Mapování změn v optické a magnetooptické odezvě tenkých vrstev Ni-Mn-Ga napříč martensitickou transformací a relaxací pnutí

2024 - English This thesis studies optical and magneto-optical responses of thin epitaxial Ni-Mn- Ga films prepared by magnetron sputtering. The relative permittivity tensor spectra were computed from the spectroscopic ellipsometry data measured both without the external magnetic field and in the out-of-plane magnetic field configuration. For one of the thin film samples, measurements across martensitic transformation were performed and temperature-hysteresis was observed. The analysis of the obtained spectra for thickness- varied series of samples clearly demonstrated the influence of substrate-induced strain and revealed a strong correlation between the out-of-plane lattice parameter and the properties of the obtained spectra. 1 Tato diplomová práce se zabývá studiem optické a magnetooptické odezvy tenkých epitaxních vrstev Ni-Mn-Ga, které byly připraveny pomocí magnetronového naprašování. Byl proveden výpočet spekter tenzoru relativní permitivity na základě elipsometrických dat získaných z měření bez přítomnosti magnetického pole a měření s magnetickým polem v polární konfiguraci. Pro jednen ze vzorků tenkých vrstev byla provedena série měření napříč martensitickou transformací a bylo pozorováno hysterezní chování. Všichni jsme metamoderní: Úvod do metamodernismu

2024 - English This work will provide a genealogy of the metamodern condition. The postmodern sentiment is by no means gone, but it has transformed so much at this point that the vague postmodern label has become obsolete. Indeed, the cultural sphere is now dealing with a whole set of urgent social, political and economic realities, spurred on by climatic, financial and geopolitical crises, that postmodernism could never seriously handle. In the course of this paper, I will examine the modernist and post-modernist streams of thought that have resulted in the emergence of metamodernism, which somehow counter-intuitively combines modernist sincerity with post-postmodernist irony. Moreover, I will assess this stream of thought through the lens of Actor-network theory, as outlined by Bruno Latour. In the end, I hope to demonstrate that metamodernism offers something that postmodernism, disappointed from the failure of modernist projects, never could: hope. Ačkoliv postmoderní sentiment ještě nevymizel, jeho podoba se proměnila do takové míry, že vágní nálepka postmodernismu se dnes již jeví jako zastaralá. Kulturní sféra se dnes zabývá celou škálou urgentních sociálních, politických a ekonomický skutečností, které jsou dále poháněny klimatickými, finančními a geopolitickými krizemi, na které již postmodernismus nemá odpověď. V průběhu této práce se zaměřím na modernistické a postmodernistické myšlenky, které vyústily v metamodernismus, v němž se možná neintuitivně skloubí modernistická upřímnost a postmodernistická ironie. Dále se zaměřím na rozbor těchto myšlenek prostřednictvím teorie sítí aktérů, navrženou Brunem Latourem. V závěru se pokusím demonstrovat, že metamodernismus poskytuje něco, co postmodernismus ve svém zklamání z modernistických projektů nikdy nabídnout nedokázal: naději. 2024 - English The study of artificial active matter has significantly intensified in recent years due to its potential practical applications and promises to understand living organisms' in- teractions and collective behaviour. The research is done on all levels - experimental, theoretical, and numerical. This thesis presents a numerical simulation approach based on solving partial differential equations from the continuum mechanics framework. The results obtained can be used to predict the dynamics and thermodynamics of the system or serve as input data for stochastic simulations. Using this approach, it is also possible to simulate actual laboratory experiments numerically. 1 V posledních letech se významně zintenzivnil výzkum umělé aktivní hmoty pro její potenciální praktické využití a příslib pochopení interakcí a kolektivního chování živých organismů. Výzkum je prováděn na všech úrovních - experimentální, teoretické a num- erické. Tato práce představuje přístup pomocí numerických simulací založený na řešení parciálních diferenciálních rovnic pocházejících z rámce mechaniky kontinua. "Staré příběhy v novou tváří": klasické pohádky v převyprávění tří autorek

