The broad issue of Informal Settlements - case of Namibia (Windhoek)

2008 - English Since 1991, prior to Namibian Independence, the country had been experiencing a high inflow of migrants from rural area to urban cities. The major problem is with in the capital city Windhoek and other urban cities. The urban population is increasing beyond the town{\crq}s capacity. Thus, in most cases had lead majority of the poor population to settle with in the informal settlement. Other issues that leading to these poor living conditions are such as lack of education, human capacity, incompetence with in the government to provide proper housing for its poor population. Nevertheless, in my master thesis I have paid attention to courses and problems that comes with this phenomena. At the same time, I have looked at current issues done to tackle this problem. Comparative study of attitudes toward swimming education system between Physical Education Students from Stellenbosch (RSA) and Olomouc (CZ) Universities

2008 - English Tato studie byla zaměřena na budoucí učitele tělesné výchovy, konkrétně na jejich postoj k plaveckému výcviku na základních školách, současná situace plavání v jejich zemi, atd. V této studii Čeští studenti (University Palackého) byly porovnáni se studenty z Jihoafrické Republiky (Stellenbosch University). Studie se zúčastnilo 59 studentů (CZ) a 60 studentů (RSA) z prvních a třetích ročníků studia. Dotazník obsahoval 20 otázek s možnostmi odpovědí. Dotazník byl vyhotoven dvoujazyčně (Česky a Anglicky). Ve Výsledcích I. byly porovnány získaná data z dotazníku ve třech rovinách (země, pohlaví, ročník studia) Kruskal-Wallis test byl použit na jejich zpracování. V plno otázkách nebyly názory studentů tolik rozdílné, ale nejvýznamnější rozdíly byly v otázce o první pomoci a výběr prvního plaveckého stylu. Ve Výsledcích II. byl počítán korelační koeficient. Byly porovnány vzájemné vztahy mezi jednotlivými otázkami z dotazníku. Mezi některými otázkami byly nalezeny závislosti. This study was focused on future physical educators, concretely on their attitudes towards swimming education at primary schools, current swimming situation in their country, etc. In this research Czech students (University Palacky) were compared with South African students (Stellenbosch University). There were 59 Czech students and 60 students from the RSA from the 1st and the 3rd grade of their study. The questionnaire consisted of 20 multiple-choice questions. The questionnaire had to be applied in two languages (Czech and English). In the Results I. the data from the questionnaire in three levels (country, gender, grades of study) were compared. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used for data processing. The students{\crq} opinions were not so different in many questions, but the significant differences were in questions about first aid and chosen first swimming style. In the Results II. correlation coefficients were calculated. The mutual relations among questions from the questionnaire were compared. Some dependencies between several questions were found. Práce obsahuje stručný životopis autora, společné rysy autorova života a díla, představy tragického hrdiny v pojetí Aristotela a Artura Millera a jejich porovnání s představou G. Greenea, rozbory hlavních rozporuplných postav v románech Moc a sláva, Jádro věci a Konec dobrodružství a srovnání jak těchto postav, tak i knih celkově. This diploma project deals with the life and work of Graham Greene and mainly with the Greene's concept of hero. The thesis contains a brief biography of Graham Greene, features that are common both for his private life and his novels, Aristotle's and Miller's ideas of the tragic hero and their comparison with the idea of Graham Greene. 2008 - English Diplomová práce se zabývá viktoriánskou společností tak jak ji ve svých hrách vykresluje dramatik Oscar Wilde. Předmětem zkoumání jsou dvě z jeho čtyř sociálních komedií, jmenovitě Vějíř Lady Windermerové a Jak je důležité míti Filipa. Hlavním cílem je interpretovat nejzásadnější informace o viktoriánských vyšších společenských vrstvách, jejích způsobech a vztazích mezi jejími členy, které vyplívají z již zmiňovaných her Oscara Wilda. Závěrem pak je porovnání obou her, které vyúsťuje v kompaktní obraz dané společnosti. This diploma project deals with Victorian high society seen through Oscar Wilde{\crq}s eyes. It focuses on two of his four social comedies, namely Lady Windermere{\crq}s Fan and The Importance of Being Earnest. The primary aim is to interpret the most typical features of Victorian high society, their manners and relationships between each other, which emerge from the plays. The conclusion is a comparison of both plays, which leads to a compact picture of Victorian society. Male-Female Relationships in Short Fiction by Ernest Hemingway

2008 - English Cieľom danej diplomovej práce je analýza partnerských nezhôd a rozchodov v poviedkovej tvorbe amerického spisovateľa Ernesta Hemingwaya. Literárne interpretácie a analýzy jednotlivých poviedok boli konfrontované s prácami známych literárnych kritikov zaoberajúcich sa danou problematikou. Práca je rozdelená na teoretickú a praktickú časť. Teoretická časť bližšie pojednáva o Hemingwayovom špecifickom spôsobe písania, o literárnych vplyvoch na jeho tvorbu, ako aj o charakteristike tém a postáv vystupujúcich vo vybraných poviedkach. Teoretická časť sa taktiež stručne zaoberá témou modernizmu v americkej ale i európskej literatúre. Praktická časť bližšie analyzuje vybrané poviedky, a to najmä s uplatnením psychologického postupu. Táto práca si kladie za cieľ priblížiť autorovu poviedkovú tvorbu, ktorá v porovnaní s jeho románovou tvorbou stojí viac v ústraní. The primary goal of this diploma paper is the analysis of male-female conflicts and breakups in the short fiction written by an American writer Ernest Hemingway. The literary interpretations and analyses of the particular short stories were confronted with the critical works of some well-known literary critics who are writing about this topic. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part briefly deals with Hemingway{\crq}s specific way of writing. This part presents as well the types of story characters, themes and the literary influences upon the author{\crq}s writing. In this theoretical part there is also some information about modernism in American and European literature. The practical part analyzes in detail the chosen short stories. In the analyses it was predominantly used the psychological point of view. This work intends to present the author{\crq}s short fiction as this stands in comparison with his novels more in background.
