Photochemical vapor generation of cobalt for detection by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

Volatile species of cobalt were generated in a flow-injection system, employing a high-efficiency flow-through UV photoreactor and a formic acid based medium. Optimal generation conditions were found as 10% (v/v) formic acid and 4 mol/L ammonium formate at a flow rate of 4 ml/min.

Chemical vapor generation of cadmium for analytical atomic spectrometry

Chemical vapor generation of cadmium volatile compounds was optimized, several reaction modifiers based on inorganic salts and complexes of CrIII+, CoII+, TiIII+, TiIV+ were tested. Their use resulted in 4-5 times enhancement in sensitivity, reflected also in corresponding increase of generation efficiency and better repeatability. Generation efficiency was determined from a comparison between sensitivities obtained with chemical vapor generation and conventional solution nebulization, both simultaneously coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The identity of the generated cadmium compounds was identified.

Stanovení rychlých změn koncentrací těkavých organických sloučenin bylo provedeno využitím difúzního denuderu se stékajícím filmem kapaliny, který umožňuje odběr vzorků v časových intervalech již od 2 minut. Determination of fast changes in concentrations of volatile organic compounds was performed using wet effluent diffusion denuder, which allows collection of samples in 2-min intervals.

Kapsaicin je přírodní alkaloid vyskytující se v plodech chilli paprik, které patří k nejdůležitějším a nejrozšířenějším kořením. Za jejich popularitou stojí významné organoleptické vlastnosti (typická pálivá chuť), antioxidační či antimikrobiální účinky. Pálivost chilli paprik je hlavním důvodem jejich konzumace a z pohledu konzumenta představuje jednu z jejich nejdůležitějších charakteristik. Od toho se proto odvozuje potřeba tuto charakteristiku kvantifikovat. Míra pálivosti přímo souvisí s obsahem kapsaicinu a jemu podobných látek (kapsaicinoidů) v paprikách. Kromě potravinářství nachází kapsaicin své užití i v lesnictví (zemědělství) jako ochrana před okusem stromů zvěří. The aim of this study was to develop a simple method for evaluation of the pungency in chili peppers with a glassy carbon electrode modified using phospholipid membrane prepared from asolectin. For these purposes cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) have been used. A few different methods have been tested: direct method, transfer method on unmodified and modified electrode, using standard addition method as well as calibration curve method. A statistically significant correlations with the results of the reference HPLC method have been found in case of voltammetric methods, especially in DPV with asolectin modified electrode.