A revision allows for the "original" text to tales' problematic associations with the patriarchal and heteronormative traditions and insist tale adaptations: Anne Sexton's (1971), Olga Broumas's (1977) and Emma Donoghue's examines the authors' distinctive revisionist practices - - Klíčová slova: Pohádky, Revizionismus, Transformace, Feminismus, Poezie, Anne Sexton, Olga Broumas, Emma Donoghue Diplomová práce pojednává rozmanité způsoby, jimiž tři anglofonní autorky a představitelky tří literárních generací, Anne Sexton (1928-1974), Olga Broumas (nar. 1949) a Emma Donoghue (nar. 1969), přistupují k přetváření klasických pohádek. Zkoumané básnické i prozaické revize, jejichž kořeny lze vysledovat až k ústně tradovaným verzím tradičních pohádek, sebraných a kanonizovaných bratry Grimmy, posunují hranice literárních forem, žánrů a narativních struktur. Pojednávané autorky podtrhují multiplicitu a proměnlivý charakter těchto známých příběhů, postav a rozuzlení, čímž zpochybňují různé společenské a kulturní normy. Všechny také staví do popředí tvůrčí sílu jazyka jako takového a oživují tak literární diskurz a rozšiřují možnosti lyrické poezie, respektive narativní prózy. Pohádky bratří Grimmů mají v západní kulturní tradici podobný význam jako antický mýtus nebo biblická ikonografie. Společně tvoří kánon, který nejenže obstál ve zkoušce času, ale je i nadále konfrontován a revidován autory (a zejména autorkami) z různých míst a časových období. Pojetí "sunnitské ortodoxie" prizmatem dvou současných autorit šádhilíjského súfíjského řádu

2024 - English This thesis discusses the defining of "Sunnī orthodoxy" (The Arabic term is Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jamāʻa.) of two contemporary authorities of the Shādhilī Ṣūfī Order, one of the most important Ṣūfī orders in the Muslim world. Special attention is given to the analysis of their understanding of Islamic Theology, Law and Sufism. The first scholar is Shaykh Ali Gomaa, the previous Grand Mufti of Egypt. The second scholar is his student, Shaykh ʻAbd al-Qādir al-Ḥusayn. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter discusses the history and teachings of the Shādhilī Ṣūfī Order in general. The second chapter describes and analyses the defining and understanding of the "Sunnī orthodoxy" of Shaykh Ali Gomaa. The third chapter describes and analyses the defining and understanding of "Sunnī orthodoxy" of Shaykh ʻAbd al-Qādir al-Ḥusayn. The thesis is methodologically based on analysis and interpretation of important mediaeval and contemporary Shādhilī works, including recorded lectures, sermons, interviews etc. Interaction with pertinent academic literature also forms a crucial component of the research. Tato práce se zabývá definováním "sunnitské ortodoxie" (arabsky Ahl al-Sunna wa al- Džamáʻa) u dvou současných autorit šádhilíjského súfíjského řádu, jednoho z nejvýznamnějších súfíjských řádů v muslimském světě. Důraz je kladen na analýzu jejich chápání islámské teologie, práva a súfismu. Prvním z těchto učenců je šejch ʻAlí Džumuʻa, bývalý velký muftí Egypta. Druhým učencem je jeho žák, šejch ʻAbd al-Qádir al-Ḥusajn. Práce sestává ze tří kapitol. První kapitola se zabývá obecnou historií a učením šádhilíjského súfíjského řádu. Druhá kapitola popisuje a analyzuje definování a chápání "sunnitské ortodoxie" šejcha ʻAlího Džumuʻy. Třetí kapitola popisuje a analyzuje definování a chápání "sunnitské ortodoxie" šejcha ʻAbd al-Qádira al-Ḥusajna. Metodologicky je práce postavena na analýze a interpretaci významných středověkých i současných šádhilíjských děl, včetně záznamů přednášek, kázání, rozhovorů apod. Interakce s relevantní odbornou literaturou je rovněž důležitou součástí této práce. "Jsem zahrada černých a červených muk": Obraz mateřství v poezii Sylvie Plathové

