The study deals with German scholars in the Russian Academy of Sciences in the first half of 18th. Century. The author tried to illustrate, using selected examples from acadenic life in St. Petersburg, how fundamental the „German“ scientists contribution was to all key operations of the Academy of Science. Central European scientists played a decisive role in establishing this institution in the Russian environment Studie pojednává o vědcích z německých států v ruské akademii věd v 1. polovině 18. století. Autor ukazuje na vybraných příkladech z akademického života v Petrohradě, jakou úlohu sehráli „němečtí“ vědci ve stěžejních podnicích této instituce. Potash industry in Bohemia in the 18th century

The article deals with the technological and ecological aspects of the pre-industrial production of wood-ash and potash in Bohemia which is held responsible for the negative impact on the state of Bohemian forests in the 17th - 19th centuries. New research has shown that following the introduction of forest regulations in 1754 potash production in Bohemia focused on intensification.
