Numerical Simulation of Precast Concrete Panel for Airfield Pavement
Novák J.; Kohoutková A.
2019 - anglický
Numerical analysis software belong to the main tools for simulating the real behavior of various concrete structures. In comparison with experimental tests, they offer an affordable way to study the mechanical behavior of structures under various conditions. The contribution deals with a precast element of an innovative airfield pavement system which is being developed within an ongoing scientific project. The proposed system consists of a two-layer surface course of the precast concrete panels placed on a two-layer sub-base of fiber reinforced concrete with recycled aggregates. Enormous costs of full-scale experiments force to simulate the behavior of the element in a numerical analysis software using finite element method. The simulation was conducted on a nonlinear model in order to obtain such results which could fully compensate results from experiments. The main objective of the simulation was to design and optimize the reinforcement of the precast element subject to quasi-static loading from airplanes with respect to geometrical imperfections, manufacturing imperfections, tensile stress in reinforcement and crack width. The numerical simulation revealed that the precast element should be heavily reinforced to fulfill all the demands assumed. Using under-reinforced concrete elements would lead to the formation of wide cracks and cracks permanently open Klíčová slova: Precast concrete panel; pavement; numerical simulation; non-linear model; airfield Plné texty jsou dostupné v digitálním repozitáři ČVUT.

2016 - anglický
Many universities intend to obtain ORCID identifier for their researchers and to use it in their university systems, one of the most common being the university repository. University repositories are no isolated archives. They provide significant added value to the existing university information infrastructure, and their integration within the university information system is essential. The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) systematically builds integration of its repository within various subsystems of the university information system. It provides mutual advantages. The article discusses a technical and process solution to how users can obtain their ORCID identifiers through university identity management system, its distribution to the integrated university systems (such as university repository, study information system, CRIS), and the design of the optimized automated data flow and data management of ORCID identifier distribution between the entities involved without a need of frequent manual intervention. It illustrates the possibilities of integrating ORCID to university systems using ORCID APIs and advantages of synchronizing ORCID identifier to DSpace using newly developed DSpace authority control and extension of DSpace RESTful API. The synchronization processes are fully automated and they are based on Enterprise Service Bus technology. Klíčová slova: University systems ORCID integration; University data workflow; DSpace authority control; University repository integration; DSpace RESTful API Plné texty jsou dostupné v digitálním repozitáři ČVUT.

The “Child ↔ Adult” Relationship Terminology in the Tale of “The Little Gold Key or the Adventures of Burattino” by Alexei Tolstoy in French and Vietnamese
Lo-Cicero, Minh Ha
2016 - anglický
The fairy tale “The Adventures of Pinocchio” (1883) by Italian author Carlo Collodi is well known all over the world. However, there is another story for young readers adapted from “The Adventures of Pinocchio” published in 1936, and that is “The Little Gold Key or the Adventures of Burattino” by Russian writer Alexei Tolstoy. In Tolstoyʼs book, the name of Pinocchio is changed to “Burattino”, literally “wooden puppet” in Italian. As Alexei Tolstoy emphasized in “Preface” (1936), his tale was inspired by the story of Pinocchio, but “as the book (“The Adventures of Pinocchio”) got lost”, he told “each time a different story, inventing such adventures that did not exist in the original text.” “The Little Gold Key or the Adventures of Burattino” by Alexei Tolstoy, serves as the main corpus for our study on “child ↔ adult” relationship terminology expressing different positions of “partners”, such as the “inferior ↔ superior” relationship in French and Vietnamese – two entirely opposite language categories. Kinship and social relations are very hierarchical in the Asian peoplesʼ culture and traditions, such as the Vietnamese. Translating relationship expressions or terminology from French, a language which is very limited regarding personal pronouns or substitute pronouns, into Vietnamese is therefore a big challenge for translators. Klíčová slova: child (inferior) & adult (superior) relationship terminology; French / Vietnamese; The Little Gold Key or the Adventures of Burattino (Tolstoy); translation; linguistics and interculture; hierarchy; substitute pronouns Plné texty jsou dostupné v digitálním repozitáři UPCE.

