Theory of Electrodiffusion Friction Probes in Microdisperse Liquid 8. Effect of Apparent wall Slip and Insulating Gaps on the Directional Characteristics
Wein, Ondřej
2008 - English
Insulated insertions between individual segments of direction-sensitive electrodiffusion friction probes attenuate the directionalsensitivity. Quantitative study of this effect by Wein and Wichterle (1989) for Newtonian liquids has been extended in a recent research report (Wein 2007) for the microdisperse liquids, displaying the Apparent Wall Slip, i.e. a non-linear velocity profile close to solid surfaces. In the present research report, this theory is used to the simulation calculations of directional characteristics for a class of 3-segment electrodiffusion friction probes with the insulating insertions. Rather realistic model of non-ideal 3-segment direction-specific probes is tested by comparison of the predictions with experimental data about an actual 3-segment probe in both homogeneous and microdisperse liquids. Initial Behavior of a Vapor Bubble in a Superheated Liquid
Vejražka, Jiří
2008 - English
The model is based on a simplified law for heat transfer of a growing and moving bubble and on solving the forces acting on this bubble. The model is represented by a system of ordinary differential equations and can be used until the time when bubbles start to wobble. An partially successful (but not convincing) attempt to validate this model by comparison with available experimental data was done. In most cases, the bubble behavior is controlled by a balance of the buoyancy with the added-mass force. In this aspect, the bubble behavior differs considerably from the case of constant-volume bubbles, for which the added-mass force is usually negligible. For the case of spherical bubbles, a simple analytical solutions are provided. Keywords: vapor bubble; differential equations; transfer of bubbles Available at various institutes of the ASCR