2024 - English This diploma thesis deals with the theme of motherhood in the poetry of Sylvia Plath. The main objective of the thesis is to explore how pregnancy, childlessness, and motherhood are understood by Plath in her poetry. I show how she transposed her thoughts and experiences of maternity into it and identify the main influencing outside factors. The poetry will be studied and read from a biographical, sociocultural, and feminist standpoint. Studies of motherhood and domesticity in the United States, predominantly by Betty Friedan and Glenna Matthews, will be analyzed in order to offer a general context within which Plath created her poetry and to demonstrate how she contested the idealized perception of motherhood at the time. To understand women's writing in a male-dominated literary canon and the ways in which Plath fought back against the language and archetypes imposed on her, demystifying motherhood in the process, feminist literary studies, predominantly The Madwoman in the Attic by Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar will be consulted. Hlavním cílem této práce je prozkoumat, jak Plathová ve své poezii chápe těhotenství, bezdětnost a mateřství, ukázat, jak do ní promítá své vlastní myšlenky a zkušenosti s mateřstvím, a identifikovat hlavní ovlivňující vnější faktory. Poezie bude analyzována a čtena z biografického, sociokulturního a feministického hlediska. 2024 - English This bachelor thesis deals with the preparation of enantiopure Binol-derived phosphoric acids with different substituents at the 3,3'-position, which are typically used as Brønsted acids in enantioselective non-covalent organocatalysis. The prepared 3,3'-adamantane substituted Binol-derived phosphoric acids are planned to be used as organocatalysts. Bulky alkyl substituents at the 3,3' position have been introduced in order to compare their properties with those of phenyl substituents at the 3,3' position. The different dispersion forces between substrate and catalyst are expected when aryl and alkyl substituents are incorporated into the catalyst structure. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá přípravou enantiomerně čistých fosforečných kyselin odvozených od Binolu s různými substituenty v poloze 3,3'-, které se obvykle používají jako Brønstedovy kyseliny v enantioselektivní nekovalentní organokatalýze. Připravené 3,3'-adamantanem substituované fosforečné kyseliny odvozené od Binolu budou v budoucnu použity jako organokatalyzátory. Do polohy 3,3' byly zavedeny objemné alkylové substituenty, aby bylo možné porovnat jejich vlastnosti s vlastnostmi fenylových substituentů v těchto polohách. Trilogie Xenogenesis: Utopické dílo Octavie E. Butler

2024 - English This thesis analyses the three main characters of Octavia E. Butler's Xenogenesis trilogy - Lilith, Akin, and Jodahs, and studies each book in the trilogy in order to trace utopian elements in Butler's writing. It explores different ideas of what utopia and the utopian is, and, through this, proposes that it is the impulse of change, constant becoming, that constitutes utopian writing. The thesis states that even though Butler herself was skeptical towards the concept of utopia, her work is an example of modern utopian writing - a constant striving towards a better future through the creation of worlds that inspire and call for change. The introduction starts with the main question of the thesis: "Is Butler a utopian writer?" It focuses on the author's own approach towards utopia and her self-distancing from being labelled a utopian writer. The following part is centered on the development of the concept of "utopia" itself. It starts with the first use of the term by Thomas More in 1516, which initiated an understanding of the term as a "better place," then presents different criticisms of utopia, which point to its dystopian nature, and finishes with the modern concepts of utopia that revitalize its potential. Butler - Lilith, Akina a Jodahs - a studuje každý díl trilogie s cílem vysledovat utopické prvky v autorčině tvorbě. Dále zkoumá různé představy o tom, co je to utopie a co je utopické a na základě toho navrhuje, že právě impuls změny, neustálého stávání se (becoming), je tím, co tvoří utopické psaní. Práce tvrdí, že ačkoli sama Butler byla k pojmu "utopie" skeptická, její dílo je příkladem moderního utopického psaní, tedy neustálého usilování o lepší budoucnost prostřednictvím vytváření světů, které inspirují a vyzývají ke změně. Úvodem je položena základní otázka diplomové práce: "Lze Butler považovat za utopickou spisovatelku?". 2024 - English Kristýna Bularzová MA thesis 1 Abstract The MA thesis will focus on the representations of the concept of the American dream in Black1 American poetry. From its origins in the Declaration of Independence (in the "pursuit of happiness") the concept of the American dream has been seen as problematic, with the idea of an "unalienable right" clashing with its being mutable and fleeting and potentially out of reach. The main goal of the thesis is to demonstrate that the American dream has been present in the works of Black American poets as a potent, yet schizophrenic concept (with reference to Martin Luther King's idea of "American schizophrenic personality) for decades, and possibly centuries, and its central ambiguity and the clash of principles has remained essentially the same, only the representations vary. Analyzing poems by Black poets from the 20th century, the thesis will explore the concept of the Black American dream as a myth to which, as James Baldwin put it, "we are clinging [and] which has nothing to do with the lives we lead." The thesis is divided into two parts, incorporating not only the poetic perspective on the matter, but also the ideas on the topic by key African American thinkers from different historical periods (such as Frederick Douglass, W. Již od svých počátků v Deklaraci nezávislosti (v tzv. "honbě za štěstím") byl koncept amerického snu vnímán jako problematický a myšlenka "nezcizitelného práva" byla konfrontována vlastní proměnlivostí a pomíjivostí, která ústí ve své praktické nedosažitelnosti. Hlavním cílem práce je demonstrovat přítomnost "amerického snu" v dílech černošských básníků jakožto slibný, nicméně schizofrenní koncept s odkazem na myšlenky Martina Luthera Kinga o "americké schizofrenní osobnosti". Ústřední nejednoznačnost a střet principů zde zůstávají po desetiletí a možná i staletí v podstatě stejné a liší se pouze ve své reprezentaci.
