Bending of Beam with Free Ends on Non-linear Subsoil
Sysala, Stanislav
2010 - English
A semi-coercive problem with a beam on a unilateral elastic subsoil of Winkler type is investigated in the contribution. Firstly, the existence, the uniqueness and the continuous dependence on data of the problem solution are discussed. Secondly, the problem is approximated by the finite element method, where the subsoil is replaced by insulated "springs" due to a numerical quadrature. The relations between the original problem and the family of approximated problems are introduced. Thirdly, suitable numerical methods of Newton type are introduced. The convergence analysis of the methods is investigated. The dependence of the methods on the discretization parameter and the load is also discussed. And finally, some of the theoretical results are illustrated on numerical examples. Keywords: beam on subsoil; non-linearity; semi-coercivity Available at various institutes of the ASCR

2010 - English
Eurorural '10 conference on European countryside under globalization. It is the 2nd of Moravian rural conferences organised by the Department of Applied and Landscape Ecology, Faculty of Agronomy, Mendel University in Brno. The aims of the conference are as follows: to map European rural research and particular interests of investigators, to gain a space for presentation of contemporary knowledge about rural research, to continue in the tradition of international conferences dedicated to rural problems, to support intra-personal contacts among experts of different disciplines dealing with rural problems, to present South Moravian rural landscape. The conference is aimed at relatively complex view of rural problems from different viewpoints (ecology, geography, demography, sociology, economy, territorial planning), less at research of specific problems in detail. Seismic Loading of Underground Bridge above Medieval Mine
Knejzlík, Jaromír; Lednická, Markéta; Kaláb, Z.
2010 - English
Problems with high seismic load in the medieval Jeroným mine working were generated also by heavy trucks on the road above the mine. Because damages of road occurred above the near shallow mine spaces, the road was supported by underground bridge. This paper describes experimental seismic measurements that was targeted the traffic loading of underground spaces. Keywords: seismological measurement; seismic loading; medieval mine Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Testing of Nozzles
Foldyna, Josef; Sitek, Libor; Ščučka, Jiří; Klich, Jiří; Hlaváček, Petr
2010 - English
Based on the request made by the company NET Ltd. Staré Město pod Sněžníkem, tests of quality of nozzles for generation of high-speed water jet were performed at the Department of material disintegration of the Institute of Geonics AS CR, v. v. i., in Ostrava. Three nozzles provided by NET were tested. The nozzles were marked as nozzle CKM – A, nozzle CKM – B, and nozzle ACMK. The nozzle quality was evaluated by the determination of their discharge coefficient at various operating pressures and by visual inspection of the quality of the nozzle and the water jet. Keywords: nozzles; high-speed water jet; discharge coefficient Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Multiscale modelling of geomatrials and iterative solvers
Blaheta, Radim; Byczanski, Petr; Harasim, Petr
2009 - English
The knowledge of microstructure in combination with properties of the constituents and mathematical modelling can be used for investigation of the properties of geomaterials at application scale. We investigate problems with both deterministic knowledge of microstructure, derived from X-ray CT scans, and stochastic one. The stochastic generation is also used for a systematic study of robustness of iterative solvers, particularly for Schwarz methods for PDE problems discretized by mixed FEM. Worst scenario method and other approaches to uncertainty
Harasim, Petr
2009 - English
A great many problems in natural, technical, and social sciences can be solved by means of suitable mathematical models. Since the input data of mathematical models is uncertain, the output values are also encubered by uncertainty. It is our goal to evaluate the uncertainty of output data if the uncertainty of input data is somehow speci ed. Here, we con- ne ourselves only to a brief description of stochastic methods, a fuzzy set approach, and the worst scenario method. Metoda nejhoršího scénáře a jiné přístupy k nejistotě Problémy vznikající v přírodních, technických a společenských vědách lze řešit pomocí vhodných matematických modelů. Protože vstupní data těchto modelů jsou nejistá, nejisté jsou i výstupní hodnoty. Modified semismooth Newton Method: Numerical example
Byczanski, Petr; Sysala, Stanislav
2009 - English
The modified semismooth Newton method is introduced in this contribution. The modification is based on a ``damping" in each Newton iteration. The damping coefficient are computed by a minimisation problem. The method is described on an abstract problem with the main convergence results. Then it is applied to solving an elasto-plastic problem with hardening and illustrated on a numerical example. V příspěvku je studována nehladká Newtonova metoda s tlumením. Metoda je popsána a její konvergence analyzována na abstraktní úloze. Pomocí zkoumané metody je řešena úloha elasto-plasticity. Některé teoretické výsledky jsou pak ilustrovány na numerickém příkladě. Keywords: Newton-like method; damping; elasto-plasticity Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Thermal behaviour of selected Czech sandstones
Plevová, Eva
2009 - English
Selected Czech sandstone samples were determined by thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and FT- IR spectroscopy (FT-IR). These methods were used for determination of mineral composition in Czech sandstone samples. The texture and spatial orientation was determined by optical microscopy. Obtained data were confronted with data from thermomechanical analysis (TMA). Keywords: TG/DTA; Czech sandstone; thermomechanical analysis Available at various institutes of the ASCR
