budou porovnáni mezi jednotlivými díly a následně srovnáni s druhou skupinou. Očekávaným výsledkem této bakalářské práce je vysoká podobnost mezi zástupci stejné skupiny a odlišnosti mezi dvěmi skupinami. This bachelor thesis is concerned with the portrayal of the old and the young in Hanif Kureishi's later work - "The Body", The Nothing, The Last Word, Something To Tell You and "The Land of the Old". The aim of this thesis is to analyze, characterize and compare the groups of the old and the young based on how they are portrayed in Kureishi's writing. The old, as well as the young, will be compared between the individual works and then compared to the other group. The expected result of this bachelor thesis is high similarity between representatives of the same group, and differences between the two groups.

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá vyjádření kategorie určenosti "definiteness" v anglickém, českém a čínském jazyce. Tyto jazyky byly vybrány proto, že zastupují dvě různé jazykové skupiny - jazyky, které mají členy (angličtina) a jazyky, které členy nemají (čeština a čínština). Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit, jak se do češtiny a čínštiny překládají anglické jmenné fráze, které obsahující člen určitý. This bachelor thesis investigates the expression of definiteness in three different languages, English, Czech and Chinese. These languages were chosen because they represent two different language groups - languages with articles (English) and languages without articles (Czech and Chinese). The aim of the thesis was to find out how Czech and Chinese translate noun phrases containing the English definite article 'the'.