2016 - anglický
Introduction and Aim: The purpose of study was to investigate the self-care defi cit of cancer patients receiving outpatient health care in Greece based on Orem’s Self-Care defi cit Nursing Theory. Methods: The sample consisted of 113 patients from home care unit and outpatient unit from 2 public oncology hospitals in Athens. The questionnaire developed by researchers based on modes of intervention according to Orem’s nursing theory which are acting or doing for others, guiding physical and psychological support, maintaining an appropriate environment and teaching. The questionnaire had dichotomy answers. Statistical analysis was done with SPSS using student‘s t-test analysis and statistical signifi cance level was set to p < 0.05. Results: The 61.9% (n = 70) of sample were female, 36.3% were aged more than 70 years, while 66.3% (n = 75) were patients of day care unit. Functional status was 39.8% stage ECOG 1. Home Care’s patients focused support needs for self-care in reporting issues such as information about the treatment (p = 0.021), economic issues (p = 0.000), and practical issues such as supply of medicine (p = 0.01), rights and insurance coverage (p = 0.000). Day care unit patients had greater self-care ability, focus on meeting emotional needs such as respect (p = 0.000), attention and care by the family (p = 0.010) and teaching for changes in the environment (p = 0.028), skills development for handling O2 (p = 0.014), lymphedema care (p = 0.045) and caring for wounds (p = 0.013). Conclusions: Awareness of patients self-care different needs by nurses, could guide the careprovided, in the context of individualized and holistic approach for greatest satisfaction. Mental health risk, safety, and the lost soul
Buckingham, Christopher; Adams, Ann; Ahmed, Abu
2016 - anglický
Introduction: People’s lives depend on mental-health problems being recognised at an early stage so that risks such as suicide and harm to others can be detected and appropriately managed. This was the motivation for the GRiST web-based decision support system. It was developed to bring mental-health expertise into the community so that people can detect risks even if they do not have specialist mental-health training themselves. Methods: The research started in 2002 using a mixture of methods, including interviews, thematic analysis represented by mind maps, focus groups, and action research, all realised within the evolving GRiST software. Results: The GRiST web version was adopted in earnest from 2010. It has now accumulated nearly one million risk assessments from practitioners in specialist mental-health services. The latest research has reached out to people in the community by providing a new self-assessment version, myGRaCE. People can use myGRaCE to help understand their own mental health problems, find out where the main issues and risks reside, and create a comprehensive report that helps them receive appropriate support. Conclusions: The paper describes the development of GRiST and how it has tried to shift the focus from organisations to the individual. Pressure to constrain risk evaluation to include only risk-specific symptoms has been resisted because the prevailing context and long-term causes are all fundamental to detecting and managing risks. The whole person has to be understood: body and soul. Klíčová slova: decision support; GRiST; mental health; myGRaCE; risk assessment Plné texty jsou dostupné v digitálním repozitáři UPCE.

Youth subculture as interaction of youth and society
Likhachova, Sviatlana
2014 - anglický
Based on the results of a sociological study in the Mogilev Region, the state and development of youth subculture as a social phenomenon are considered. The reasons for involvement in subcultural associations, sources of information about them, the positive and negative effects of participation in youth subcultures are analyzed. In modern society, we have a situation of subcultural pluralism when society is a set of co-existing ethnic, professional, religious, territorial and youth subcultures, each of which has its own view of the world, including its own system of norms and values, attitudes, beliefs and interests. The study of youth subcultures gives usa deeper understanding of young people's subjectivity. Traditionally, young people are considered as a social resource of society, the object of socialization adopting the experience of older generations. However, some approaches pay attention to the process of integration into society through conflict. It allows youth to present values that do not coincide with the dominant culture. Klíčová slova: youth subculture; subcultural trends; values and attitudes; non-formal group of youth; socialization; adaptation; integration to the society; norms; deviant behavior of youth Plné texty jsou dostupné v digitálním repozitáři UPCE.
