Laser beam machining of commercially pure titanium: influence of process parameters on surface roughness

Laser machining is one of the most widely used advanced machining processes used for creating new surfaces, structures, cavities and also complex electro-mechanical devices, usually with very small dimensions, by laser radiation. Optimal selection of process parameters is highly critical for successful material removal and high machine surface quality. In the paper the relation between process parameters and machined surface quality characteristics is experimentally studied applying the five axis highly dynamic laser precision machining centre Lasertec 80 Shape equiped with the pulsed ytterbium fibre laser (wave lenght 1064 nm, maximal average output power 100 W) and CNC system Siemens 840 D and commercionally pure titanium (Grade 2) as working material. The influence of the pulse frequency and energy, laser scanning speed and stepsize (spacing between adjacent passes) on the machined surface roughness is evaluated using Taguchi experimental design approach. The influence of process parameters on surface quality is investigated for two laser scanning strategies: hatching and crosshatching. The significant influence of the stepsize on the machined surface roughness was found. Documentation of nonconforming products and its optimization

The automotive industry is a specific industrial sector where quality of products is very important. It is therefore necessary to use a unified and internationally accepted structure of documentation. This requirement is especially evident in the issue of nonconforming products. A form called an 8D Report is most often used for recording non-conforming products. The structure of this form contributes to a fast resolution and also contributes to finding the cause of the problem. Because today's business environment is focused on quality products, and also on their minimum price, it is necessary to constantly seek new ways of reducing costs. It is therefore necessary to seek not only savings in production technologies and, develop new materials, but also to find savings in documentation. Documentation offers many possibilities for optimization and for reducing dead time and thereby reducing costs. For effective optimization of documentation is is possible to use MS Excel with advanced features such as macros. Now, most schoolchildren do not have a one hundred percent health, so the problem of children's health is very serious. At lessons of work pupils learn to take care of their health in everyday life (learn to eat right, observe good personal hygiene, etc.). It is further important aspect of their adult life. Detection of deformation zones when machining nickel alloys

Processes in cutting zone are so complicated and dynamic, that their definition is performed by specific created models. Innovative measurement methods of the process can be used to improve and verify the accuracy of these models. With these methods, there are many sources of error when using empirical or exact methods such as infrared radiation thermography to measure the temperature distribution of the tool, workpiece, and chip during metal cutting. Furthermore, metal cutting presents unique measurement challenges due to factors such as the high magnification required, high surface speeds and deformations, microblackbody effects, changing emissivity, and primary, secondary and tertiary deformations. To better understanding of phenomena in deformation zones and detection of them is necessary to know the greatest number of measurable factors, which affect the cutting process. In experiments, there were performed the measuring of temperature and its distribution, ratios of cutting forces and monitoring of deformation processes using by high-speed optical scanning system. These measurements were performed by multifunctional system which allow to measure and monitor all required factors simultaneously. The outputs from this multimeasuring system are the basis for verification of theoretical knowledge from this field and elimination of the uncertainties that arise with computational simulation systems. This thesis focuses on the use and influences of CAx Technologies on component production cycle. At the same time it lists and describes computer aided technologies that deals with this subject. This thesis identifies basic medical and stomatology concepts as well as methods used. It also contains a detailed example of manufacturing medical implants such as knee implant or dental crown. It further explains the detailed process of acquiring a digital description of implant shape and its subsequent modification. Attention is drawn to a analysis of ultrasonic machine ULTRASONIC 20 linear, which was used for manufacturing of dental bridge. In the centre of Excellence 5-axis machining in Trnava, where we manufactured a hip implant. The fabrication was accomplished by 4 - and 5 - axis kinematic structures of machining by the Eagle machine. The last part of this thesis concentrates on the rapid protoyping technologies and comparating of direct and indirect methods of manufacturing of medical components.
