Critical shear values of extruded polymer blends

The onset of flow instabilities (encountered during extrusion of polymer melts) corresponds to the flow conditions when the critical shear stresses or the critical shear rates are attained. These critical values were experimentally determined for two cases of polymer blends. Pumping in hydraulic capsule pipeline

Capsules used in hydraulic pipeline (HCP) are solid bodies comparable in proportion with pipe diameter. Capsules cannot pass through ordinary pumps, special procedure and/or equipment has to be used for their injection and pumping. The first way is based on a bypass scheme. It's advantage is high efficiency and operational pressure. The second way is to use linear motors, the third is special jet pumps designed for HCP. Advantage of jet pumps is continuous movement of capsules and small demand on space. But only a lower efficiency and pressure increment can be reached. Lateral dispersion on solid particles in water flow

The paper presents the results of investigation of solid particle motion over rough bed in an open channel flow. The turbulence characteristics of water flow were performed by means of LDA, the particle motion was analysed by a video camera.
