2019 - English
The aim of this work is to study the hydrodynamics of the fish tanks by analyzing flow patterns through conical fish tank for the appropriate breeding of the fishes. Analyzing flow patterns is imperative in aquaculture tanks in ensuring better breeding of the fishes and attaining better muscle tone for the quality of the fishes. Here for the analysis the primary tool that has been used is CFD (computational fluid dynamics). For finding out the appropriate velocity and flow rates we have used various turbulence models (such as k-epsilon and k- models) as a comparative element. We have also tried to establish residence time distribution analysis by comparing various tank designs (such as circular, rectangular and conical tank) by implementing discrete phase models in those tank designs. The aim of this work is to study the hydrodynamics of the fish tanks by analyzing flow patterns through conical fish tank for the appropriate breeding of the fishes. 2019 - English
This master's thesis was developed on a theoretical basis to raise awareness about BIM in the building industry and to give an idea of the innovations that could potentially enhance energy management and architectural design in the Czech Republic. It starts with a research within both areas and describes a relatively new user-friendly approach to implement energy consumption reducing measures already in the early design stage. In the middle stage, I will introduce studies and research on certified reliable tools currently used by companies the most. The main problem focuses on a simple simulation that acquaints the reader with the built-in analysis tool in Revit and checks the accuracy of the used software to verify its reliability for future design and development purposes. For the simulation, a referential building will be used - in this scenario a family house (a former university project with elaborated architectural study, partial project documentation including an EPC). The outcome of the given experiment is a comparison of the results and used calculation methods, defining their differences and setting recommendation for improvement from the user perspective. The actual methods to provide an average consumption of a certified vehicle are the standard driving test. As different standards exist according to the country, they have in common to test vehicle on laboratory on test benches. The use of test benches is motivated since it allows to simulate the road conditions in a repeatable way and under specific conditions providing consistency of the measurement. The emulation of the road conditions has to be transferred to the bench were the car can spend its power. The use of chassis dynamometer allows to produce a resistive torque to the car’s wheel in accordance with the road load simulation model. This master’s thesis aims in his turn to assess car consumption on driving test but specifically for a 1:10 RC electric car. This car has basically been built for an endurance race. Given that it is a specific vehicle, no standards are defined, and this thesis proposed a simplified driving cycle which give specifications to design an adapted chassis dynamometer car allowing to emulate a road load conditions. The use of an industrial PLC computer allows the automation of the tests as the same time as the assessment of the mechanical and electrical power. The presented results report the chassis dynamometer design under PTC CREO, assembly and test. The simulation of the road load adapted to a 1:10 car along a driving cycle. The acquisition of the motor rotational speed, battery voltage, under TwinCAT PLC using the I/O communication EtherCAT. Further, method of system identification has been tested with Simulink toolbox for PMSM/converter speed control. The actual methods to provide an average consumption of a certified vehicle are the standard driving test. This project was conducted as a research for TÜV SÜD s.r.o. The project was carried out within the frame of TÜV SÜD and Czech Technical University in Prague. The purpose of this report is to present it as a master thesis project at Czech Technical University in Prague. The report is based on the work done on industrial adhesive. The report gives in depth insight of the work done during the six months project. The project's objective is FEM modelling, testing and validation of industrial adhesive for automotive applications. The use of resin-based adhesive for joining is promising. They show a satisfying behavior and further research was needed under full test conditions. At first, the ASTM standard tests were chosen for the physical testing of the adhesive. Then, the finite element (FE) material model of the adhesive was made to better match it with the physical adhesive counterpart. Then, the physical tests were simulated on FEA software PAM-CRASH. The validation and tuning of FE model was done using the physical testing data collected from the ASTM tests and adjusting the key parameters. The report should enable the reader to understand the physical model, the finite element model of the adhesive, the types of validation tests and simulations done for the project. This will also help other aspiring researchers and students to take it to next step and tune the adhesive material model using different material types, and/or for different adhesives. This project was conducted as a research for TÜV SÜD s.r.o. Development of GT-Power Model of a Gasoline Engine with Low Pressure EGR Suitable for Model-Based Predictive Control of an Air Path
Macek Jan; Jaroš Jakub; Doleček Vít
2019 - English
To develop an engine complying emission limits, reduce fuel consumption and enhance engine power output is a car manufacture’s task of the last years. New emission limits make this task even more challenging and to fulfil them requires new approaches. Recirculation of burned gases is promising way how to reduce harmful emissions and improve fuel consumption in case of a spark ignition engine. Introduction of EGR system increase degrees of freedom and it makes engine control more and more complex. To be able to use potential of EGR fully requires to have a precise calibration. Increasing need of precise calibration and higher amount of degrees of freedom increase time demand for Engine management system calibration and validation. If the calibration and validation would be performed on engine test bench only, it would be lengthy and costly. For this reason, simulation software is used to lower time demand on a test bench for engine management system calibration and validation. Aim of this work is to create models of spark ignition engine to support Model predictive control (MPC) development. Models are needed in two levels of accuracy. Trend models are part of MPC development where appropriate MPC is selected. Detailed model is needed for MPC validation before implementation of MPC on real engine application. This work explains which models are needed and what are their role in validation process. It also describes how the models have been created and which data is needed. To develop an engine complying emission limits, reduce fuel consumption and enhance engine power output is a car manufacture’s task of the last years.
