GEOSITE AND GEOMORPHOSITE ASSESSMENT FOR GEOTOURISM PURPOSE: A CASE STUDY FROM THE VIZOVICKA VRCHOVINA HIGHLAND, EASTERN MORAVIA
Kirchner, Karel; Kubalíková, Lucie
2014 - English
Geotourism can be understood at a broader sense as geographical tourism sustaining environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage and the well-being of residents of a place or in a more restricted sense as a form of nature tourism that specifically focuses on landscape and geology. Geological, geomorphological and pedological sites are the most important resource for the geotourism activities. It is evident that not every site can be used for geotourism purposes. To find out which site can be used, it is necessary to identify, describe and assess various sites using a suitable assessment methodology. Based on the definition and conceptsof geotourism and the assessment methods already used for geomorphosite assessment, authors propose five groups of assessment criteria. The method was used for assessing selected sites in the Vizovickavrchovina Highland (Eastern Moravia, Outer Western Carpathians). Thanks to the assessment of the sites in this region, some potential geotourism resources were identified. Although the proposed method is numerical which should reduce the subjectivity, there is always a degree of subjectivity due to the fact that the real value of some criteria cannot be measured and it depends on assessor's experience, knowledge and preferences. Keywords: geodiversity; geoheritage; numerical assessment; Outer Western Carpathians Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Factors of revitalization of brownfields in the Czech Republic
Osman, Robert; Frantál, Bohumil; Kunc, Josef; Klusáček, Petr; Martinát, Stanislav
2014 - English
The paper deals with reuse of brownfields in the Czech Republic. Based on the analysis of information about re-use of residual spaces are shown major changes in the current management space. The paper is based on a comparison of two data files - specifically, the existing brownfields database managed by the CzechInvest and own database of brownfields that have already been revitalized. The paper is divided into three parts, the first part of the paper analyzes the structure of a revitalized brownfields, in the second part of the paper, the structure of this file is compared with the structure of existing brownfields and the third part analyzes the factors revitalization of brownfields. The paper aims to answer the question what functions take the brownfields after revitalization and what factors determine their reuse. Keywords: space management; revitalization; brownfield Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Typology of Post-Industrial Landscape in Usti Region
Kolejka, Jaromír; Klimánek, M.
2012 - English
The location, mapping and typology of post-industrial landscapes (PIL) are the most common requirements of planners and decision makers on all levels of administration or resolution. Data on industrial heritage was applied for the identification and typology of the post-industrial landscapes on the regional level on the example of the Usti Region in the North of the Czech Republic. This Region was presumably the most industrialized territory in the country and was significantly changed after the structural changes in regional economy. The industrial heritage is represented by objects and traces in any landscape left by the industry in the previous period which is not serving the present industrial activities. Accessible data sources on man-made land, land use, brownfields, undermined sites, contaminated sites, industrial architectural heritage, etc. were applied to identify and classify the post-industrial landscape (PIL) in the study region using GIS technology. Keywords: post-industrial landscape; survey; genetic classification; depiction Available at various institutes of the ASCR

CFD code as a helper for the design of the water jet cutting device
Říha, Zdeněk
2011 - English
The efficiency of the amplification of high pressure pulsations in the geometric transition between larger and smaller pipes is analysed in this paper. Three types of geometric transitions are compared in the paper: step change, conical and radius change of pipe diameters. In other words, water flow in a device for water jet cleaning and cutting is evaluated. There are ultrasonic pulsations of high pressure in the given domain. Keywords: water jet cutting; ultrasonic pulsations of high pressure; geometric transition between pipes Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Biquadratic S-Patch in Bézier form
Kolcun, Alexej
2011 - English
Mutual conversions between triangular and quadrilateral meshes need the same degree of both diagonal and boundary curves of quadrilateral meshes. New approach to quadrilateral patches, S-Patches, offers such possibility. The Bézier approach of Smart patches (S-Patch) in the biquadratic case is analyzed. Dependencies among the control points are derived. BS-Patches are presented. Close relation between Bézier triangles and BSPatches is found. Condition for smooth concatenation of biquadratic BS-Patches is formulated. Keywords: parametric modeling; S-patch; Bézier patch; Bézier triangle Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Mass and energy inputs/outputs in the energy complex Dukovany-Dalešice and their impacts on the landscape
Hrádek, Mojmír
2011 - English
The Dukovany-Dalešice energy complex, situated west of Brno consist of the Dukovany nuclear power station (NPS) and of the Dalešice pumping power plant (PPP) with equalization reservoir. Geomorphic investigations were targeted the landforms and processes related with mass and energy inputs/outpust and their potential negative impacts. Individual landforms affected by negative impacts were analyzed in detail with using of a systém aproach. Inputs into NPS are limited to the water supply outputs are conncted with some negative response with direkt and indirect human impacts (erosion caused by waste water, equalization reservoir´s bank erosion, hillslopes stability exceeding and lanslide origin etc.). Keywords: nuclear power plant; pumping power plant; mass movements; erosion Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Brownfields as places for renewable sources location?
Kunc, Josef; Frantál, Bohumil; Klusáček, Petr
2011 - English
Issue of finding suitable methods and solutions of brownfields revitalization has been discussed for several years. Given its multidisciplinary character the solution is very complicated and the succes is not always ensured. Due to frequent contamination and degree of devastation of brownfields, increased demands on implementation of the projects are placed and private capital shows little interest in revitalization process yet. State support is also very important. One of the possible way of brownfields revitalization is installation of renewable energy sources (primarily solar and wind powers) on brownfields sites how is to be seen in developed countries. The aim of the contibution is to point out the occasions mentioned above in the Czech Republic as well. Keywords: brownfields; renewable sources; revitalization Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Erosion of metals by pulsating water jet
Klich, Jiří; Foldyna, Josef; Hlaváček, Petr; Zeleňák, M.; Ščučka, Jiří
2011 - English
The aim of the paper was to determine erosion effects of pulsating water jet impinging the surface of metal sample. The influence of repeated impacts of water pulses and impact velocity (operating pressure) on the erosion of metal surface was investigated. The development of erosion pattern with respect to number of impacts was analysed and discussed. It was found that erosion caused by repeated impacts of water pulses occurs in three stages. The stage of erosion of the surface can be determined by the behaviour of surface characteristics (such as Ra and Rz with respect to number of impacts of pulsating water jet. Keywords: pulsating water jet; repeated impact; erosion effects; surface characteristics Available at various institutes of the ASCR
