2008 - English Tato bakalářská diplomová práce je zaměřena na zkoumání použití všech tří typů konstrukce se slovesem have: konstrukce obsahující sloveso ve tvaru {--}ing, minulého participia a infinitivu bez to. Cílem této práce je ověřit teoretické poznatky lingvistů na konkrétních příkladech získaných z korpusu (ICE-GB). The thesis is concerned with finding the difference in usage of all three types of the have construction: this one with a verb in {--}ing form, -ed participle and the bare infinitive. The aim of the work is to verify theories of linguists on the concrete sentences obtained from the corpus (ICE-GB). Součástí práce je vliv životních zkušeností Woolfové na její osobnost, pohled na otázku genderu a tvorbu. Práce odhaluje pojetí maskulinity a feminity Virginie Woolfové a příbuzná témata. Na závěr je předložena syntéza získaných a analyzovaných poznatků. The aim of my thesis is to explore the question of gender in the works of Virginia Woolf with special focus on the novels The Voyage Out, Night and Day, Mrs Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, Orlando, Three Guineas, A Room of One´s Own and numerous essays. The influence of Woolf´f life experience on her view of gender and her work is included. The thesis demonstrates Woolf´s conception of feminity and masculinity and examines the related themes. In conclusion, the work suggests the synthesis of my findings. 2008 - English Tato práce si klade za cíl představit některé z teorií, které mohou být využity pro analýzu zpravodajského diskurzu a aplikovat je na menší vzorek zpráv z britského kvalitního tisku, The Guardian. Analýza se zaměřuje na zprávy zabývající se kriminalitou se snahou odhalit některé z tendencí a komunikačních strategií používané v novinách k prezentování tohoto sociálního jevu. Přestože koncepce aplikovaná v analytické části je založena na přístupech, které jsou interdisciplinární, jejím hlavním zaměřením je jazyková rovina zpravodajských textů. The aim of this thesis is to provide an overview of some theories that can be used for the analysis of news discourse and apply them on a sample of news reports from a British quality press, The Guardian. The analysis focuses on news reports concerning crime in attempt to reveal some of the tendencies and communication strategies that are used for the representation of this social phenomenon in the newspaper. The framework applied in the analytical part is based on approaches which are interdisciplinary, but its main focus is on the linguistic features of the news texts. The broad issue of Informal Settlements - case of Namibia (Windhoek)

2008 - English Since 1991, prior to Namibian Independence, the country had been experiencing a high inflow of migrants from rural area to urban cities. The major problem is with in the capital city Windhoek and other urban cities. The urban population is increasing beyond the town{\crq}s capacity. Thus, in most cases had lead majority of the poor population to settle with in the informal settlement. Other issues that leading to these poor living conditions are such as lack of education, human capacity, incompetence with in the government to provide proper housing for its poor population. Nevertheless, in my master thesis I have paid attention to courses and problems that comes with this phenomena. At the same time, I have looked at current issues done to tackle this problem.
