The possibilities of reducing energy consumption for the preparation of hot water by suitable switching of the heat pump
Rimbala J.; Kyncl J.
2020 - English
The article deals with the possibilities of reducing energy consumption for the preparation of hot water by suitable switching of the air-to-water heat pump according to the expected time course of the outdoor air temperature. Higher temperature of the medium from which we pump heat always leads to an improvement of the heating factor. The article describes an idealized model taking into account two water storage The consumed electrical energy is always evaluated at the worst possible switching time of the heat pump, at a fixed switching time and with optimal switching. The considered procedure may be suitable for buildings with high hot water consumption, such as hospitals, retirement homes, or for small industrial enterprises. Keywords: Heat Pump; COP; Water Storage Tank; Energy Consumption; Energy Savings; Optimized Switching Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Calibration of unipolar high current impulses for resistance spot welding
Hlaváček J.; Kněnický M.; Draxler K.
2020 - English
Requirement from practice is the need for quality and precise measurement of unipolar high current impulses, which are applied in resistance spot welding. The reason is the high dependence of weld quality on the shape and energy of applied current impulses. A new calibration method for this current impulses without disconnecting the current circuit of a resistance welding machine is required. Review and selection of suitable noninvasive current sensing devices have been made. Frequency analysis of typical unipolar current welding impulses was performed as well. The following measurements of chosen sensing devices with Hall sensors and special magnetoresistance sensor verified the necessary frequency bandwidth of the sensors. Verification measurements of unipolar current impulses were carried out as well. Finally, the uncertainty of the calibration method with a noninvasive current sensing device has been determined. Keywords: Current impulse; current measurement; impulse measurement; calibration; precise measurement; unipolar impulse; welding Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Applicability of Superabsorbent Polymer as a Protective Carrier in the Bio-based Self-healing Concrete
Schreiberová H.; Fládr J.; Šeps K.; Trtík T.; Prošek Z.; Kohoutková A.
2020 - English
Concrete with an enhanced self-healing ability caused by metabolic activity of certain bacteria has been widely studied in the recent decades. This paper deals with two of the major drawbacks which have been identified in the previous research – the inability of bacteria to survive the crystalline pressures in the hardening concrete and the need for a sufficient water supply for its metabolism. In order to solve these issues, in the current study, superabsorbent polymers (SAP) are applied to standard cement paste as a means of protection of the bacteria and also as a poten-tial water reservoir. To prove the SAP applicability in the bio-based concrete, cement composite specimens with SAP, specimens with SAP and a biological self-healing agent and reference spec-imens were prepared. Subsequently, the sealing of artificially introduced cracks was recorded and the influence of the SAP addition on the materials self-healing ability was determined. Keywords: self-healing; concrete; bacteria; SAP; crack-sealing Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

RISK MANAGEMENT AT TECHNICAL FACILITIES DE-COMMISSIONING AND SITE REVITALISATION
Procházková D.; Procházka J.
2020 - English
Book is dedicated to the risk management of the process that includes: putting out the technical facilities from the operation; carrying out the dismantlement of fittings, constructions and buildings; transport of usable fittings, materials and waste, and in need case after their decontamination in the site; cleaning up the released territory, and in need case to perform its decontamination; and passing the released territory in the next civil use. This process is very important to ensure the long-term security and development of humans. The way of problems solving is based on at the simultaneously preferred risk management concept, i.e., the risk management targeted to the terri-tory safety, and in particular operations, the safety is put above to the reliability. The present publication “Risk management at technical facilities decommission-ing and site revitalisation“ summarizes problems and shows methods and proce-dures for their solution based on system concept and present findings and experi-ences from practice obtained by special research. It summarizes results of specific research performed in project “Řízení rizik a bezpečnost složitých technolog-ických objektů (RIRIZIBE)“ CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16 _018/000”. Keywords: risk; safety; coexistence; technical facility; decommissioning; devontamination; revitalization Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Risk management at technical facilities type and site selection
Procházková, Dana; Procházka, Jan
2020 - English
Technical facilities are created by human activities, and their goal is to provide products or services for the humans´ lives. The technical facilities architecture is the object or the network. Each type of technical facility has its own specifics; e.g. significant differ-ences exist between the control of stable technical facilities and mobile technical facil-ities. Stable technical facilities affect their surroundings during the whole life cycle, and therefore, their types and locations need to fulfil requirements so they might not seri-ously damage territory and its inhabitants. The control of object and network technical facilities has also its specifics. Technical facilities belong to the administration of the various sectors and include phys-ical, cyber, organizational and social systems, i.e. individual devices, machines, com-ponents, systems, or the entire production or the service units, and also personnel and way of organization. Large technical facilities represent the systems of systems, i.e. a number of open and mutually interconnected open systems, and therefore, their be-haviour is dynamic and depends on a number of factors. The problem-solution way is based on the simultaneously preferred concept, in which the safety is preferred over the reliability. Management of technical facilities´ safety is not easy and requires the application of specific engineering tools for coping with the expected risks. Due to complex architec-ture of majority of present technical facilities, their behaviours are sometimes unfore-seeable, and therefore, special engineering tools need to be used at their type selec-tion and sitting. In the past, the attention was not overly given to type selection and location of technical facility. Therefore, some technical facilities projects have not been completed, or after completing their operation have not met the expectations, or even they began to make serious problems, which meant substantial economic losses. Therefore, the book “Risk management at technical facilities type and site selection” deals with the problem of specification of the type of technical facilities and their location in the terri-tory. It summarizes results of specific research performed in project “Řízení rizik a bezpečnost složitých technologických objektů (RIRIZIBE)“ CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/ 16 _018/000”. Since, the deciding body on the subject is the public administration, there are in the book for it produced the tools that will help it to choose the appropriate type of technical facility, which ensures the expected service or products, and to place it in the territory so that, the coexistence of the technical facility with its surroundings may have been during the technical facility life cycle. It goes on the system for decision support and the risk management plan. Available in digital repository of ČVUT.

Intelligent suspension system with two-degree-of-freedom hybrid mass dampers
Alsoufi Y.
2020 - English
The presented model discusses the advantages and drawbacks of combining three concepts in vibration suspension. Dual-Loop Controller (DLC) with two-degree-of-freedom Hybrid Mass Damper (HMD) attached to a single degree of freedom primary system is studied. The benefits of using the adaptive actuators instead of classical ones in terms of reducing the amount of energy required in active part are mentioned in this design by adding feed-forward Deep Neural Network (DNN) to the primary system. The proposed model aims to increase the performance of damping, reduce energy consumption with achieving the fail-safe behavior of dampers. Keywords: dynamic vibration absorber; active suspension system; hybrid vibration absorber; deep learning; deep neural network; dual loop controller Available in digital repository of ČVUT.
